Guyana Demerara fans who like the drier, Versailles-still side of the island will find their groove here: chocolate, licorice, roasted nuts and a sharpened pencil-shavings note, with caramel arriving late. A few tasters flag a Rossana candy (milk-caramel) note on the palate. The oily, dry finish is long. At 55% the alcohol reads sharp on the nose but settles once you sip.

#5666 14.09.2025 Tasting in Copenhagen with good friends. Nose Medium intense, fresh, wood, roasted, dried fruit, light pencil shavings, light plum, spice, light anise. Palate Warm, wood, roasted, oily, light polish, light pencil shavings, light plum, citrus, light anise, faint chocolate. Finish Long, oily, wood, dried fruit, anise, light herbal, light chocolate. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

The nose has a decent amount of caramel, slightly biting. On the palate, a mix of pencil, licorice, and allspice. Not my thing at all. Absolutely not my thing. Unfortunately, it has a somewhat longer finish.

Classic great Daimond Versailles at a great price! The alcohol is clearly perceptible and very pungent on the nose, but this subsides on the palate. All the usual flavors come through from start to finish. The finish is long, dark chocolate, coffee, very dry, but delicious 🤤

A really good Versaille. You get what you expect from both the nose and the taste. Nice chocolate notes, a bit of licorice, very light pencil, and slightly bittersweet. In the finish, you get a nice caramel touch. Really very good. It's a pity that the alcohol isn't better integrated though. Also convincing is the excellent value for money.

Overall a very rounded thing. The dark roasted woodiness that you love so much in Demerara rum is not necessarily in the foreground here. The wood and spice come across more young and fresh. A spicy licorice toffee.

Blind buy, looks lighter in the glass than expected, smells lighter than expected. Nice influences of barrel, vanilla, and fruits, in the background freshly sharpened pencil, slightly bitter hints. On the palate dark fruits, burnt sugar with slight bitterness, a bit of cookie dough and in the finish herbs drifting towards licorice.

Nose is pleasant with fresh, woody notes of pencil shavings. Also quite a lot of dry fruit and a touch of sweeness. Taste is initially alchohol heavy but transitions to a full bodied, sweet, woody, spice filled flavor. Finish is shorter than expwcted but pleasant.
