The surprise here is how soft and easy it goes down for a 12-year solera. Expect caramel, honey, vanilla and a cherry note, with a little oak and spice giving it slightly more structure than pure dessert rums. This Quorhum is not bad at all. Pleasant notes of caramel and honey on the nose and palate. I find it a very mild rum, you hardly feel the alcohol. It has a light but pleasant sweetness. Quite okay for in between.

Nose: Fruity and sweet with currants, cherries and caramel. A spicy note joins in. Palate: Fruity and sweet as on the nose with caramel and the feeling as if it had been in a sherry cask (PX). Spicy and woody notes (oak) round it all off. Finish: short and sweet with more wood. Conclusion: surprisingly easy to drink, I wouldn't have expected that.

Not much character on this Dominican rum which seems heavily dosed with sugar, which gives it a very easy to drink side for sure, but also has the effect of smoothing out all the flavors. It's caramelized, honeyed and soft. Nothing more.

The Quorhum 12 Istrien is a very solid, classic solera rum that delivers exactly what you expect from this style: smooth, round, slightly sweet - but with a bit more wood and spice than many competitors. It feels less "dessert-like," instead a bit more structured and mature, yet still very approachable and uncomplicated. For me, a perfect entry into the Quorhum range, a fine rum that works well both neat and in an upscale mixed drink.

Nice rhum, it tastes like vanilla caramel and cherry. Seems a little sweetened to me. Not my favourite type of rum but my wife loves especially with juice.

Quorhum 12 is a rum that impresses mainly with its sweetness on the first sip – there's caramel, vanilla, maybe honey. It's easy to drink, but at the same time it lacks more depth. The sweetness sometimes feels a bit artificial and if you're expecting the honest complexity of a twelve-year-old solera rum, you might be disappointed. The finish is rather short, nothing that lingers long in memory. Overall, it's a rum that doesn't offend if you like sweeter and easy-drinking stuff and don't mind that it's from Oliver&Oliver who have all their rums quite similar. I'd still rather drink the older 30yo version :)
