31.08.2025 Retasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. --------------- #5368 03.06.2025 Running a few samples at home, while listening to some EDM from Dr. Spook. Nose Fresh, round, light wood, vanilla, orange, light floral, grapes, light leather. Palate Oily, light wood, faint roasted, balanced, orange, light floral, vanilla, banana, light dry, faint herbal. Finish Long, light dry, banana, faint herbal, light berries, spice, faint floral. Empty glass Chocolate, light caramel, light medicinal, faint berries.

Unusually floral and flowery for a Mount Gay, more like yellow fruits and slightly vegetal. The Cognac cask definitely comes through strongly. Overall, it's very pleasant to drink but doesn't blow me away.

Lovely delicate Mount Gay. Heavy on the yellow fruits. Light toffee/caramel/floral notes. Tasted on Whisky Rum aan Zee 2025. Would love to try again.

Hanse Spirit Hamburg February 2026. Next up is the Mount Gay Cognac Cask. Definitely cognac noticeable on the nose, but also caramel and wood. On the palate, very toasty, but vanilla and wood are also recognizable.

Tasting at the German Rum Festival 2025. Nice blend, soft and full-bodied with the clearly identifiable Mount Gay profile. Doesn't stand out though. The asking price is poorly justified.

Tasted at the occasion of Rhum Fest Paris 2026. Another rum that deserves more than a quick pass. Woody. Cognac. Grape. The indulgence of Barbados on top. The 58% seemed tamed to me. To be tested again.

Very nice expression out of MG. The cognac cask did some good work here enhancing the MG profile with some additional fruits on the nose and palate. Feels way more mature compared to its young age. While I like this very much, pricing is a bit high.
