CDI Bellevue Guadeloupe (Bottled for Germany) 1998

Cinnamon, tobacco and honeyed dried fruit lead the way here — a spicy, mature Bellevue that surprises people expecting the usual grassy French style. Reviewers find it barely vegetal, more like an old whisky with cherry, black tea and leather. At 55.5% it runs hot and peppery neat; a few drops of water pull out apricot, cocoa and caramelised fruit. Balanced and genuinely complex.
