The nose stays quiet, then the palate goes off like a fruit bomb — overripe pineapple, fermented strawberry, kiwi and a strawberry-yoghurt note that gives away the Herr side of this TH1 blend. There's real gummy-bear sweetness in the finish, cut by cognac-cask tannins and pink pepper. At 63% the heat is remarkably well tucked in for most, though a few find the ending sharp and short.

8,5:On the nose, fermented, overripe strawberries, orange, pineapple, esters and rubber, funky, intense, roasted wood notes with caramel, pastry, spicy vanilla, vegetal molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, orange peel, bitter orange and some berries are out, the rubber is burnt, fruits slightly rotten, as there is a hint of cheese. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is fruity with overripe, fermented strawberry, pineapple and bitter orange, later kiwi, burnt, smoky, roasted with BBQ tones, salty, peppery, funky and medicinal with esters, rubber, slightly pungent, as the molasses is grassy, flowery, herbaceous, vegetal, with hints of eucalyptus.Sweet notes like chocolate, vanilla, caramelized nicely balance pungency... 8,4:The finish is long, dry&tannic, funky, the palate notes linger on, there is a Cognac touch, perhaps hints of peat and black tea. Savanna-Tasting am 26.09.2025 – Es wurden acht Samples verkostet und fachkundig erklärt. Der Savanna-Hype ist irgendwie mal wieder an mir vorbeigegangen, aber es war ein wirklich großartiges Event. Vielen Dank an RumX und das Savanna-Team – gerne mehr davon! Die Savannas sind wahre Könner und Handwerker. Komplex, 60 % Vol., die am Gaumen schmeicheln. Die Arbeit mit verschiedenen Stilrichtungen wie Creole, Traditionell und HERR führt zu einer Vielfalt, wie sie nur wenige Brennereien bieten. Alles top-notch! Sample Nummer 4: Unshared CZ. Kräftig, gut trinkbar, schöne Plastiknoten, aber das Fruchtige (Ananas etc.) ist halt nichts für mich, das spiegelt sich auch in der Bewertung wieder.

Savanna-Online-Tasting WLP 26.09.2025 Update 2025-12-16: Kleines Savanna-Crosstasting mit Soforteinschätzung, daher nur kurz: Ich halte diesen Savanna für unterschätzt. Gefällig, süffig, typisch, nicht aggressiv. Erinnert mich am ehesten an den Savanna 2007 mit 62,6% von RN. Gegenüber dem letzten Tasting um 3 Punkte hochgesetzt.

Savanna Masterclass 26.09.2025 Edit: Nachverkostung. An der Nase schon eine ordentliche Portion Ester, Beeren und Kaugummi. Insgesamt ziemlich fruchtig. Am Gaumen dazu auch etwas Menthol. Gefällt mir ziemlich gut 👍

Heute mal ein kleines wildes (teilweise island) savanna Tasting. L'Absolute 2025, sehr solider und leckerer Savanna mit ordentlichem Holzeinschlag. Der Preis ist sehr häppig für das Gebotene. 8.2 Unshared Cask CZ, schon sehr viel weicher am Gaumen, hellere Fruchtnoten mit dem typischen Erdbeerjoghurt. Zum Abgang hin wird es wild adstringent und die Früchte karamelisiert. Etwas scharf und unrund zum Ende hin. Dennoch sehr interessant. Sternenhimmel, hui, der spaltet völlig zurecht die Gemüter. Sehr schwefelig. Ich kann mich noch nicht ganz entscheiden, ob ich ihn mag oder nicht. Grotte, fruchtig, sehr viel vergorene Früchte. Kurzer Abgang, Alkohol nicht ideal eingebunden. Fällt etwas im Vergleich ab.

Wieder eine schöne Abfüllung von Savanna, die Nase schön funky und fruchtig, mit Ananas und Erdbeeren. Am Gaumen kommen angenehme Süße und das richtige Maß an Holz hinzu. Etwas Piment und Pfeffer… Mittellanger Abgang, leicht adstringent.

Savanna RumX Tasting 26.09.25: I quite like this CZ bottling.. the interplay of esters and spices fits perfectly and creates a nice funkiness. Only the finish is relatively short.

👃 joli funk ! Ananas confit, tarte à l'ananas, ananas surmûri, gâteau à l'orange du père, c'est pâtissier à souhait. D'autres fruits tropicaux tels que le maracuja, le combawa, la carambole. Notes épicées de vanille en gousse sur le marché, baies roses. Douceur de massepain, cire de bougie, poussière de bois, fumée légère. Un nez aromatique, équilibré, jeune, plutôt doux finalement. Les 63° sont incroyables d'intégration. 😋 Oh ! La bouche prend le contre-pied de la douceur du nez. Les esters se font plus vifs mais le degré alcoolique est encore une fois très bien intégré. C'est fermentaire, ananas trop mûr bien sûr, mais aussi de la saumure, olive verte, c'est salé. J'ai aussi du yaourt à la fraise/kiwi typique des Herr, très bon point pour ce Th1. Bouche pimentée, jeune, intense, fougueuse, j'aime ce qui se passe. ⛳ Longue, chaude, vive, intense, amère, astringente, épicée, fruitée (ananas, kiwi). Pas de notes de fraise pour moi en finale. 💡 Très bon représentant Th1, dans le top avec le LMDW.

For me, a rather unspectacular Savanna, where the typical markers like strawberry, ester, and tropical fruits are present, but the overall impression due to sharpness and excessive wood influence on the palate does not allow a top rating.

Super funky crazy and relatively young Grand Arome. Unusual aromas of juicy and slightly sour fully ripe pineapple, kiwi and strawberry. Plus BBQ aromas and pink pepper, orange peel and schnapps pralines. Intense tannins and acidity in the finish probably coming from the Cognac cask. I like it very much, only the alcohol could be integrated a bit better.

26.09.2025 Savanna tasting from Paris while attending the Whisky Live 2025. Nose Medium intense, light wood, fruity, berries, light orange, faint rubber, faint smoke, light floral, light caramel. Palate Medium intense, light wood, peach, light ester, light berries, faint smoke, light chocolate, faint rubber, light tea. Finish Long and warm, fruity,, naturaly sweet, oily, light caramel, light chocolate, dried fruit.

Ganz Netten Savanna. Nase etwas Zurückhaltend und kaum aussagekräftig. Früchte etwas Ester Vanille und Kaugummi... Am Gaumen der hier klar besser ist kommen leckere Tropical Früchte zusammen mit Erdbeeren Kaugummi und Ester . Einzig der nicht gut eingebundene Alkohol schwächt die Performance 😅

Savanna Masterclass. The next tasty Savanna, nothing particularly outstanding, but still good. At least it is very fruity on the palate, especially strawberry stands out. Otherwise slightly woody and esters are also recognizable.

Diesen Rum habe ich eher als ausgewogene Variante im Vergleich zu den Esterfruchtbomben gesehen. Die Fruchtkombination aus Ananas, Erdbeere und Kiwi ist sehr spannend und man bekommt eine Ladung an Fasseinflüssen im richtigen Maße dazu. Kritikpunkt: würzige Schärfe und etwas übermäßig sauer im Mund.

Edit: tried it again at my leisure, it still didn't really convince me. From the first impression, this bottling didn't really pick me up at first. I think I have to try it again in peace, but it was also the last one I tried that evening/night. I'll give it another chance and then give it a rating.

In the mouth rises a fruity ester party of overripe pineapple, strawberries and kiwis. A latent chewing gum aroma makes it, together with the astonishing sweetness, almost artificial. Un Savanna dans la plus pure tradition. Cette distillerie a quand même une sacrée typicité ! Ici, on retrouve des fruits bien mûrs, de le fraise. C'est esterisé, fermenté, boisé. Un côté végétal. On pourrait y passer des heures. En bouche, sensation intense. C'est piquant et chaud. Presque trop pour moi, mais ça passe. Encore des fruits gourmands. Superbe longueur, toujours fruitée. Magnifique.

Für mich beschreibt „gezähmter High Ester Savanna“ dieses Bottling am besten. Satte Fruchtaromen, Holz, überreife Erdbeeren, Minze, Karamell - all dies in sehr zugänglicher Komposition und Ausgewogenheit. Sehr gut.

Savanna Masterclass. Beautiful Savanna with great fruit notes on the nose, plus wood notes that are also confirmed on the tongue. The rum is quite edgy, which I personally really appreciate, the alcohol is relatively well integrated and the esters come out nicely, awesome sweetness in the finish.

Die unshared Cask Abfüllung für Tschechien ist eine schöne Kombination aus Gewürznoten, Fruchtnoten und etwas Holz. Der Abgang ist leider recht kurz und der Alkohol könnte etwas besser integriert sein.

Savanna x RumX 2025. Wow, this TH1 is really a fruit bomb, juicy as can be, with beautiful esters, passion fruit. Quite fun, the first nose a bit mezcal and watermelon. It's very concentrated and tasty but quite approachable and soft. Quite round, and overall everyone really liked it! With water: dragon fruit, and a slight Baiju side.

Very intense and aromatically dense profile with typical Grand Arôme notes. On the nose fermented fruits, esters and a distinct solvent character, accompanied by citrus and a hint of herbs. On the palate strong and complex with fruity sweetness, spice and a striking freshness. The long finish is lively and aromatic. A bottling that brings a lot of joy and makes you want more.

Tasted in the RumX Masterclass on 26.09.25: Great surprise for me. Full fruit power, strawberry meets pineapple meets kiwi, plus alcohol very well integrated! On the palate, after a while, the cognac cask also comes through, but very discreetly and sensibly contributes to the overall impression!

Am Gaumen anfänglich scharf, würzig, dann fruchtig, mit Honig. Leicht ölig am Gaumen. Recht lang am Gaumen. Der Alkohol ist gut integriert. Nicht ganz mein Geschmack aber im Großen und Ganzen in Ordnung.

Al bicchiere si presenta di un bel colore ambrato e non troppo viscoso, facendolo roteare nel bicchiere e’ molto fluido; Al naso e’ particolare, ha un profumo tutto suo, a tratti pungente ed a tratti con l’alcol che spinge molto, poi arriva una nota fruttata e legnosa, diciamo abbastanza funcky; Al palato all’inizio la nota alcolica di fs sentire molto e solo dopo un po fa sentire gli aromi, si ripresentano come per il naso anche al palato la nota legnosa e fruttata; Dopo tempo nel bicchiere si esaltano aromi e soprattutto gusti, migliora più al palato che al naso. Dram beverino con finale e’ lungo, almeno per i miei gusti. Non sono un grande appassionato di Savanna ma questo imbottigliamento mi e’ piaciuto, se solo la nota alcolica era meglio integrata poteva essere ancora meglio

Un peu plus tard dans la journée, Thomas m’a gentiment permis de goûter le Unshared Cask République Tchèque – TH1 2016 – 63%. J’ai beaucoup aimé ce jeune grand arôme super funky ! Un nez discret, mais une bouche explosive : chewing-gum aux esters, avec une pointe d’acidité apportée par le fût de cognac. Le mark TH1 (assemblage de rhum traditionnel et de HERR vieilli) fonctionne vraiment bien et connaît un beau succès en cette fin d’année — on le retrouve un peu partout : One Rum, HerrLine Swell, etc.

The nose starts off with really bold combination of juicy tropical fruits and esters as the Herr part of the DNA is rushing forward, bit supported by the artificial strawberry. But it dissipates quite quickly and sweet citruses, dried fruits, floral/vegetal tones and vanilla come from behind. The taste starts with the same bold sweet and juicy fruits with strawberry and turns into the drier woody and spice combo. Really good Savanna.
