This is a neat, take-your-time sipper — give it half an hour in the glass and it keeps shifting. Dark chocolate, leather, dried apricots, prunes and tobacco carry a Guyana-heavy navy blend of Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana rums. At 59.2%, the alcohol sits remarkably well. A few tasters wanted more Jamaican funk and Trinidad presence; some found the oak a touch tannic on the finish.

25.09.2025 Relaxing with some samples after finishing my packing for Whisky Live in Paris. Nose Medium intense, woody, roasted, light plum, light leather, light mint, citrus, cinnamon. Palate Oily, medium intense, medium spicy, wood, roasted, light caramel, light leather, dried fruit. Finish Long, woody, roasted, light mint, citrus, light caramel, light prunes. Empty glass Light leather, light nutts, faint nougat, light caramel, raisin.

Complex aromas, alcohol well integrated, warming, long mature texture and long-lasting taste. Dried fruits, a bit too much tannin/wood in the finish for my taste (that's why the Black Tot is slightly my favorite). A very good rum, a bit too expensive in my eyes.

This rum is like the summer evening sky: all shades of color are served. In concrete terms: if you give the rum plenty of time, you will find different aromas on the nose and palate every 5 minutes. Highly amazing and proof of a more than happy blender's hand (the very good alcohol integration also speaks for the latter). Great rum cinema. But I only recognized it on the second tasting.

8,8:On the nose, minty molasses, perfumed, dark with black tea, earthy with tobacco, toasted, slightly resinous oak, with dark chocolate, cream toffee, spicy with cinnamon, dried apricots, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, more intense bourbon notes arise with citrus, yellow fruits, butterscotch, pastry, the sugar is burnt, caramelized, roasted nuts and nougat join, metallic patina. 8,9:On the palate, the attack is brown, sweet, creamy with toasted wood notes like nougat, mocha, milk chocolate, leather, later dark chocolate, spicy, tannic, fruity with dried apricots, raisins, prunes and on oxidation hints of coconut, dark berries, as the molasses is dark with licorice, black tea, minty, flowery and earthy with tobacco, briny. 8,6:The finish long, dry and tannic, slightly dirty with roasted oak notes, dark, malt, nutty, fruity with dried, yellow, citrus fruits, the molasses is minty, earthy. An impressive blend whose complexity only really becomes clear after longer exposure to air. At first sniff, it almost seemed like a pure mix of Port Mourant and Versailles with a small share of Long Pond. On the palate, however, the smooth, ripe texture of Trinidad shows up, without any dirty Caroni notes or a strong mint-menthol attack. The Hampden esters are comparatively rare but still present, giving the rum an exciting twist again and again. Every time you smell and taste it again, new aromas can be found, always remaining harmonious and elegant. Wonderful!

In the nose, Jamaica and Guyana. On the palate, for me, first Jamaica with a bit of funk, tropical fruits, then Trinidad with some mint, eucalyptus, and finally the Guyana punch. I'm thrilled, and the longer it sits in the glass, the more aromas come through.

Yeah, I really like this one too, a great piece. Otherwise, on the palate it's really roasted. Dark chocolate, leather, coffee, mocha, and licorice, but also some oak is clearly noticeable here.

Complex Navy Blend with exciting aromas. On the nose, mint, herbs, and a certain funkiness combine with ripe fruit and spice. On the palate, it is multilayered, powerful, and full of character with a bitter touch that makes the profile distinctive. The finish is long, slightly salty, and carried by wood and spices. A very successful blend that shows a lot of depth and expression.

From memory, there is more Jamaica on the nose here compared to HQNB 1. Over time, many different aromas come through and alternate. You can smell and discover for a long time. Full and dense in the mouth. Even better than the nose. Red fruits, wood, leather, creamy, subtle sweetness. Simply great.

Tasting at the 14th German Rum Festival: Incredibly complex and versatile – every aroma fits into a strong overall picture. New facets with every sip, time in the glass is worth it. For me an absolute top rum.

A significant lighter profile compared to the first HQNB. Well executed and complex, yet not really what I‘d expect from an navy blend as it mostly lacks dark notes and rich dried fruits. The first edition is my favorite here, clearly.

The new HQNB in the glass for Black Tot Day. The EMB 95 set the tone for the first, here I'm more in favor of Versailles and PM. The Caroni and TDL are more in the background, or rather more present on the palate.

A unicorn in terms of quality, the alcohol could not be more perfectly integrated. With a twinkle in your eye, you could almost say you can't enjoy Caroni more price-consciously, which is present alongside dark fruits from Guyana. Wonderful woody notes that harmonize smoothly with plum and dirt from Trinidad. Tropical fruits from Jamaica remain very subtle, but come through when left to stand for a while and tasted from time to time.

Direct comparison of the two HQNB. The old one dominates the nose with menthol and citrus and lots of EMB notes. The new one rather with Spanish and chocolaty sweet notes. The first is clearly better, but I wouldn't need a bottle of either. The new one doesn't blow me away, I would rather take an EMB than the first one.

The old Navy Blend from RumClub was compared with the new RumClub Ed.55. Personally, I liked the old one a little better. Both very good, but in conclusion, the new bottling couldn't quite keep up. Complaining at a high level

Tasting at "Basecamp" on 31.07.2026 Samples from Rum Depot. 👌 Nose on an adventure👃: I sense dried fruits like dried apricot, prune, dates. There is also dark chocolate and a hint of mint! Tongue on an adventure 🥃: I taste an intense rum with dark chocolate and generally dried fruits! There is leather and definitely also licorice! The finish of the story💫: Long finish with a clear wood influence, something undefinable roasted? There is leather, tobacco, and a bit of mint! It really tastes great!

Nice surprise, it's quite pleasant. I let it breathe for a good half hour. Just to unlock the potential, especially with blends. You find nice notes of fruit, tobacco, leather, chocolate, a slight touch of menthol... a nice roundness and very well integrated alcohol. Medium to long length. I like it a lot

A really great navy blend at a very high level. Whether on the nose or the palate, both, very complex and you can discover new flavors every 5-10 minutes, if you just give it the time. (It's difficult, it's damn drinkable) Dark dried fruit, caramel, raisin, prune, mint, tobacco, leather, wood and dark chocolate. A colorful potpourri of flavors to discover. PS: Yes, I found "HQNB 1" a tiny bit better from my personal taste profile, which I like.

Wow. Wonderful navi blend. Really nice raisin, chocolate and vanilla on the nose. A grenade on the palate. Great flavors and a strong finish too. A really nice device. Hopefully again soon.

30-08-2025 - Rate 8.3 German Rum Festival 3rd Rumclub Private Selection of the festival. Also slightly the best one of their bottles, that was tasted on the festival. Really exciting navy blend. Nose with tobacco, oak, spices and dried fruits. Palate with tobacco, oak, dried fruits, raisins and a hint of leather. Much closer to the Spanish style than the first HQNB, where the EMB marque comes through very clearly. A drinkable, accessible blend that also has aromas of mint and dried fruit alongside the heavy caramel, vanilla and oak sweetness. An exciting blend at a high level.

Last Rum Club for tonight On the nose:Tobacco and woody notes. Spices. Dried fruits. On each nosing, i got very different notes. Taste: Dark chocolate at first. Leather. Toasted notes. Dried fruits. Mocha notes towards the end. There is alcohol intensity, but for me its integrated very well. Finish: Oak and dark chocolate Havent tried the first edition, but this one had very good range of darker flavours and i really enjoyed sipping this one.

Beautiful light golden color. The first nose impression is reserved, round and harmonious, caramel, coconut, then subtle fruit notes over time. On the palate with plenty of power. Contrast to the nose impression. That's already good. Everything you expect from such a blend. Spicy notes, wood influence, but also fruity elements. Everything smoothly transitions into a pleasant long finish. Overall on the spicy side. This rum's strengths lie in the palate impression and the nice fading without disturbing components.

Great blend of some of the best rums the rum world has to offer. Beautiful aroma that gradually changes as the rum opens up. Taste is smooth, doesn't burn the tongue. Very pleasant finish. Color is light, similar to Rumclub 50 Guyana Versailles.

If you look at the list of ingredients and what's in it, it's impressive how well they work together. Nothing stands out negatively in any way. This blend seems to me to be one that is more on the Spanish and sweet side, but everything is wonderfully balanced. I think it's very good.

A nice navy blend, but it clearly falls short in comparison with the 1st generation and the Velier Royal Navy. Too much Guyana, too little Jamaica and Trinidad, the balance is missing. There is better for the money.
