And then a high ester from Le Galion. It's really great, lots of strawberry is noticeable here, of course also plenty of esters. A bit of overripe pineapple and olive can also be detected, this rum tastes very creamy.

I never really found the access to Le Galion. Also here: on the nose quite interesting with esters and lots of fruit, but on the palate then the taste of sour strawberry yogurt and children's feet. For those who like it...

#6343 04.02.2026 Training done and wife picked up from work, now it is time for a few samples. Thanks for the samples goes to Petter. This is a surprisingly good rum with a nice and intense nose and balanced profile. Fruity with some light smoke, spices and olives. There is a light medicinal note in there but that is to be expected.

8,4:On the nose, esters, intense, fermented tropical(banana, pineapple) and citrus, red fruits with strawberry, apple, vegetal molasses with briny olive, mushrooms, smoky tones with baked apple, bacon, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, more burnt, roasted notes arise like rubber, dark chocolate, fruit cake, the molasses becomes flowery and spicy. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is intense, but creamy with esters, fermented notes like yoghurt, overripe tropical fruits, strawberries, raspberries, apple and pear, plum and citrus fruits, slightly astringent, there is some metallic patina, the molasses is vegetal with briny olive, musty, flowery, spicy with allspice, a wave of burnt, smoky notes occupy our tasting buds with burnt rubber, bacon. 8,1:The finish is medium long, dry, astringent, medicinal with esters, glue, burnt rubber, phenolic with smoky touch, pairing fermented fruits, yoghurt and vegetal, briny molasses. A very wild number, but typical le Galion. Overripe, fermented strawberry, pineapple (pineberries), butterscotch and baked apple as well as bacon and olive brine. Fruit yoghurt with salty brine, passion fruit and allspice. Slightly astringent and tart. Well made but you have to be in the mood for it!

EDIT: it's still just as good, and it amazed the whole Rhum Club Lille! Ouch ouch ouch, my friend really nailed it! The nose promises an exceptional experience, between exotic fruits, esters, and in the background smoky notes, a bacon side, plantain banana chips. The palate follows, soft at first, slightly astringent, it dries the palate as if it were aged, then the punch of fruits comes back strong. The texture is quite rich, almost milky, marked by some notes of ferments. It's really top! Bravo!

The second Galion today (RX23870) and the similarity is astonishing. Lots of smoke/bacon combined with pineapple, strawberry, ester, and a bit of olive. On the palate, this one also has a bit of yogurt. Definitely great in a Daiquiri!

Interesting rum, with a lovely, very aromatic and fruity nose(fruits like strawberry, pineapple and banana). Also very pleasant on the tongue. The alcohol is notable, but not spicy and there is kind of a bacon note. While this rum can certainly be enjoyed neat, it truly shines as a mixing rum.

Once again, you have to admit this is a great solid bottling. Delivers everything you expect from a LeGalion. Compared to the Funky Fury #2 I had in the glass before, it loses the comparison by a hair.

I just really like this Galion profile! It's almost a cross between a High Ester Jamaican and a Sport Mourant. Young PM with olive, salt, meat meets High Ester Jamaican with peach, ester, marzipan.

Number 1 of the bottles, always a pleasure. ^^ . Degenerate rum. Really very cool to discover. Made me drool. Nose: right away, I know I'm at least on an 8/10, explosion of fruit/exotic fruits, glue, ester. Letting it air out more, it leans more towards glue. Palate: first impression indescribable, lots going on. Notes of acidity, very ripe fruits, yogurt. Then spices and smokiness come in. Very confusing. I don't find the olive and bacon that others do. Finish: mostly oily and fruity. A bit of glue and ester. Empty glass: glue. Conclusion, doesn't taste like it smells, you get shaken all through the tasting... But you have to like this kind of flavor.

Un Galion, dans la plus pure tradition. On aime ou on déteste. Olive et saumure au nez. Puis des fruits apparaissent en bouche. C'est intense, sec, salé, presque fumé. Fermenté. Une jolie touche de fraise en fin de bouche. Typique.

Nice Le Galion expression. On the nose it is mostly savoury for me with olives and salmiak. The palette brings it more in the fruity territory with a creamyness. On the finish it goes back to olive and smoke for me. I don’t get as much fruits as others. It seems like a crazy potpourri of flavours but somehow it works and it is quite balanced. It feels soft and very drinkable.

A fragrant nose. Brine, olive, quite sharp and very good. The alcohol is moderately controlled: waiting or a few drops of water suit it well. On the palate: you find olives and brine, salt. But also iodine and smokiness. Umami, maybe butter or yogurt indeed. And then comes the bite of the alcohol. Up to that point, it's very very good. The finish is a bit disappointing, it is very good: the alcohol bite disappears and only the vegetal, olive, and finally the sugar and even a bit of licorice remain. Overall, the experience is very good. We're already in very good territory. At a quite affordable price given the quality! Very, very convinced.

Amazing profile! I'm still a total rum newbie, but this drop blew me away. On the nose, a strong pineapple dominates right away. On the palate, it surprises with a salty note and fine olive spice. The finish hits with a smoky-salty note combined with an almost creamy-fruity mix of yogurt and pineapple. Unusual, complex, and absolutely delicious!
