One of the best Fijis most tasters here have had, and the ratings back it up. Solvent, burnt rubber and green olive lead, then a basket of overripe yellow fruit — pineapple, pear, apricot — with light oak and burnt sugar underneath. At 56.6% the alcohol sits remarkably well integrated. Give it 30 minutes of air; it rounds out and turns dry, spicy and long.

Mature Fiji rum with a calm, rather dry profile. Dark fruits, tea, some leather and wood on the nose, overall rather restrained. Spicy and slightly tart on the palate with little sweetness, some cocoa and a dry, slightly bitter note on the finish. Not a fruit bomb and nothing playful. Solid, mature and harmonious, but more for lovers of this dry style.

Edit : rhum club Lille. chocolat & pamplemousse, groseille. Superbe ! Le coup de cœur de la soirée. Une claque ou une caresse ? Un nez qui m’a quelque part rappelé certains Samaroli, le vieux bois, le moulin à poivre de la grand mère et l’origan. En bouche, c’est doux, onctueux, puis l’explosion d’agrumes, de pamplemousse, d’orange sanguine, sur un lit de poivre et d’épices de cuisine. Ça pétille sur la langue, j’adore ! Est ce qu’il me faudrait pas une 3eme bouteille…? J’en parle à mon banquier de suite.

Well, no, this Fiji is not for me, it doesn't really remind me of Hampden either. A really strange one, lots of solvent and rubber are noticeable here. Also some wood and cask, but unfortunately not my thing.

I'm a bit skeptical because there are many praising but anonymous reviews for this rum. The only way is to try it yourself: On the nose definitely very intense and fruity, surprisingly also ripe Williams pear here, alcohol is restrained. On the palate more cask influence, quite sweet, lots of citrus fruits. In the finish dry and fruity, a few tannins. Yes, a very good rum from Fiji, alcohol well integrated, intense, fruity – that's how I imagine it. If you like high-ester rum, this is the right one.

#6390 Relaxing with a little sample while watching a crime series on the TV. A very good and well balanced Fiji rum. Intense fruity with some diesel nots mixed with some olives and salt. The palate is dry and lightly bitter.

I just dipped my lips into this Fiji when I opened it and thought it would be a very nice rum. Today, I’m giving it more time and every moment of this tasting confirms that initial impression. A very woody nose with lovely stewed fruits and Jamaican-style esters. You can tell the alcohol will be present but it’s not sharp. On the palate, a nice bite of alcohol. Then some spicy heat. Then very quickly ripe fruit, lots of lightness, big indulgence. Before the wood kicks in and dries everything out. The finish is darker and bitter. The cask reminds us it’s there. A superb rum with a superb evolution. Can’t wait to see what oxidation will bring. Great selection and a value for money that’s hard to beat! Edit: a very oily, almost soapy side. A very indulgent milk chocolate. Not much evolution from the bottle despite oxidation so far.

Unfortunately, the tasting glass is broken and the vacation rental doesn't have any more. Great aged Fiji and truly my best so far. Super balanced with lots of citrus fruits, various tropical fruits, solvents, esters, and burnt sugar. The finish lasts forever!

On the nose: Interesting blend of woody notes, fermented/overripe citrus notes, leather notes and somekind of baking spices. Balanced. Taste: Woody, citrus, light allspice notes, solvents and light smoky rubber notes very nicely integrated together. Alcohol is integrated perfectly. Finish: Warm and dry with woody, lightly burnt rubber and slightly bitter citrus notes. One of the best rums from Fiji that i have tasted. I could tell the quality of this rum just from how the notes were blending together on the nose and it did not dissapoint on tasting. Recommend!

Super tasty Fiji rum, not as funky as some from the SPD, but all the more fruity. Very complex. This rum is just fun. Overall overripe and dry. Awesome long finish that invites you to keep sipping =D

After the excellent 2003 TDL, Spirit Gallery has undoubtedly shown a very good touch again here. Extremely tasty 2001 Fiji. On the nose and palate, there's also a slight Rockley note. From memory, I would say it's on the same level as the legendary Isla del Ron.

Fiji in pure form! Burnt rubber and plastic, battery acid (😃) and juicy pineapple, lime, bitter orange, and overripe pear. The alcohol is very well integrated, pleasant light sweetness and roasted notes in the finish without becoming too much. For a long time, a really good Fiji rum again!!

On the nose, it's insanely complex: a bit of ester, solvent, plum, blood orange, marzipan. All this maelstrom blends wonderfully well. It's also very floral and spicy, with Tonka bean, dark chocolate. This rum is insanely original and you spend ages sniffing every aroma variation, with that tobacco and delicate woodiness for such an old rum. On the palate, it's madness, a real party! Incredibly complex and dark like an excellent Guyana, you find cappuccino coffee, a bit milky and creamy in the mouth. It's full and explosive with leather and ripe citrus. It's super indulgent and round as well, with alcohol impeccably integrated despite 56.6%. The finish is long, full, on coffee with smoky notes of roasted and toasted spices. Licorice brings a touch of bitterness along with almond.

Another compelling release from the South Pacific Distillery in Fiji—but who's surprised, considering the vintage? The intense aroma of the 2001 Fijis practically begs to be called a "Heavy Fiji Style." Tea, citrus, olive, wood, smoke, subtle caramel...you have to like it, but in terms of complexity, it's very impressive.

Very beautiful Fiji profile. The 2001s are really top. Nice complexity, funky as desired, nice length. Aeration is necessary, I found it much rounder after an hour in the glass. You find quite a lot of fruits, yellow and tropical. Solvent, a bit of rubber. I really love this profile ❤️❤️❤️

Excellent Fiji 2001! In the same league as the LMDW flag and Rock&Rhum. 👃 Pineapple, Fijian esters, green olive, petroleum, diesel, yellow fruit, dry lemony freshness. 😋 Overripe yellow tropical fruit (pineapple, banana), Fiji's typical good esters, light brine, petroleum flavors, light caramel, sweet vanilla.

First impression: This is a very tasty Fiji. The typical aroma profile is present, but not so dominant, and the usual metallic note is more in the background and is complemented by a nice caramel sweetness. Really a successful bottling. Edit: Not entirely dissimilar to the Velier Hampden LFCH 2011 for my taste.

Very nice Fiji, great alcohol integration and, in terms of profile, feels a little closer to the Rockleys than other bottlings of the vintage. The only downside is the rather short and unspectacular finish.

Fiji 2001 – 56.6% Aged 23 years, 100% pot still, bottled cask strength at 56.6%. Relatively “funky,” with a nice balance between tropical fruits, vanilla, a slight touch of olive, and that solvent/glue side. On the palate, a concentrate of tropical fruits and smoke, still with those typical solvent notes, very drinkable despite the aromatic richness. We compared it with our reference Fiji 2001: Rock & Rhum 22 Y at 59%. The Spirit Gallery stands out with a more complex nose and a cleaner attack. The Rock & Rhum impresses with its endless finish. Result: perfect tie, each has their preferences, but both offer a remarkable experience.

Great example of a good and heavy Fiji rum. It bursts with those typical industrial notes, accompanied with some fruits but they are in the background. It is a dry rum that actually shines best in the finish for me. That is where the fun notes like chocolate and orange come out. This is not a casual drinking rum. For that reason a sample is more than enough for me. Great stuff though!

Nose: Marzipan, fish oil, banana, papaya, leather, rubber, sea salt, apple, Mouth: Eucalyptus, marzipan, rubber, clove, banana, pineapple, mango Finish: Lovely build of flavour that gradually dissipates in waves for a long finish This is a really special rum. Overall, it is quite Jamaican reminiscent with some nice esters coming through. The nose is heavy and the palate packs a punch as well. You have some tropical and slight industrial flavours coming through but blended with this heavy medicinal eucalyptus and creamy baked good expression which stays on the tongue for ages. Alcohol is very well integrated. Big fan of this one.

A nose full of complexity to identify the main players. A very ripe fruit profile pear/prune/apricot spoiled. A soft scent of sliced almonds where the alcohol is superbly well integrated. A palate between young wood and spoiled fruit and quite a bit of spice. A length very well drawn towards bitterness at the end of the mouth invites the host to take a little more to pinpoint this taste that we can't identify.

A complex, funky, addictive Fiji 23y The nose evolves throughout the tasting on varnish, leather, very ripe fruits, raw sugar... a cookie on steroids!!! On the palate it’s creamy, oily, heavy, we find a continuity with the nose while stretching towards a darker, woody, bitter profile, dark chocolate, clove,... Delicious.

The nose is funky, bringing the esters of the Fiji islands to the forefront followed by a very pleasant basket of yellow-fleshed fruits! The palate is consistent with the nose, apricots fight with the esters and the light wood, but they take the lead slightly. The balance is really remarkable, the alcohol is superbly integrated and the finish leaves us with dried apricots and light wood. A simply incredible Fiji and its price is just as incredible. 30 minutes of airing is essential to fully enjoy this must-have reference!

A magnificent nose, pineapple, mango, pear, very ripe. A sweet side that reminds me of a marshmallow stand at the funfair. Then the classic Fiji spices follow. Very evolving, the more the glass aerates, the more you find the spices, rubber. On the palate the spices, burnt rubber, wood take up a lot of space. A bit of a shame that the fruits have almost disappeared. Long finish on the markers present on the palate. Nice cask selection. Slightly disappointed that the palate doesn’t reflect this enchanting nose. But it remains very good. Bravo Benjamin.
