Then there are a few rums to cool things down :) Somehow not a typical Jamaican for me. It's quite fruity, a little pineapple and banana, but also quite sweet, caramel stands out here. And wood is also recognizable.

Freshly poured into the glass, I am greeted by esters and glue. But typical PM notes are also present, such as licorice and leather, albeit very discreetly. With more time in the glass, more and more fruity aromas take over, especially sweet mango. Subtly reminiscent of the 2005 VRWs, but lacking in complexity.

So I had to try it right away after I saw that Kevin had given it a 9. A little too high for me personally. After a longer (unwanted) time in the glass, he had developed really well again.

On the nose: Glue, esters. Woody. Roasted. Tobacco notes. Chocolate and light mocha notes. Taste: Oily mouthfeel, spicy, woody, roasted. Tobacco notes. Dried fruits. Leather. Light chocolate. Nice and round. Alcohol is integrated very well. Finish: Quite rich palate on the finish. Spices, dried fruits and woody notes. Good level of sweetness. Medium-long finish Very balanced and good Guyanese rum for sipping. I really liked sipping this.

A bold, flavoursome ester bomb: medicinal, overripe tropical fruit, but also wood, nuts, leather, tobacco, spice and citrus. 85 points Nose: varnish, nailpolish remover, glue, pencil shavings, putty, overripe pineapple, olive, new wood. Screams for aeriation. Upon aeriation, dark notes of leather pop up, plus cooked plum, peach, white tobacco. Palate: very oily, yet certainly with a good dose of esters. Still glue and varnish, overripe pineapple. Now also nuts, and then leather, oak, a bit of brine, allspice. Finish: drying, clove, ginger, with the same ester-like profile, an acidic note of citrus which I really like.

Very nice DHE blend. High fruitiness on the nose as well as on the palate. Here I also get lots of chocolate and roasted notes which create a Michele enhanced Guyana profile. From memory on par with the SBS and Nobilis blends.

Northern Lights Meeting 07/25: Nose very fruity but also sticky. Taste is strongly fruity. Good spice and nice alcohol. In the mouth then very spicy, some tobacco; but quite one-dimensional. Finish rather short.

👃🏼 The esters are there, but delicate compared to the powerful Jamaicans I've tasted. There's a touch of Cleopatra glue that takes us back to childhood. Marzipan-like almond is mixed with solvent. You can smell fresh pineapple and star anise. It's all very pastry-like, very pleasant indeed. 👅 The palate is highly complex: Tutti frutti-like fruitiness again, with a very floral side of heady flowers. It's hard to put it all together, but it's a bomb of exotic fruit, fairly unspicy and woody. 🎆 Ah la la, there's the rub. Despite the esters, this rum fades too quickly. It's a pity, because it lowers the note. I'm not a big fan of Guyana rums in general. They're typically rums you either love or hate. I can't claim to have seen many on my rum journey, so my opinion is relative. This is the best Guyana rum I've tasted so far. My rating is 87/100. It could have had more with a longer, more complex finish.

It's great, precisely because it's so digestibly unusual. Great profile. Even Lisa liked it and that's saying something @Kevin right...:-). I hadn't had it in a glass before and didn't really know what to expect. Peach and stone meets wood glue...unfortunately awesome!

Northern Lights Meeting July 2025 Already delicious.

Northern Lights Meeting July 19, 2025 Exciting piece. Would have guessed zero on Guyana. Definitely something for the RumX advent calendar Super fruity on the nose, with a hint of apple and some plummy sweetness. Guyana comes through more in the mouth. Still misleading, the finish is astringent.

Road Rummers S8T6 Jamaica supertasting The Bastards fooled us at the tasting, almost Hampden like. But when you know what it is, you recognise the peach. Extreme fruity from start to finish. The fruit really evolves. Will need to taste this again! Nice complex rum! Do not compare this to the PDHG mark, just enjoy a beautiful rum!
