Opinions land all over the place on this one, and "young" is the word that keeps coming back. Forget the usual Barbados vanilla and coconut — this is spiky and raw, with varnish, citrus peel, dried fruit and a pepper-and-tannin bite. At 65% the alcohol is loud and a bit sharp. One taster caught a mineral, almost medicinal Rockley-style edge that made it interesting rather than off-putting.

19.07.2025 Retasting at the Nordlichter Treffen. ----------------- #5435 28.06.2025 Bottle birth. Nose Light, alcoholic, light mint, light varnish, faint wood, light pineapple, light citrus, light perfume. Palate Warm, medium intense, naturally sweet, light spice, medium spicy, dried fruit, light floral, faint caramel, varnish, tannins,light wood. Finish Long and warm, spicy, medium intense light dry, naturally sweet, light caramel, tannins. Empty glass Tannins, sour, light mint, faint caramel, mill chocolate.

A sample from Kim at the 1st Whisky Live Germany... Barbados, but totally different... Nose: completely atypical, no vanilla, no coconut! Instead spicy, herbal-floral and fruity. Initially slightly salty with honey, almost heading towards Rockley, but just almost. Also feels mineral-medicinal, has something like a plaster note. But not unpleasant, rather interesting. I like it. Sour fruit notes like gooseberry and lemon or citron, but also some mint and chamomile. If you like Rockley, you'll like this too. 8.3 Palate: the slight Rockley impression continues here. But nowhere near as sweet and elegant, more sharp and rough. Salty-peppery-bitter at the start. Medicinal this time with iodine. Lime peel fits well too. Amidst all these harsh aromas, there's also some honey hiding. Overall not as nice as the nose. It's just still young. 7.5

Nordlichter Treffen 07/25: Nase etwas sprittig, ich rieche Birne, Essig mit etwas Luft auch floralen Noten. Im Mund würzig und dann kräftig sprittig mit leicht scharfem Abgang. Holt mich nicht so sehr ab.

Northern Lights Meeting July 19, 2025 On the nose young, a bit alcoholic, not much happening. On the palate alcoholic, a bit sharp, a little fruit. Short finish Doesn't really convince me. Could still use a few years or maybe even a finish

Sorry, but I have to repeat the same old song about Romdeluxe here. Way too young, unbalanced, and the alcohol is more than present. With maybe a good finish or more time in the cask, it could have really become something good.
