It's thick, dark and almost syrupy in the glass, with sour cherry and black currant up front, then leather, cocoa, tobacco and a cooling menthol streak running through it. At 50.4% the alcohol sits well integrated — the density and complexity do the talking. Barely reads like a classic agricole, and that's part of the fascination.

Wow! The fruit practically jumps right into your nose. Cherry and cassis describe it very well. But alongside that, there's a depth. Vanilla, caramel, tobacco. Great. Saying it's complex is almost an understatement. In the mouth, the wild—or in this case harmonious—ride continues. Along with the all-encompassing fruitiness comes a menthol kick. Intense and deep. Plus recurring hints of caramel, vanilla, tobacco, leather. Really impressive.

Wow! What a bomb! And what a beautiful dark color with long and thick legs running down the glass... On the nose, intense notes of sour cherries, blackcurrants, a bit of mint, thyme, as well as dark chocolate and leather and a lot of influence from oak wood. On the palate then a pleasant sweetness and acidity reminiscent of caramelized blackcurrants. Rounded off with some mint and lavender, as well as orange peel zest. In the finish, somewhat strong bitter chocolate, tonka bean and pleasant tannins from the oak barrel. Sweet-sour, subtly bitter and spicy, incredibly heavy, thick and oily concentrated and with an insane elegance and fullness on the palate. I've really rarely experienced such dense complexity on the palate. By far one of the best drops I've ever had in the glass, thanks for the split to Alex and to Rob for the recommendation! My expectations were more than met! 😍😍😍 Reminds incredibly strongly of a really good Creme de Cassis with this super cool sweet-sour caramelized aroma!🤩

9,4:On the nose, a top agricole with sugarcane, minty, vegetal with thyme, roasted oak and notes like cocoa, perhaps dark chocolate, roasted nuts, spicy, tons of various fruits like dried currants, prunes, red fruits with sour cherry, hints of coconut, citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils...so round and balanced.👌 On aeration, the sugarcane becomes flowery, earthy, new wave of fruits join like raisins, dried apricots and figs, black currants, some leather and allspice. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is delicious with sweet sugarcane honeycomb, grassy, minty, flowery with lavender, later black tea, eucalyptus, slightly mineral, various fruits like dried figs, apricots, yellow fruits, citrus with orange peel, black currant, later dark berries and bitter orange, as the oak is roasted with caramelized burnt sugar, cocoa, tonka bean, dark, when the rum is well oxidized, even milk chocolate, spicy with vanilla. 9,2:The finish is very round, long, dry, full bodied, concentrated, delicious, with notes from the palate lingering on forever...😋.

I'll eat my hat if this rum doesn't skyrocket in ratings despite the breathtaking price. It's just unbelievably good. As a "rustic palate," I obviously don't pick up as many fine details as crazyforgoodbooze, but I can almost fully agree with his review, especially regarding the density and quality. The only difference is that I mainly smell and taste tea. The best rum I've had in a long time. A masterpiece. Proof me wrong.

Finally managed to get a few cl... Many thanks to Rob at this point... now I'm curious 💥... Incredibly great nose, very complex Agricole comes through really well, nicely floral, silky smooth and lots of delicious fruits, leather, a bit of cocoa, it just goes on and on... Wonderful. On the palate, it matches the nose, very similar to the nose but also nicely filling the mouth and oily. Freaking awesome stuff!!!!

What madness... awesome rum. From the nose to the finish, a poem. Strong combo of rich, heavy aging with a great light fruitiness (red fruits, sour cherry, raspberry) and a nice menthol freshness. An exceptional rum – also for molasses fans. It's been running through my head since yesterday. Going for another one. One point up.

Color and viscosity alone are already great. The rum sluggishly sways back and forth in the glass when gently swirled! Nose: not primarily like a classic Agricole, also reminds me of Guyana rum. The alcohol is barely noticeable on the nose. There is A LOT to discover and I could stay here endlessly. Palate: This is not rum, this is syrup 😉! Amazing how dense the aromas are. Heavy sweetness of burnt sugar, only slightly bitter, black tea and so on and so forth... Aftertaste: medium length, dry, fine tannins and again a wide variety of aromas! This is easily the best Agricole rum I've had in the glass so far. This is mainly because the rum doesn't give the impression of a usual Agricole at all. Also, the alcohol strength is perfect. This is really something special and I recommend everyone to try this rum if the opportunity arises.

Wow, a really great Agricole, I really like it. It's very fruity, we have lots of dark berries, but also sour cherry, bitter orange, blackcurrant, and orange peel. Great stuff.

#5897 27.10.2025 Enjoying a few samples after work while watching the new TV series "IT: Welcome to Derry" Nose Intense, wood, light roasted, agricole, sugarcane, light floral, light herbs, citrus. Palate Medium intense, warm, wood, light roasted, dry, peppery, grass, light tea, light ginger, light floral, herbs, citrus. Finish Long and warm, wood, herbs, medium spicy, dry, ginger, citrus. Empty glass Light grass, caramel, ginger, light nutts, light mineral. Needs time in the glass to really settle and open up properly. A very nice and wonderful balanced rum.

I opened it after a long day, and then it practically jumps at me: what is that! The first impression: wow! Incredibly dark and almost viscous like syrup. Due to the rather low ABV, the density and complexity come across immediately! On the nose baked plum, dried dates, red fruits, currants, orange peel, furniture wax, butterscotch... really heavy, hard to grasp everything. On the palate leather, tobacco, caramel, black tea, barrel, bitterness, tannins, earthiness (a bit like Cuban cigars). I am deeply impressed, for me even above the Velier Damoiseau 1980 Full Proof! Reference!

A very beautiful, soft and pleasant nose with liveliness, yellow fruits (mirabelle), dry herbs, flowers and mint. The first sip is super pleasant with still the mirabelle but also dates, dry earth and a sort of very reduced vegetable juice. The finish is obviously long, but particularly soft, especially at the very end. Is it a Paxarete or Pedro Ximenez cask a bit watered down? This rum, quite delicious and complex as desired, isn't it a bit too sweet? That's what, in my opinion, takes away some points.

Truly, this is an excellent and complex Agricole… from nose to finish it surprises with ever-changing new aromas.. only a clearly noticeable violet aroma on the palate bothers me in the overall picture. That denies it an absolute top rating.

For a Midsummer, lets put something special to the glass. On the nose: At first it had slightly toasted grassy note to it, but then it opened up something really special that is hard to describe. Slightly toasted. Complex. Red berries/dried fruits. Light minty notes. Little bit of barrel notes in there. Im getting some nutty notes. Cocoa notes in the background. Taste:Dark berries, minty notes, barrel notes, light caramel notes. Oily mouthfeel. That went to complex quite fast and im loving the balance between different notes also with the level of sweetness. Alcohol is integrated very good. Finish: Complex palate continues with herbal notes, dark berries, minty notes and slightly caramelized note. Oily and slightly dry. Delicious. Long finish I am so glad that i have another samplebottle of this rum. This blew me away, because of the delicious complexity that this rum was able to provide from nosing to finish. Recommended!

What a blast! A fantastic rum on the level of the top demeraras! And prof of my rating for a Reimonenq release (RX4758) at standard abv where I was wondering, how this exceptional rum would be at cask strength. Now I know. If RX4758 already was rated by me at 9.1, this one lifts the bar. I even increase my rating to 9.5. It’s rich, intense, depth, dried fruits, cinnamon, the typical grassy notes linger on the palate endless. A masterpiece!

11.04.2026 Franconian Tasting Meeting at Rumurmel. Blind I definitely did not guess an Agricole. Having had many high-quality, rare unicorns in the glass, I am not afraid to give a few more points sometimes. What a beast.

Rhum Fest Paris 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm my score. Absolutely amazing Reimonenq, tried at the VIF area and it was the clear winner. The profile is the usual of the distillery but it was simply overpowered

Update: Tasted in comparison with the Bally 1999. I admit that if there is no addition in this rum, the result is quite incredible! Really cool indeed! The red fruit / menthol side is very pleasant. Very concentrated with a lot of smoothness. Special mention to the well-present lavender. The finish is remarkably long. Hard to believe that there is no sugar or anything else added!

Franconian Tasting Gang meets at Rumurmel, April 2026 (Thanks for the access to the rum treasure chamber. What a cool location!) Wow, what a bomb! Very fruity, sweet and yet heavy nose. Sour cherry, red berries, cocoa, leather and lots of menthol. Similar notes on the palate, with heavy sweetness, wood and mocha. Great, long finish. The color and aroma spectrum make me suspect some kind of finish.

There are Agricoles that can play at the top. This one definitely belongs there. Insanely awesome profile with relatively much sweetness. Very soft and smooth, yet complex and with its own character. The problem with this rum: it is simply too easy to drink for the price.

Treated myself to this sample for my birthday. Thanks to Serge for the split. Here's the result right from the start. I'm completely blown away. The most complex thing I've had in a glass so far. The color is quite dark. A mix of copper and dark amber. The first nose impression is round, cozy, oak, warmth, spiciness. A slight sweetness in the scent. With air, a noticeable delicious fresh menthol note comes later. Overall rather spicy cask notes. Even the smell is highly enticing. The palate is then a hammer. Full, oily, strong in aromas. Crazy complexity. First the oak, which you also get on the nose with a minimal fine bitter touch and underlying brown sugar. Then one layer after another comes, and the transition of the aromas when you take a sip into the endless finish could hardly be more harmonious. After swallowing, bursts of cassis, mint, then very light subtle vegetal aromas, slight grassy parts in the finish, then again a bit of that fresh menthol note. Top class.

Great agricole, incredibly dense and heavy, with an outstanding mouthfeel and high intensity. Lots of wood and spices, raspberry, a bit of licorice, the typical perfume note and much more in great harmony. A delight.

Hallelujah, what is that? A comparatively young rum that really shows off! Incredibly complex, dark, woody-roasty, but still disturbingly bitter. What kind of cask was that? This rum plays the entire keyboard of dark aromas, from fruit over leather and cask to nut, everything is there, nicely intertwined and then perfected with a herbal mint. I'm thrilled!

On the nose it is rich, concentrated and warm with dried and red fruits, frangipani, violet, wood, sugar cane, leather and chocolate, wow! On the palate it is equally rich and concentrated with frangipani in the foreground along with violet followed by dried fruits, sugar cane, peppery spices, young wood, a bit of cocoa and citrus in the finish which is quite long. It has a drier aftertaste. In the empty glass frangipani, dried fruits and wood. It would have scored a bit higher if the frangipani had not been so dominant. Many thanks to Alex for the split! I tried mixing it with Bally 2010 and 2009 and it's nice to feel how the dry and sweet profiles complement each other, creating a unique and fascinating blend.

Wow, first the nose hits with mint and fruits like currants, sour cherries, and wood. On the palate, there's an explosion of mint but only briefly upfront, then the fruits come in—raspberries, blackberries, currants in the oak barrel. Extremely extraordinary. Nice long finish.

Wow what a jewel in the glass! I was reading the reviews before I had chance to taste it and was expecting high quality but it exceeded my expectations! Fruital and very intense nose, so complex on palate, berries, dried fruits, cafe, tea, leather, wood, bitter orange, citrus peel and I could continue... extremely complex and tasty. Very very good rum!

Damn tasty stuff. Totally crazy jungle notes on the nose. Highly complex, dark and heavy. Very "Reimonenq". The question is whether, like with the old Demeraras, barrel additives were used here... The color and very pronounced sweetness strongly suggest this. But definitely a historic, very exciting drop.

A spectacular nose. That really reminds me of an old reimonenq on steroids. But with the tasting comes a flavour that dominates the rest of the experience, that for me screams paxarette from every corner. The way the sweetness and the raisins work your palate is really comparable to those paxarette monsters of the 1980s whisky world. Only in this instance I feel like it drowns out the rum so immensely, I hardly get to taste it. I feel like a truly great rum was done a huge mis-service here....
