I wasn’t sure what to expect from this but was very curious to see if it lives up to the Fiji for use in elevated cocktails. Billed as a Mai Tai rum, I don’t think it does what it was intended; it isn’t punchy enough to stand up in a complex drink. However, in something like a daiquiri it would really shine. I don’t think the value is there like it is with the Fiji, but a very nice rum in a style that isn’t easy to find in my market.

Read full review →Holmes Cay continues to bottle quality bottles here under their single origin line. These Traditionnel bottlings from Savanna, to me anyway, are in that classic rum flavor line. A bit of sweet, spices, and some nice light oak to round it all together. This was created by Holmes Cay to serve as an addition to creating tiki recipies. But, its pretty nice and easy to sip neat as well. This is a very good and versatile rum.
