"Nice smooth, spicy and some citrusy fruitiness" sums up the entry-level Eminente well. This is a soft, light Cuban: caramel and honey on the nose, a sweet mild palate with brown sugar and a touch of marzipan, peppery wood underneath. The catch most tasters agree on is the short finish — though a couple note dried-fruit notes that creep back a minute or two after a sip.

#6773 09.05.2026 A small online tasting with my friend while talking about which Rum Events to participate in 2027. Prettyd ecent bottling in my mind. Fruity with come caramel and light roasted wood. Rather light and sweet profile.

Very smooth and super mild Cuban. Clearly more fruit like peach and mirabelle compared to the 7-year-old Eminente. Overall a bit too "thin" for my taste but still very smooth and balanced. For 15-20€ I would rather go for the 7-year-old.

Nose: pleasant and accessible, with warm, indulgent notes, without excess, and a beautiful overall roundness. Palate: smooth and consistent, faithful to the nose, easy to drink, with a simple but controlled structure. Finish: unfortunately very short, which detracts somewhat from the pleasure and leaves a feeling of frustration. It should be kept in mind that this is Eminente's entry-level product. Having tasted all three, I find the range to be consistent overall, both in terms of progression and price. This Carta Oro, available in supermarkets, offers good value for money, but the overly fleeting finish limits the emotional impact. Rating: 7/10 — just "good."

The Eminente Carta Oro is a good Cuban rum. Right away on the nose, you get sweet woody scents. I'd describe it as caramel-like and honey-like. In the finish of the aroma, I still detect slight Agricole-style notes. The taste is quite sweet and mild with a classic Cuban flavor profile. Slightly woody with peppery notes. Unfortunately, the "rum flavor" finish is very short, but after 1-2 minutes, a dried fruit aroma develops in the mouth. I would definitely recommend taking a small sip and then waiting 3-4 minutes before the next one. Because the dried fruit aromas are a highlight.
