Hampden S.B.S Jamaica (9. German Rum Festival) DOK 2018
People already hooked on high-ester Hampden are the audience here. It's a DOK bomb — nail polish, glue, overripe pineapple and pear, with light wood and pepper from the young cask. The PX sherry barely shows beyond the color; the esters swallow it. Oily, intense, dry-dusty finish that lingers long. One taster flat-out said it's "not for beginners."
- Massive ester fruit
- Long dry finish
- Oily texture

How does Hampden S.B.S Jamaica (9. German Rum Festival) DOK 2018 taste?
Aggregated from 42 community reviews.
Wild, high-ester DOK Hampden bomb Most call it a textbook ester bomb — wildly fruity and funky with a long dry finish. A few feel the PX sherry gets lost, and one wasn't won over by the glue-heavy profile.

For its young age an excellent rum... it offers everything you expect from a Jamaican with this mark! Top!!

88 Punkte

Only the second time I’ve tasted a DOK as far as I know. Not for beginners, that’s for sure. A lot of acidic and chemical notes from start to finish (nail polish, aceton, etc.). The dry but still smooth sensation in the finish is something special. I do like it though.

Considering the price tag at release this is a very nice rum. From opening the bottle you get the ester and fruits and once rested the flavours just sneak across the table. Intense, fruity with nice ester and glue notes, light wood with spices. In the empty glass i can pick up faint chocolate notes. Oily on the palate and it draws really nice curtains in the glass.

the PX Sherry Cask maturation is initially only noticeable in the color, the fat esters set the tone, but after a while in the glass also come red fruits and spicy notes, more then still on the palate, with a toasty finish. So really can pick me up the combination then but somehow not...

These sherry finished Jamaicans are not worlds apart, but I dig it. In this one, the sherry influence is somewhat less, according to my impression. In the mouth it comes across a bit spicier, the wood influence is well noticeable despite the young age. For me a little weaker than the comparable newer bottlings with lower mark

Erst süß, dann sauer. Extrem vergoren fruchtig, esterlastig.
