long Pond in perfection! my absolute reference when it comes to LP🙏🤤🥭🇯🇲 fully ripe mango & banana, caramel, almonds, dried dates, in the finish a bit of cocoa, espresso, ginger, leather and barrel and insanely intense mint right at the end but then wrapped again by mango and almond. this thing must be made for Mai Tais🤤🥭🇯🇲❤️ Awesome! why didn't I discover it earlier?!🙈😓 It's an absolute mystery to me how the other Teca 15y can have such a completely different profile after 'gammelfleisch' and this one is just unbelievably delicious, fruity, velvety and balanced! 😵🙈 New additional note: salt & vinegar chips + bacon + banana bread 🤣 love it!!

On the nose, there are solvents, rubber, leather/tobacco, marzipan, raisins and caramel. But it's so concentrated that it borders on the nauseating. On the palate, the attack is harsh! Not to be put in anyone's hands. Intense, powerful, oily. A spicy profile with the leather/tobacco of the nose, oak and caramel. Plus the famous solvents and rubber. The finish is long on coffee/cocoa. Very astringent. The advantage of this type of keel is that the level will drop very slowly. Once opened, it will last a few months (years) in the bar. Clearly, it's not my thing. I just can't get into the swing of things. But you have to admit, it's well done.

Massive tropical fruit explosion with banana and mango, accompanied by vanilla and distinctive ester funk. Spicy wood notes and a hint of tar add depth. On the palate very intense and powerful, yet surprisingly well-balanced and not overwhelming. Long finish with fruits, spice, and a slightly smoky bitterness.

After opening the bottle, a fruit/ester/solvent smell immediately spreads in the room! In the glass, after some resting, delicate vanilla, marzipan and passion fruit aromas join the first impression... just my thing! On the palate first a heavy sweetness.. creamy the rum spreads, accompanied by tropical fruits, young wood/branches, allspice and vanilla/anis! The alcohol is perfectly integrated... I could chew on it for hours! The finish is long and intense with tropical fruit (passion fruit), cardamom, young wood and light ester! I'm thrilled! Edit: Tasted again today in a blind tasting by Mirco. I first confused it with the NRJ Teca.. but that's because my bottle has been open longer and the rum becomes noticeably smoother. My rating remains.

Day 16 of the Samples de Luxe calendar and tasted again a year and a half later. An almost Guyana nose with brown sugar, leather and varnished wood. Depth, fruit and acidity. The alcohol hits hard but the palate remains perfectly balanced. Vegetal notes emerge, eucalyptus and cut grass. Passion fruit and sandalwood. The finish is as long as one could wish, and the sweetness of this rum becomes even more apparent as the alcohol evaporates, leaving rich, complex aromas in the empty glass. A rich, powerful rum, a success!

This is a retasting and I stick to my initial score. A great release and thanks to Thunderbird for the sample swap 😊 ----- Wow, this is a really nice rum. The nose is nice and fruity from opening the bottle. The fruityness is wall balanced with spices and of course esters and some polish. The palate matches the nose with its fruitiness and spices. A heavy yet balanced palate with a bit of wood and menthol. The finish is long and fruity with ginger and lugt coffee/barrel.

Absolute top notch LP release without a doubt. Coming back to this is a joy every time. While the nose is loaded with esters - glue, nail polish and other chemical notes - and lots of punch, the palate - while still extremly intense - provides a very complex and balanced profile playing the whole range across intense fruits, esters, wood, some herbal notes and an unexpected heavy sweetness. This is intense yet balanced and just an excellent high ester rum. Sidenote: from the freshly opened bottle, there is a rather unpleasant bit on the palate. However, this fades after some time and oxidation.

Online tasting of various TECA and TECC organized by Mirco. First of all, many thanks for the great split to be able to try them all side by side. Now I had to readjust a few ratings. Tasted Pueblo del Ron 2024 at the fair. Although I already had a sample of it at home, thanks to Serge's advice I couldn't resist having it poured into my glass. At €5 for 2cl, it's now a no-brainer. What a cracker, nothing more needs to be said.

Tasted after the TECA 2007 NRJ. The nose is of the same kind but richer and more indulgent. It's ultra funky, fruity, full of esters. On the palate, again, we have the same markers as the 2007 but complexity and indulgence are a notch higher. It's really very good. The finish is soft and long, with a hint of acidity. It's indulgent as desired despite the strength. It remains spicy even several minutes after the last sip. A pure marvel. Edit: I probably tasted the last 2 cl of this rum and it brought a tear to my eye. How good it is!

Good stuff. Association of a fermented fruit iced tea. Crass nail polish remover. The sun in the glass. Super tasty. A nose to fall in love with, easily over 90 points. In the mouth, however, the acidity is too hefty for me. But that should be personal reference. Overall, an extremely horny drop.

A sensational Long Pond, which starts on the nose with very beautiful phenolic notes, abundant exotic fruits and very indulgent pastry and sweet notes, all offering a harmonious and aromatic profile as desired. On the palate, you feel a greasy and oily texture that perfectly matches the indulgence of the fruits, the floral freshness, the astringency of the phenolic notes and the finesse of the spices and wood. It's a very balanced rum, with great roundness and extraordinary complexity. The very long finish extends the fruity, spicy and woody aromas, with slight roasted notes of coffee and caramel. An extraordinary rum, on the edge of olfactory and gustatory orgasm.

Actually, the ITP - VRW - STCE range is my comfort zone for relaxed drinking. But this TECA is not only a flavor bomb, but also scary tasty and drinkable at the same time. Absolute banger.

Wow, what a bomb of intensity! 👃 The dominant smell is a mix of overripe tropical fruits (mango, papaya, banana) carried by magnificent finely woody esters and vanilla cooked in its butter. The woodiness also brings a well-cooked caramel. In the background, the characteristic smell of school glue stick. A more basic aspect, like the inside of an old copper still. A bit of hot tar, a kind of sweet asphalt in full sun. I also get a note of green olive in a jar hanging around. 😋 First, I get very candied, very sweet pineapple, then the rest of the tropical fruits from the nose. Some spicy little pricks, also candy from the confectioner. The astringency of overripe fruits. I find candied citrus zest from time to time. Freshly opened vanilla with a knife. All magnified by the always dominant esters. A complex and dense palate. ⛳ Warm, long, very long, esters, old shipyard wood, pieces of pineapple and lime zest stuck in the palate. You can play with the tongue. Lots of green olive and anchovy paste in the empty glass. N.B. 3 months later, re-tasting this UFO. On the nose, I have smoky notes I didn't have on my first note, and a very sour candy finish! The lime/ginger combo helps a lot. There's always something to discover in this rum, luckily I was able to stock some samples.

Blind tasting. It's a Jamaican, no doubt about it. And one of those with esters. The fruit is very ripe, even rotten. There's a touch of almond powder and quite a bit of solvent. So I'm thinking of an NRJ bottle, probably a TECA (because I know TECC and STCE and it's not that). In the end, that's what it is. It's a good rum, but not particularly pleasant for me. It's nice to try, but not the kind of thing I like to drink for pleasure. So not a bottle I'd buy to sip.

After the two Velier STCE from 2005 and 2010, I’m curious what the much-praised 2005 TECA can do. The nose is intense but more closed. At least it’s harder for me to identify individual aromas. On the palate, however, there’s no doubt anymore that this is a different mark with a much higher ester count. A more intense wave of aromas rolls through the mouth, just how I love it, great! This is another intensity increase of the Long Pond profile compared to the STCE bottlings. I like it a lot! Unfortunately, the bottling is long sold out. So thanks to the community for the samples!

Complex Long Pond with a brilliant nose and palate. The smell hits you in the face, solvents, glue, ester, tropical fruit, wood, spices…. Very intense on the palate as well. One of the best HV bottles ever released.

2nd tasting after the TECA/TECC community blind tasting. The nose is quite round and balanced for a TECA, with esters, glue, varnish and solvents as well as dried fruit, spices and marzipan. The palate is intense and slightly astringent. Overripe fruit, esters, but also fermentation. Very good rum, but in my opinion a little too hyped and not worth the current prices on the 2nd/3rd market.

Retasted today along some of my favorite rums from Trinidad and Guyana. Brought it down a point with still an excellent score due to a small sulphur note. This is great, complete without any off notes. it's heavy, it's sweet, soury fruity with some mocha wood. Thanks JakobM for sharing the sample.

It just hits you in the face - a stunner, the nose solvent, glue, marzipan, dark, spicy - damn complex, not for beginners! The 62% is already well received but what started in the nose continues on the palate, here the tropical maturation comes into its own, astringency, heavy, tropical fruits and a hell of a lot of funk!!!! This LP TECA is an absolute benchmark! Great cinema

An intense ester profile meets 14 years of tropical aging. Not only do the exceptionally delicious fruit notes excite me here, but the toasty cask aromas also fit perfectly into the overall picture, which, thanks to the excellently integrated alcohol content, radiates not only complexity but also drinking pleasure. If you don’t have issues with astringency and glue notes, this is an absolutely fantastic rum!

Today I got to try the highly praised Long Pond 2005 Teca. Insanely intense and complex. Unmistakably a Long Pond. I can definitely understand the very good ratings. Unfortunately, it doesn't fully hit my taste.

This is the second time I've tasted this rum and it's still an amazing drop. The nose is full of solvents, varnish, paint and tropical fruits. The mouth brings more spicy notes and some citrus. The finish ends dry and is quite long.

Killer Long Pond, rarely had something this good in the glass! Nice beach drink, by the way 😎🏖️ On the nose, glue and spice from the barrel, plus fruits and first funk, fermented fruit and esters. It explodes on the tongue and goes powerfully forward, topped and rounded off by woody, spicy influences from the barrel. A great bottling that’s really fun, a real banger and highlight!

The nose is already very good, but on the palate the rum truly takes off. Tropical fruits, vanilla, wood, marzipan, chocolate, caramel, and esters. Very intense, complex, and rounded in the mouth. The long finish is delicious, complex, and intense! A very high-class rum.

Tasted outside, so only a rough description. I love the TECA 2007 and this bottling puts still one on top. The aroma intensity is enormous and meets exactly my taste. On the palate super complex with lots of power. Somehow everything occurs here at some point. From wood influence, a nice creamy sweetness to esters. The finish is infinitely long. A dream. I am in love. This is going to be expensive, but a bottle I must have.

Long Pond Tasting: One of the most extreme rums you have to try. Full in the face, to put it in youth slang. Incredibly delicious but one of the best examples of a rum you don't need every day. Simply a bomb: meaty, ester, tropical.

Very strong TECA nose. Complex. Legendary. Long finish. Tasting next to Velier TECA 2007. Both great, but depends on the mood which you prefer. The 2007 is a bit stronger while this is more balanced. I slightly prefer this one.
