The surprise here isn't the flavor but how much wood 18 years and a bourbon barrel pack in. It reads pure Foursquare — coconut, vanilla, toffee — but the cask pushes tobacco, cinnamon and polished oak forward too. One taster even mistook the aged profile for Jamaica. Edit: die letzten Tropfen, wie man mich hier kennt, in der Cola versenkt. Hier wird das ganze dann sehr süß und Kokoslastig. Für mich eher kein Mixer. Insgesamt nach der zweiten Verkostung ein wenig eindimensional Alles in allem ein solider Foursquare, auch hier merkt man das Richard einfach sein hohes Niveau hält. Gute Fass Wahl WuDramClan. Der einzige Kritikpunkt ist, dass er leider durch die Bourbon Finishes nicht heraus sticht aus dem soliden vielfältigen Foursquare Universum, was aber nicht heißt das er langweilig ist.

Most helpful mixed review
Complex and intense on the nose with slight glue notes. On the palate typical FS, but here too ester notes with wet wood appear. Little sweetness and because of the wood, it reminds of lightly smoked whiskeys, certainly worth a sample for lovers. The finish is long and very cask-driven. For me, however, because of the rather one-dimensional direction of the dominant wood notes, not quite my style (like most FS).

#5667 14.09.2025 Tasting in Copenhagen with good friends. Nose Round, balanced, light acetone, fruity, light caramel, light nutmeg, light coconut, faint glue. Palate Oily, warm, round, fresh, fruity, banana, faint acetone, light coconut, light chocolate, nutmeg, wood, light roasted. Finish Long and warm, wood, light roasted, oily, light pineapple, light caramel.

Tasting date 08.08.2026 at Mr. M Nørregaards residence, together with Mr. K Sørensen and Mr. P Chihan. RX24716 WDC Barbados. Nose: Coconut, light varnish / glue, nutty notes, light cinnamon, toasted wood. Mout: First hit, light balanced Foursquare, light buttery and oily consistency. Toasted wood and caramel. Some sweet dried apricots, light yellow fruit acid. Coconut and some waxe. Residual tast with roasted wood, dried fruits, coconut. Not identical yellow fruits. Light nutty. Smooth and easy going. The glass: Light sweet oak, light smoked. Tasting “At Mr. M Søndergaards residence”

8,5:On the nose, toasted wood with toffee, pastry, spicy with cinnamon, toasted coconut, dried apricots, peaches, so bourbon barrel impact is strong, polish and tobacco, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is vegetal with tea, slightly flowery and musty, dirty notes are out, some glue, roasted nuts, vanilla and citrus fruits. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is soft, balanced, inspite of high ABV, creamy with toasted wood notes like butterscotch, pastry, toffee, caramelized, spicy with cinnamon, vanilla, fruity with toasted coconut, yellow fruits, dried apricots and citrus fruits, medicinal with glue and polish. When the rum is well oxidized, cream and custard might be recognized. 8,6:The finish is long, dry, with roasted oak notes pairing yellow and dried fruits, coconut, banana and citrus fruits, earthy molasses, musty and polish. Received the sample from Zabo today and tasted immediately: Clear Forsquare nose with typical aromas: coconut, vanilla, toffee and pastry. Continues on the palate. Alcohol well integrated. Very solid without surprises.

Delicious solid Foursquare with all typical markers you expect from 2007. Alcohol could be integrated a bit better, but that’s probably due to continental aging. Tasty but no world novelty in terms of 2007 FS.

Verdict: Deep, complex, rounded, but also slightly spicy and woody. Wood, wax, tobacco and earth, cinnamon, orange and yellow fruit. 88 points Nose: a little glue, but mainly woody, spicy and a little fruity. Polished furniture, car wax wood, cinnamon, vanilla, stewed apricot, peach on syrup, tobacco leaf, earth, pine resin, oil. Palate: Rounded, spicy, vanilla and tobacco, stewed fruits, honey, syrup, polished oak, engine oil, orange juice, cinnamon. Lovely. Finish: long, rounded and returning, spicy, sweet, sour. Quite oaky, cinnamon buns, wax, furniture polish, oil, barrel, ginger, tobacco and yellow fruit.

Oh yes, I really like this one, a super Foursquare, nothing more to say. Alcohol noticeable but still well integrated. Otherwise a very good Foursquare, good coconut, but also vanilla and caramel.

Quick preliminary tasting with Mrs. and Mr. Zabo on the terrace. The nose already shouts from afar "I am a Foursquare!" Lots of coconut and bourbon on the nose and palate. Pleasantly sweet, with just the right amount of wood and well-integrated alcohol. Overall, though, somewhat one-dimensional.

First impression: Great nose with the usual FS markers of coconut, vanilla, some wood and spices. Also good to drink undiluted on the palate and very tasty. Even more drinkable with some water. A nice bottling! I believe pure maturation in bourbon casks suits Foursquare best. At the same time, this WDC doesn't quite reach Nobiliary and Isonomy for me, at a higher price.

#1782 09-05-2026 - Rate 8.9 6th rum at birthday tasting This one took some a bit by surprise. And I can understand why. Have tried a few times that old Foursquare have some similarities with old New Yarmouth. Most guessed Jamaica.

Wu Dram does not disappoint. Very nice Barbados rum that almost screams "Foursquare". Vanilla, coconut and caramel, plus a certain alcoholic spiciness that is somehow also part of the Foursquare profile.

Fits, solid Foursquare, with the boozy markers, here the bourbon finish stands out, giving it a bit more edge and edge. ABV could be a tad better integrated, but doesn't detract from it. I like the finish and the cask. A not-so-typical round Foursquare, despite the coconut note and the tannins.

A good rum, on the nose it's fully round with dried fruits, coconut, vanilla, woody and sweet but only on the nose. On the palate it's very strong, hardly sweet but enough woody, coconut, glue-solvent, I don't know if I'm having a weird day but I find it sharp, alcohol is noticeable, sharp edges maybe it needs more time in the glass. The finish is nicely warm and long with coconut. Anyway, it's a nice rum.

A nice old aged Foursquare. I actually prefer the Bourbon Foursquare releases because the two worlds just fundamentally fit well together. Here there is already a strong cask influence. But I like it. Overall, I'm not the biggest fan of the coconut, vanilla profile. So mixed a lot with cola. That works very well too. So fully satisfied.

Absolutely typical Foursquare, lots of coconut and vanilla, wood, you can also tell it was aged in bourbon, sweet pastry, I smell dried apricots in the nose. A delicate rum that I wouldn't hesitate to offer even to slightly advanced rum drinkers. A pleasant surprise.
