After the first sip straight from the freshly opened bottle, I was a bit disappointed. For me, it had a flaw note. After longer breathing time, it developed positively and got a nice creaminess. But I'll do a cross-tasting again and then classify it more precisely.

Tasted from a sample Nose: Seems oddly muted for a <>H, much more savory and dare I say whisky-adjacent than I was expecting. It's dry, lacking some of the sweet Hampden funk. Instead, I get more orange pith, grapefruit, prune and rancio, a touch of acetone. A real oloroso -finished whisky vibe to this, is it a sherry cask or whisky finish? Soaked prunes, a touch of underripe pineapple, Christmas cake and creamy vanilla (icing?) , some pencil shavings, green /wet wood Taste: Fairly oily and dry. Some bitter cacao, boozy orange, wood shavings and barrel influence, some wet wood, a bit of struck match. Quite savoury, a touch saline and iodised, a touch of menthol/eucalyptus and mild industrial notes, with some malted biscuit and a popcorn thing going on. Really quite a lot of sherry rancio and whisky, was this in a sherried whisky cask? Can't get away from the whisky-like note in the profile. Finish: quite drying and quite tannic. The Christmassy nuts and dried fruit/peel make a reappearance like the ingredients for for mincemeat mix. The heat makes itself known. Stays super dry. Dry, dusty wood and grafruif make another appearance. Medium length. Overall much drier than anticipated, with quite a lot of sherry influence. Not my favourite Hampden by long shot and decidedly less successful than Pagos 3. Feels whisky-adjacent, almost with a touch of peat smoke. Like it needs some more sweetness to balance the dry fruit and rancio/ whisky vibes and convince me it's a rum

8,9:On the nose, esters, glue, nail polish, funky, intense, fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red fruits, vegetal molasses with briny olive, fresh, dairy notes, roasted wood with caramelized burnt sugar, cream toffee, spicy, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits arise, smokiness and metallic patina, some rubber, slight pungency, the molasses is fresh with tea, grassy with hay and earthy with tobacco, the wood is tannic, nutty, roasted with hints of coffee, spicy with allspice. 9,1:On the palate, the attack is fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, medicinal with esters, wax, rubber, sweet with molasses honey, flowery, vegetal with briny olive, as the wood is roasted with caramelized burnt sugar, perhaps crème brûlée, pastry, oily, spicy with allspice.When the rum is well rested, various fruits join like citrus, dried, red with cherry. 8,9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, creamy, oily with roasted wood notes like, chocolate, coffee, caramel, nuts, smoky, spicy, fermented tropical, red fruits, hints of berries, as the molasses is fresh, herbaceous, dark with black tea, earthy with cigar tobacco, sweet with honeycomb.
