Aquavitae Mülheim October 2025. And a really good Uitvlugt, even though I don't usually like them that much. But for 10 bucks, I'll treat myself to the Bat Crypt :) You really can't complain, and this should be enough for the 200 characters :)

Guyana leans heavily on the sweet side without leaving much of an impression. Decent rum, but for its age, I expected a bit more. It ends up somewhat simple without surprises. However, it's good as an easy sipper, if you can say that about a Guyana rum.

8,6:On the nose, slightly roasted wood, nutty with almonds, caramel, spicy with vanilla and anise, fresh molasses, vegetal with olive, fennel, herbaceous, some pencil shavings, sweet with honey, banana, bergamot and green fruits, perhaps candied, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits and pineapple are out, marzipan and cocoa, tge molasses is flowery, slightly dark with licorice. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is fresh with herbaceous, vegetal (thyme) molasses, some pencil shavings, darker with licorice, sweet with honey, the wood is a bit roasted with nuts, caramel, spicy with vanilla, anise, salty, as the fruits are citrus with bergamot, tropical with banana and pineapple, green, yellow with apricot.On oxidation, the molasses becomes candied, fresh with tea and fennel comes out, some iodine. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry, as slightly roasted wood notes, spicy, pair fresh molasses, mango and apple..

Single Cask Nation flies a bit under the radar, but for example with the 2003 TDL they’ve already released some really strong bottlings. So I’m pretty excited about this one too. First impression on the nose: typical PM markers like olive, fennel, anise, apple, candied fruits. On the palate it’s spicy-herbal, and the finish is somehow almost fruity. I like it quite a bit (easy drinking), even if it doesn’t quite reach the top tier.

A bottling I once randomly discovered at Whisky Maniac and that meant nothing to me. Got a sample thanks to Boletus. The typical PM markers are recognizable, but overall I would classify this as an easy sipper; it lacks a bit of depth for me.

#7153 13.08.2026 Relaxing with some samples after a slow day at work and both walk and bike training today. Listening to some nice Psy Trance on Spotify. Pretty good Uitvlugt. Medium intense rum with roasted wood, caramel, chocolate, fruits, spice, leather and a dry palate.

The 24-year aging has smoothed out all the edges and corners here, resulting in a round and pleasant rum. The Port Mourant character is clearly recognizable, but after a longer stay in the mouth, a rather atypical, subtle whisky nuance has developed. No peat smoke at all, but a malty apple note that I would usually associate more with a Speyside malt. Could have a bit more expression, but otherwise a really fine drop!
