Oliver & Oliver Presidente Marti 15 Años
Chocolate, caramel and vanilla lead, with a woody, spicy backbone that keeps the sweetness in check. One taster picked up loads of candied orange, "almost like Cointreau," alongside toffee and raisin. Most find it soft and easy with little bite, though a few call it a touch too woody. A classic sweetened Dominican solera style — pleasant, but simple.

How does Oliver & Oliver Presidente Marti 15 Años taste?
Aggregated from 63 community reviews.
Sweet, soft chocolate-caramel Dominican sipper Most find it a sweet, mild, chocolate-and-caramel sipper that's easy to like. The catch: it's clearly sweetened, a bit woody, and short on complexity for longer neat drinking.

A typical Dominican nose unfortunately only with standard 40% ABV. I liked 19 year old solera little more, but this is still a great experience for beginners. The finish was short with lack of complexity. In general, it’s not bad for the price.

A lot of orange peel and candied orange, almost like Cointreau. Syrup, toffee, raisin, pear, apple and spice.

The smell is spicy and sweet. Chocolate and sugary sweet in the mouth. Definitely a nice entry-level rum.

6:On the nose, the first impression we get are aromas of caramel and vanilla. The rum is also buttery and mellow, like popcorn. Nuts and molasses offer darker notes for a welcome balance. As with the early popcorn, the sweetness returns in the form of a well-roasted fairground praline. The wood comes in at just the right moment to tighten things up and keep the sweetness from going too far, though a few hints of vanilla escape from its veins. The wood is slightly smoky and toasty, with a scent of tobacco. Aeration reveals a less tender, more powdery heart. Dried nuts and cocoa are intense, though contained by a certain sweetness. The wood becomes dustier, too, and a surprising industrial edge, with a hint of engine grease, emerges in the manner of a Trinidad rum. This new phase paves the way for a fruitier side, with quince and a not too ripe peach. Vanilla is still present, but lighter and less round. 5,7:On the palate, the attack on the palate is sweet, compensating for the dryness of the well-burnt nuts. The salty caramel makes you salivate, the better to melt the vanilla. The harsher, more industrial aspect is still present in the mid-palate, for a rum with two facets. At times sweet and thick, at other times dry and light, the alcohol integration is pretty bad. 5,4:On the finish, quite short one, the pepper takes a more classic direction on a rather sweet, alcoholic, caramelized rum....
