Bardinet Rhum Negrita Negrita «Old Nick» Rum bottled 1950s
Sip this old Bardinet bottling neat and slow — it's a tasting curiosity more than an everyday pour. Expect chocolate and cocoa, dried fruit, prune and red fruit, baking spice, and that old-bottle leather-and-workshop-oil character. Despite the 60% ABV it drinks light and soft on the palate, with a short finish. Opinions swing hard: some find it deeply complex, others too aromatic or oddly artificial.
- Chocolate and cocoa
- Dried fruit depth
- Soft despite ABV

Mmh that's not my cup of tea at all. Tastes very strangely artificial with an incredible amount of spices .... Smells like baking and green cake paired with a manginess that I can't stand 😅😅. No no, that's not something I want to drink. Sorry Still, great to be able to try it... if I pull off Räudig and not mine, it's solid 🤝🏻

Verdict: dispite the lower ABV, this is a superblij complex rum. It has lots of dark, roasted, fruity and sweet notes, quite some oil, leather, and spice. 88 points, due to the lower ABV, otherwise it had been 90+. Nose: nicely rounded, oily, but also rather powerful. Old leather books, a mechanic workshop, dark red fruit, prune, copper coins, polished wood, roasted, baking spice. Then molasses, tobacco and dried fruit. Palate: superb. It's not big, but refined and greatly complex. Again very oily, a bit of workshop oil, grease, wax. Then very woody, roasted, tobacco, molasses and dark sugar. There is quite some dried fruit and a combination of orange zest and blood orange. Finish: a delicious continuation of the palate.

Old fashioned on nose, old plumbs, cherry, figs, all rather rustical on palate, too aromatic for me
