# 23.10.2025 A nice relaxing day with Fabian in a summehouse in Blåvand 🇩🇰 The nose is absolutely gorgeous and well balanced despite the ABV. Nice eucalyptus, light wood, faint pear, light dried fruit, faint floral, ligt tar. On the palate it's very well balanced with lots of natural sweetness. Fruity with nice caramel,light wood and some faint mint. Medium long and sweet with nice light cherry ad raisin,very faint tar.

Welch eine positive Überraschung und wenn ich das PLV zusätzlich dabei sehe eine echte Empfehlung für jeden Navy-Liebhaber 👍🏻 In der Nase überwiegen klar und deutlich die TDL-Marker, wobei auch leichte Hampden- und Caroni-Aromen erkennbar sind. Am Gaumen eine schöne Komplexität aus dunklen Beeren, Frische, gebranntes Karamell, Fass, Würze, Mokka und leichtem Teeraroma. Zum Schluss überwiegen dann die schweren dunklen Aromen die sich auch im Abgang halten 😋. So muss ein Navy sein

Nose: very relaxed and still lots to discover! I recognize Jamaica at first, darker notes are also there but I can't place them. Palate: very complex and balanced! I find freshness like in a Grays but also dirt. New associations keep coming up. Finish: no trace of bitterness, more freshness, herbs. I'm overwhelmed by making notes on this rum. My recommendation: just enjoy it!

Now this is some very nice Navy richness on the nose. TDL is in the driver seat with berry notes. Caroni workshop notes are also quite noticeable and provide additional depth. DDL and Hampden add additional complexity on the nose. Very nice blend! Same picture on the palate, very well executed and balanced. Not dominated by DDL, yet on the darker and noticably complexed side of Navy blends. Very well done.

On enchaîne le comparatif de Navy Rum. 👃 Dominance du profil TDL (baies noires, eucalyptus), le Caroni juste derrière (goudron chaud, huiles essentielles, fleurs d'arbres fruitiers), le Guyana un peu en retrait (chocolat noir, sève, caramel sur la bruyère, fruits secs). Le Hampden doit être un low ester et/ou en petite quantité. Celui-ci apporte tout un ensemble de fruits du verger (on est loin du classique combo ananas/banane surmûris) tel que la poire, la pomme verte, l'abricot sec. L'assemblage de tous ces styles développent même des arômes d'orge maltée. Un nez complexe, étagé, sur un versant fruité. 😋 Davantage marquée par le bois et le style Demerara. Fût de chêne grillé, épices (piment, poivre, épices de cuisine), caramel de sucs de fruits, chocolat noir. Je retrouve les fruits, plutôt secs comme ceux des cakes de Noël, baies noires, traces de goyave et de papaye confite. Note de goudron chaud, diesel léger, sève. Une fin de bouche sur du thé noir et des feuilles de menthe séchées. Une bouche équilibrée, huileuse, plus sombre qu'au nez, mais sans être écrasante de bois. Alcool très bien intégré qui booste à la perfection les différentes saveurs. ⛳ Longue, chaude, boisée, pimentée, sèche, amère, fraîche et tannique. Note de cerise, de menthe séchée, sensation herbacée. 🏆 Respect de l'équilibre des origines de l'assemblage (bien que la Jamaïque soit en retrait je trouve), un ensemble équilibré, évolutif, complexe. Un excellent représentant du style Navy Rum, qui plus est à un prix défiant toute concurrence (115€ les 50cl). Je suis déçu de ne pas l'avoir commandé à temps. 📝 Classement en cours ; Velier Royal Navy (92) > SotD Navy Rum (90) > Swell Funky Navy (89) > Velier Tiger Shark (86+).

die Navy Rums schießen ja gerade wie Pilze aus dem Boden, da muss sich der SOTD einiger Konkurrenz erwehren…erster Eindruck an der Nase: eher von der fruchtigen Sorte, ich würde auf einen 2005er oder 2009er TDL tippen. Danach kommt das Diamond Profil. Hampen ist nicht super intensiv, eher so Medium Range Ester. Den Caroni Anteil kann ich nur mit viel gutem Willen erkennen. Der Gaumen ist sehr rund und würzig, angenehm süffig mit ordentlich langem Abgang. Die Bewertung fällt mir schwer, weil er echt nicht schlecht gemacht ist. Aber wenn ich dann zB mit dem Tiger Shark vergleiche, der intensiver und auch noch günstiger ist auf die 70cl umgerechnet, relativiert sich alles etwas.

This bottling is amazing, great value for money! Tasted on the beach in Denmark, where it feels a little closer to the tradition of Navy rum. Dark, intense aromas gather in the nose, clearly TDL character with herbal influences, light coolness and dark fruits. The 57% ABV is really well integrated on the palate and perfectly accompanies the rum's almost Christmassy character traits. Star anise, a little clove and barrel influences, plus rubber and leather, a little tobacco at the back - a beautiful blend that has been put together correctly!

Belle complexité avec ce Navy. Le premier marqueur que je ressens est le TDL, avec des notes mentholées, et un peu de goudron. Puis viennent les 2 autres composants de ce superbe jus avec les fruits bien murs, le rôti, le boisé, un peu de cerise, du chocolat et du piment. Belle intégration de l’alcool, et bonne longueur en bouche Je valide complètement ❤️❤️

J'ai pu me procurer un sample avant une bouteille et je ne regrette pas mon achat. Hâte de lui donner plus de temps car il est complexe à souhait et me semble très évolutif. Le nez est particulièrement agréable. Superbe navy

So, nachdem mich der Navy Blend von Ricci nicht abgeholt hat, er war mir zu ausbalanciert, heute mal den SOTD Navy Blend im Glas. Er braucht seine Zeit, aber dann macht er seine Sache sehr gut. An der Nase. Überwiegt für mich eindeutig TDL, sehr fruchtig, eine karamellige Süße und sehr frisch. Aber auch leichte Klebstoffnoten von Hampden sind wahrnehmbar, subtil, aber sie sind da. Am Gaumen dann eine Komplexität,.die ich ehrlicherweise nicht erwartet hatte. Tolle schwere Aromen, wobei für mich das Malz überwiegt. Rote Beeren verfeinern den Geschmack im Hintergrund. Auch am Gaumen eine angenehme Frische. Im Anhang, der angenehm lang ist, überwiegen Fass Aromen und Tannine. Eine weitere überzeugende Abfüllung von SOTD, nur der schlechte Füllstand der Flaschen (bei 3 Stück haben jeweils 2cl gefehlt) trüben etwas die Freude. Natürlich kein Royal Navy, der bleibt die Referenz, aber ein toller Navy Blend, der genau die kleinen Ecken und Kanten hat, die mir beim Ricci gefehlt haben.

Un navy rum complexe et équilibré qui penche plus vers les arômes TDL que caroni. Et me concernant tant mieux ! Comme d'habitude avec spirit of the day à prix dérisoire vs la concurrence ce qui en fait un des meilleurs rapport Q/P de sa catégorie. On en redemande !!!

Köln/Bonner-Rum-Treff: nach gefühlt 100 Cognac und Armagnac der erste Rum. Endlich Mal wieder ein ordentlicher Navyblend bei dem man sämtliche Marks herausschmeckt. Finde den Alkohol etwas zu intensiv

Très bon bel équilibre et frais. Belle complexité au départ puis prédominance du TDL en fin de bouche pour ne plus sentir que ça pour ma part.
