#6012 29.11.2025 Rum tasting at Whisky Watcher in Odense. This is a prettynsurprising rum actually A blend of two rums from relatively rare rum countries. First I thought it was a Renegade but over tile it changed into Clairin notes. Very well balanced rum at a very good price tag.

The nose opens with fairly light esters, bringing quite lactic fermented fragrances. You also find pineapple, green banana, lemon. There are hints of gum (the blue side of Mapa gums), marzipan. It's quite indulgent despite an underlying grassy and floral register, but also medicinal. Very curious and intriguing on the nose anyway. The palate is quite disappointing. The medicinal side takes over a lot, with smoky accents as well. A bit of vanilla, overripe fruits (strawberry). It's quite fresh and light, but nothing lingers very long on the palate. Its 55.8° is surprisingly very discreet on the tongue. The finish goes by like a TGV (high-speed train).

8,5:On the nose, ripe, fermented vegetal notes, especially tomatoes on esters, funky, grassy and flowery sugarcane, roasted wood notes, spicy, smoky and citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, confectionery arises, now also fermented tropical fruits with banana, some cheese. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is sweet, funky with sugarcane honey, as the cane is earthy, grassy flowery, the fruits and vegetal notes are fermented, especially tropical fruits, the wood is roasted, spicy and smoky. 8,3:The finish is long, dry, woody, medicinal with esters, the sugarcane is vegetal, grassy, flowery, the fruits tropical, overripe..

And on we go with watching the Tour de France. Hopefully a more exciting stage today than yesterday, as far as the favorites are concerned. Really not bad, who would have thought. This rum is very funky, but also vegetal/fruity/sweet (cane sugar).

A very successful blend for a very gentle price! It starts with an exuberant, complex nose, mixing esterified funk, fruit, caramel cream, and herbs. The palate remains just as balanced. A little bomb contained by indulgence. A must-have!

Crazy value for money! A daring mix that I find very successful! Agricultural nose! On banana and vanilla bean. On the palate, we find the same agricultural rum character, but with more roundness and fruit! The little kick of alcohol is pleasant! Rather short finish

Great piece for a small price, I'm pleasantly surprised! Very unique. Clear agricole notes recognizable, grassy paired with a lot of funk. Alcohol super integrated. A certain sweetness on the palate and a surprising amount of body for its young age. Really great!

A blend that strongly reminds me of Clairin. The mix of cane, esters, fruits, wood, a bit of earthiness and vegetal notes tastes really good. At 40€, it's obviously a great value and a no-brainer.

At first, this blend of unaged, ester-rich sugarcane distillate from Liberia and caramel-silky, aged rum from Thailand is a bit wild and chaotic in the glass, but after about 15 minutes of standing time, the rum harmonizes and reveals an unusual and delicious profile that never gets boring.

Maybe a bit too sweet on the palate but overall just a great bottling. And at an excellent price-performance ratio. No idea which distilleries are the origin here but Liberia and Thailand should be on the radar. Nice blend.

Very nice surprise This juice is excellent, a bold blend. Nice roundness, and a lot of pleasure on the palate... After 15 minutes of aeration, you discover all the potential. And the quality-price-pleasure ratio is impressive.

Unlikely combination for a super interesting result given the price. A very vegetal side, fresh cane immediately followed by the light woody and fruity notes of an aged rum. It's fresh, it hits, it surprises a bit, but you want more 😋

Degustation masterclass (notes a confirmer) Au nez des herbes, de la canne, de la vanille et un côté legerement vinaigré. La bouche est tres sympa, le thai est bien plus présent. Il faudra que je regoute. Dans tous les cas, super interessant pour le tarif.

An excellent value for money this time. It doesn't really move me as a rum, it's some little esters, butter and especially excessive sugar, obviously banana. Simple, heavy, effective. A little smoky note in addition that intrigues.

Nose immediately very red fruit yogurt strawberry/raspberry. But neither rancid nor sour, which unfortunately often accompanies this kind of nose. Not here, very good. Nose clearly with a little mhoba side even though there technically isn't any in it. A palate where the woodiness is more noticeable, almost a bit too much for me. Original blend and at a great price but a profile that tends to bore me a bit.

Very interesting blend. A no brainer to buy. Vegetal agricole nose. But the palate is completely different. Very smoky with a pleasant fruity sweetness. Abv perfectly integrated. A rather short finish. Great bottle!

This is one of those rums were the nose does not necessarily match the taste. The nose is a combination of two main notes: grassy (I assume from the unaged Liberian rum) and vanilla (I assume from the aged Thai rum). The taste is very surprising though. We get a lot of smoke to a point that reminds of barbecue meat with a sweet sauce. All and all a very interesting and successful experiment of a blend that can be sipped and might work well in a cocktail too.

A beautiful rum, really good profile, a wet complex nose, ripe fruits, pear with lemongrass, a bit of vinegar and sweetness, cheese or yogurt. On the palate, smoky wood comes through but still very fruity and yogurt flavor, a bit of nutmeg. The finish is not very long but nicely intense, woody, earthy and fruity. Lots of ripe fruits to my taste.

17/10/2025: tasting @ home with Stijn and Bram. This is a weird but very interesting experience. It contains mostly unaged juice and this makes it pretty funky, vegetal and unique. Although it's only 50cl, you get a lot for your money.

Thailand is bit familiar to me, but never heard of Liberia rum before so I don't know what it brings to the table here. Very young, unaged, funky, agricole-y, green, vegetal nose - also nice bannana notes stand out. Palate is bit different, the funky, vegetal notes are there, but more mature, sweeter, fruitier notes come forth. I expected it to be meh, but this works really well.
