Strong 94 New Yarmouth. Mature, but — unlike many late releases of the vintage — not overly woody and with a great balance of caramel, coconut, vanilla, wood, dried fruit, a hint of mint/menthol, and spices. Also a great sweetness. NY 94 is never bad, but this one is delicious even by comparison.

#5643 30.08.2025 Tasted at the Germen Rum Fest 2025. Was lucky this bottle flew by and a sample went into my glass 😊 A nicely balanced NY with fruit and light ester notes. Wood and ABV are near perfectly integrated. There is a light floral and caramel touch to the profile.

German Rum Festival 2025. A pleasantly sweet woody nose, with stewed fruit. You can tell this rum has spent a lot of time in casks. Freshness too, with a slight menthol note. Very full-bodied, immediately reminiscent of one of the best New Yarmouth 94s, to be verified later. The aromas continue to build on the palate and fill the whole. The finish is very long, with lovely sweet acidity and a touch of bourbon. The pronounced wood only comes in at the end. A truly remarkable rum, thank you Skyfly.

Trade fair rating: new release from Distilia. One of the best 1994 NYs I've had in the glass so far. Brings all typical aromas. The bourbon finish turned out great and in no way disturbing.

An incredibly elegant and heavy, delicious old New Yarmouth. Intense bourbon and glue notes, cinnamon, dark roasted coconut chips, dark chocolate with sea salt, some mint and spicy ginger, vanilla and tonka bean, cookie dough and ripe tropical fruits. The 30y in the cask don't seem too much, but are really well integrated. Incredibly mild, delicious and well-balanced. Great stuff! Thanks to SkyFly for the opportunity!

Trade fair rating 14. GRF 2025: Definitely a lip-smacker, but maybe a tad too sweet for my taste. Definitely needs another thorough tasting, preferably in a nice flight with a few other NY94 heavyweights. But he's already in the right weight class, I trust this assessment after the generous short tasting at the Station Berlin courtyard - many thanks, Skyfly!

Excellent representative of the 1994 New Yarmouth - once again an outstanding cask selection from Distilia. Heavy sweetness of caramel, vanilla, sharp accents from the oak wood show the advanced aging without tipping into bitterness. Also fresh tropical fruits with a nice residual sweetness and subtle spicy notes. This is impressively full-bodied and complex and a lot of fun on the palate.

1994 New Yarmouth...I have almost exclusively positive memories of it... And the nose doesn't disappoint at first. The classic aroma profile with tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel, light ester and a little cinnamon is immediately convincing. On the palate, there is initially some sweet brown caramel, which then quickly gives way to wood, barrel, tannins, spices and a slight roastiness. Fruit is almost no longer perceptible. The same in the finish. For me, this bottling is past its zenith... the cask is too much in the foreground here

First of all, many thanks to Skyfly, who pulled the bottle out of the hat at the 14th GRF. I find this bottling sweeter than I remember the 94 New Yarmouth. Alcohol well integrated. First impression is top. Will do a direct comparison with a few others. Rating may still change.

On aeration, pineapple and mango arise, molasses is thick, candied, vegetal, roasted nuts, vanilla join, some rubber. 9:On the palate, the attack is fruity with coconut, mango, pineapple, dried apricots, raisins, later citrus fruits, the wood is toasted with caramel, cookie dough, nuts, spicy with vanilla, nutmeg, ginger, cinammon, bourbon barrel impact is strong, medicinal with glue, as molasses is earthy with tobacco, musty, later minty. 9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, oily with toasted oak notes like caramel, dark chocolate, nuts, spicy with cinnamon, medicinal, fruity with coconut, dried and citrus fruits, as molasses is earthy, later fresh, vegetal.

👃This first nose delivers all kinds of variations of caramel treats, brown sugar, nougatine, cooked vanilla bean, toasted coconut and toasted bread. The wood is toasted to the point of being slightly burnt. These aromas strongly remind me of a Foursquare but rounder, less sharp. This sweet roundness evolves towards candied fruit, between citrus (orange and yellow lemon) and caramelized pineapple, supported by kitchen spices. Aeration allows it to open on notes of jasmine, I find a slight varnish veil, dried mint and green tea leaf. These aromas distinguish this New Yarmouth from Foursquare. Traces of dried fruits (hazelnuts), milk chocolate and leather close the olfactory march. I am impressed by the integration of the ABV. I would never have guessed 65%, I would have bet on 50-55% max. One of the strengths of this selection. 😋 More liveliness and warmth on the palate although I am still surprised by the integration of the alcohol. Drier sensation than on the nose, unsurprisingly we find the combo of caramel, dried fruits, candied fruits (pineapple), rich vanilla, roasted nuts, toasted coconut, the burnt staves of the cask well present. At the end of the mouth, a bit of glue, dried mint and leather. The bourbon cask strongly marks this very old molasses rum in the best way. ⛳ Long, warm, with a strong impression of bourbon wood. Oily sensation, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, nuts, spicy dark chocolate, unexpected freshness of dehydrated mint. 🏆 An excellent nose, complex and balanced. A palate in the logical continuation of the nose, it just lacks a little something to take this selection one notch higher. The tasting game regularly made me think of Foursquare. The American oak expresses itself fully without ever spoiling the pleasure of tasting. Special mention for the stunning integration of the ABV (after about 1 hour in the glass). 90 pts 🙏 Thanks to Distilia for sending a package containing 4 samples. No commercial collaboration was requested. I remain independent in my tasting notes.

Ist er so gut wie der Excellence Rhum, einem meiner 94er NY-Referenzen? Massiv stark, muss lange atmen. Wunderbare Lack- und Lösemittel-Dämpfe entsteigen dem Glas. Die Bourbon-Lagerung passt super. Einen Hauch voller und wärmer als der Excellence Rhum, aber insgesamt sehr ähnlich. Tolle Holzreife. Warm und tief. Eine Traumnase! Gleichauf mit dem Excellence Rhum. Mit etwas Wasser wird er chremiger und Minze kommt zum Vorschein. Im Mund holzig, würzig, kräftig. Ein winziger Schluck genügt, die Papillen zum Tanzen zu bringen. Eine Spur süßer als der Mitstreiter. Er geht dann sehr schön wärmend in einen langen, warmen Abgang über. Insgesamt ein Hammer-Rum. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲Gehört mit dem Rom Deluxe, Swell, Excellence Rhum und RA zu den Top-Abfüllungen.

Distilia New Yarmouth Ex Bourbon. This Jamaican rum was distilled in 1994 and aged 13 years in tropical climate, then 17 years in continental climate in a bourbon cask finish. The most disturbing tasting of the lot as this 65.9% rum gives no strong alcohol sensation but is especially similar to a Foursquare. The nose, totally on Barbados markers, brings us gourmand vanilla, spicy caramel, and toasted coconut. A background of exotic fruits and pastry notes recalls fruitcake. We find cinnamon and oak. I love it! On the palate, surprising softness. It's unthinkable that this rum exceeds 55°, yet... Again, totally Foursquare, with ultra-present coconut after a sharp attack of complex spices. The rum is fruity and spicy, but above all gourmand like vanilla cake batter you lick from the bowl. A bit of eucalyptus appears at the end with refined woodiness. It's round, probably thanks to the bourbon finish. The finish is long without excess, prolonging the pleasure of this coconut and these spices in pastry gourmandise.

Very barrel-heavy aromas, which is no wonder given its age. Nevertheless, not too barrel-heavy, but excellently balanced. In direct comparison to RX 22650, this is clearly better, as it offers even more.

A splendid New Yarmouth in every way. The nose offers beautiful fragrances between biscuit dough, tropical fruits (pineapple, coconut), citrus, and dried fruits. The nose is well-structured with chocolate, toffee, spices (chili, pepper), and bourbon barrel vanilla. You can also detect glue, esters, and menthol. A homogeneous, complex, and seductive nose. The profile doesn't mess around on the palate. The attack is very powerful with that tannic, dry side, well-honed by aging in ex-bourbon oak barrels. On the palate, you find this roasted, nutty, and spicy archetype supported by the glue, then a bit of sweetness (caramel, toffee) and fruits (dried, coconut). The menthol, subtle, brings a real plus by refreshing the palate against the darker and more indulgent aromas of the profile. The aromatic balance is impressive. While the attack heats up at first, the alcohol remains well integrated. There is a long dry finish, albeit a bit oily, on bourbon, caramel, then coconut and raisins. The finish asserts itself with spices, oak and its tannins, glue, roasted nuts, and dark chocolate. The menthol still blows in retro-olfaction for our greatest pleasure. An excellent finish, with controlled aging and alcohol, and above all enchanting aromas that stand out from other bottlings.

Powerful and mature New Yarmouth with enormous depth. Warm vanilla, caramel, overripe fruit and a hint of glue on the nose, complemented by a clear wood influence. Dense and concentrated on the palate with sweet tropical fruit, spice and a distinctive but harmonious tannin structure from the long barrel contact. The alcohol is powerful, but carries the profile cleanly. Overall, an intense, multi-layered NY with impressive maturity and a clear personality.

Very tasty! Super coherent New Yarmouth. I like it a lot. Complex flavors, powerful, intense but also balanced. Very full-bodied, good umami. Lots of warmth. To me, it’s quite close to the RA from memory. I'd say the age is a bit more present. Great bottling.

New Yarmouth, which I didn't perceive as very complex and intense from the smell. But then, on the palate, it clearly shows wood and bourbon finish, but very well integrated and not too dominant despite the long aging. Alcohol is very well integrated, dry fruit, long finish. Extremely complex, an absolute highlight.

Totally over the top, but in a good way! Only for extremists with a love for wood. Not a high ester profile like a DOK, but very complex and offers a battle with the wood notes. The wood dominates a bit too much though and creates a dominant note that can be had for less money.

For me, this Rome represents the quintessence of the New Yarmouths. What richness, what complexity, so many aromas in a glass. I let it breathe for 40 minutes before tasting it. Already on the nose you can feel the benefit of the air. It's magnificent. A great work of art. On the palate, it's an explosion!!! And an endless length... This juice is for me above the other NY 94’ I've tasted. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It sits dark in the glass. Intense nose. It really kicks off on the palate. Fruity, with a noticeable influence of wood, but nicely balanced. Slightly adhesive, but not too much. A bit of spice. Everything very harmonious. Alcohol very well integrated. A bit like the usual Foursquare profile, but taken to the next level. Really a very awesome 1994 New Yarmouth. This one goes on the wish list.

Tasted at GRF 2025 and this NY1994 pleased me very much. Very full and warm with the typical markers but also a certain freshness and the cask worked well. Great bottling, even if the profile overall repeats itself a bit too much.

Ausgewogen, schwer und doch wirkt er auf eine Art auch wunderbar frisch und ausgewogen. Gefällt mir sehr gut, das Bourbonfinish schmeckt man, aber sehr gut integriert nicht zu mächtig, genauso wie der ABV, sehr gut eingebunden. Ansonsten alles was man von einem 94er NY. erwartet, bringt er mit, nur mit ein paar kleinen Upgrades, das Bourbonfinish und trotz der Schwere und Tiefe, bringt er eine schöne lebendige Frische mit. Für mich spielt er da bei den ganzen 94er Abfüllungen ganz vorne mit.

Yet another NY94, and once again a success. A distinctive fruity flavour backed by typical coconut. Bourbon and caramel flavours stand out in the body. The alcohol is very well integrated, there is a sense of strength and no harshness. A very good bottling!

Good and impressive but almost not in a good way! Indeed, I thought it was a Barbados rum because it's so smooth. I compared it to the NY 2005 20 years and nothing alike, I find the markers very far apart, almost none actually. No funk, no complexity. Good but I wouldn't buy a bottle.

The wow effect! The balance is perfect. It's indulgent, the mouthfeel is creamy and captivating. A very nice introduction to the world of NY 94. Alcohol very well integrated. I love it!

A good 1994 NY bottling, though perhaps not my absolute favorite. It is slightly more medicinal and herbaceous than some of the others I've tried, with notes like dill and mint sneaking into the more typical profile of sweet bourbon, caramel, and coconut.
