Sherry-cask whisky drinkers and Savanna fans who enjoy dry, high‑ABV rums with loads of charred oak, sulphur, gunpowder and dark dried fruits like prunes, raisins and dates.
Beginners, those sensitive to 60% ABV, or drinkers who dislike sulphuric, burnt or very woody sherry profiles and prefer clean, fruity or lighter Savanna expressions.

Savanna-Online-Tasting WLP 26.09.2025 - 87 Punkte Update 2025-09-28: Da ich mehrfach auf meine Bewertung angesprochen wurde, habe ich diesen Rum nochmals verkostet. Ein super Spalter-Rum! 😂 Ich wusste bisher nicht, dass ich verbrannte Zündplätzchen nicht nur olfaktorisch, sondern auch geschmacklich mag, aber so ist es. Für mich ist dies ein sehr erwachsener, leicht verrückter Rum, der mit etwas zu enormer Kraft daherkommt (für eine Verkostung mit einem Tropfen Wasser hat die Probe leider nicht mehr gereicht). Wenn andere ihn nicht mögen, gut für mich, dann wird es kein Problem, eine ganze Flasche zu ergattern. Bewertung bleibt bestehen. 😉

Savanna-Tasting-RumX 26.09.25: Diese Wild Island Edition ist so gar nicht meins. Die 19 Jahre Sherryfass haben ihre Wirkung hinterlassen..aber nicht im positiven Sinne. In der Nase überwiegt alter dunkler schwerer Sherry. Am Gaumen anfangs noch gebranntes Karamell und leichte Röstigkeit. Dann entwickelt sich ein Aroma von altem modrigen pilzlastigen Waldboden mit leichtem Schwefel…dieses bleibt auch im Abgang dominierend…muss man mögen. Ich jedoch nicht

Savanna Masterclass. Da gehe ich mit, ein wirklich guter Rum. Klar ist das Sherry Cask Finish erkennbar, aber wirklich gut eingebunden. Ansonsten ist noch etwas Holz erkennbar. Ein echter Top Rum meiner Meinung nach.

Mmh I'm not really warming to this Savanna. The nose is almost musty Musty fermented ... Red fruits and sweetness . On the palate it tastes like an old port wine, lots of sweet plum and many bitter substances. Unfortunately not my cup of tea at all. Would never have guessed this rum blind as Savanna. Conclusion: Too bad about the original rum

Very heavy influence from the cask. Sherry is very dominant in the overall profile. There is also lots of wood and burnt notes taking the Savanna profile somewhat hostage. Finish lingers with very long with lots of wood and bitterness.

Holz, geröstete Nüsse, vergorene Früchte, pflanzliche Noten und Schwefel an der Nase, am Gaumen kommt noch schwere Süsse von Schokolade und getrockneten Früchten dazu. Die Schwefelnote ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber insgesamt ist das Profil keineswegs unausgewogen. Das Savanna-Spektrum beweist einmal mehr seine eindrückliche Vielseitigkeit.

Durch das Sherryfass wird der Rum nahezu erschlagen, nur ganz selten schimmert der Grundcharakter durch. Das könnte bei mir durchaus auch funktionieren, leider zeigt sich jedoch beim Fass eine leichte Schwefelverunreinigung, welche mir den Spaß doch merklich einbremst. Schade! Savanna-Tasting am 26.09.2025 – Es wurden acht Samples verkostet und fachkundig erklärt. Der Savanna-Hype ist irgendwie mal wieder an mir vorbeigegangen, aber es war ein wirklich großartiges Event. Vielen Dank an RumX und das Savanna-Team – gerne mehr davon! Die Savannas sind wahre Könner und Handwerker. Komplex, 60 % Vol., die am Gaumen schmeicheln. Die Arbeit mit verschiedenen Stilrichtungen wie Creole, Traditionell und HERR führt zu einer Vielfalt, wie sie nur wenige Brennereien bieten. Alles top-notch! Drittes Sample der Wild Island. Traditionelle, das Sherry Finish dominiert. Toller Rum, gut trinkbar, für mich (mit estrigen Rum kann ich wenig anfangen) der Beste des Abends.

26.09.2025 Savanna tasting from Paris while attending the Whisky Live 2025. Nose Fresh, wood, light roasted, light cherry, light chocolate, spice, faint rubber, light anise. Palate Oily, fresh, fruity, medium spicy, wood, light earthy, faint coffee, light nutts, citrus, light cherry. Finish Long and warm, fresh, oily, wood, light anise, dried fruit, light floral.

Savanna x RumX 2025. Savanna Navy style? a little, but rounder. Sherry, gunpowder? Savanna The Wild Island Edition - Night 2008 is an UFO vria in the range, I think. An intense, caramelized, roasted eau-de-vie, with accents of port (normal), pecans and chocolate. Very intense, but rather accessible thanks to 10+ years in sherry casks.

This bottling was rather a disappointment for me among all the other Savannas that evening. The sherry/red wine is too dominant in this bottling for me. It also has a burnt/charred taste that I didn't like at all.

Ich hatte sehr hohe Erwartungen aber diese sind nicht wirklich erfüllt worden. Warum packt man einen 2008er Grand Arome für über 10y ins Sherry Fass? Der Grand Arome macht nur noch 20% des Aromenspiels aus, der Sherry Einfluss ist dementsprechend extrem dominant mit viel nussigen, rauchigen Aromen, dazu Kakao, Meersalz und ordentlich Schwefel, sowie Schwarzpulver. Erinnert fast schon an eine Zigarre im Abgang. Trifft leider absolut gar nicht meinen Geschmack. Der sherry ist einfach zu dominant und bügelt den Grand Arome gnadenlos nieder und dazu diese Schwarzpulver Note die ich einfach nicht mag hier. Das ist nicht das was ich von einem grand Arome erwarte...

Verkostung in der Savanna masterclass 2025. An der Nase klar Schießpulver und auch der sglherry Einfluss. Am Gaumen durchaus eine gewisse schärfe allerdings auch ein tiefes Aroma. Gefällt mir sehr gut.
