Incredibly beautiful, inviting nose of rose petals, caramelized pink grapefruit and a little mint. On the palate, cocoa, coffee, allspice, vanilla and a little cherry are joined by pink grapefruit, sea salt flakes and mocha. The mint and a subtle woodiness return on the finish. The 47% is perfectly chosen. Not too thin, not too strong. Great bottling, very complex and balanced! Could also pass blind as a hybrid of TDL and Foursquare. Thank you Gunnar!

It is rare, far too rare, to discover a diamond among pebbles. And if it happens by chance, it's all the more incredible. But it actually happened with this rum! I'm still blown away. The rum already promises a lot on the nose and reminds me of an old Demerara. So tempting that I can't wait to taste it. Very fruity on the palate, overripe blackcurrants? The alcohol is more perfectly integrated than I have ever experienced with any other rum. The maximum has really been extracted from the 47% vol. The only small drawback: a slight lack of depth and intensity due to the low ABV. But such a small "impurity" is easy to get over with such a fine diamond, isn't it? Top rum under the radar. Update 2023-10-06: The rum remains a top product for me, but has found its champion in the Savoir Faire 2009 with 60% (RX2744). Update 2023-10-18: Tasting again against the RX2744, this time direct. And I have to say that a direct comparison is really enlightening - and doesn't end well for the Emotion 1969 ... It seems like the league leader of the 2nd division playing at the top level in its class against a Champions League team ... 🙄 Try it out and you'll find it confirmed. RumX Advent calendar 09.12.2023 (blind tasting) I wrote in the appropriate place before solving the puzzle: Yes, on the nose I'm also more with FS, although what's amazing here is that you really perceive zero alcohol! A completely different rum on the palate: Not warm-caramel like on the nose, but clearly red-fruity and a little spicy. And what do I always associate with red fruit? That's right, Mauritius! Since this rum is not an alcohol monster, but rather under 50% vol. I'm guessing RX2495. Of course, it could also be another New Grove from Grays with around 45% vol. as there are still a few around ... Or maybe even a TDL. In any case, I like the rum very much. :yum::yum::yum:

Wonderful blend of wood influence and fruitiness. Really fun!

Exceptional profile. Almost with some dosage, I suspect. Somewhat scratchy finish despite only 47% and high price. Blind tasting.

Nice intensity given its low ABV. Nose is intense with honey and spices (cinnamon) as well as some tropical fruits showing nice aging and cask influence. Notes on the palate largely match the nose. Nice intensity and complexity. Definitely raises interest for more bottlings out of Grays.

RumX advent calendar - day 9 A bit weak due to low abv. Some leather notes reminds of st lucia, and is missing the usual mango while in mouth there are tropical fruits that recall me of rums from clarendon

A fruity nose with lychee, brown sugar, banana and gentian. More interesting on the palate than the nose would suggest, with complexity, fruit and more root. Medium finish with blackcurrant. A rum with a very fine mouthfeel but a nose that's a little behind the times.

Grays New Grove Emotion 1969 je výjimečný rum z Mauricia, který představuje harmonii mezi ovocnými a kořeněnými tóny s výraznými čokoládovými a kávovými prvky. Vůně nabízí tóny karamelu, sušeného ovoce, vanilky a pražených ořechů, doplněné o lehký citrusový nádech. Chuť je komplexní, dřevitá, s náznaky tmavé čokolády, kávy a koření. Závěr je bohatý, dlouhý a vyvážený. --- English Grays New Grove Emotion 1969 is an exceptional rum from Mauritius, showcasing a harmony of fruity and spicy notes with pronounced chocolate and coffee undertones. The nose reveals caramel, dried fruits, vanilla, and roasted nuts, complemented by a subtle citrus touch. The palate is complex and woody, with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, and spices. The finish is rich, long, and well-balanced.

Very round nose, warm wood meets fresh and dried fruit and fine spices. On the palate, the latter take the reins and take control with very crisp roasted notes. The fruit complements the spectrum and creates a harmonious overall picture, which lacks the final complexity and therefore cannot reach even higher rating spheres for me.

Richtig schöne Minznote. Finde ihn nur etwas zu süß und paar mehr Prozente würden ihm gut tun

Retasting at Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. --------------------- The other day I picked up a shipment of rum and I have now surpassed 200 rums in my collection. This particular rum i am enjoying right now and its a really nice and typical rum from Mauritius. Fruity spice nose going onto a wonderful fruity palate with vanilla and a hint of coffee. The oldest rum in this blend is from 1969 (10% of the blend) and it gives a nice depth to the final blend. The proof has been very well integrated with the fruit and spices. Price to quality is very good though it can be hard to get a bottle.

Even if the rum is not overly complex opens here an extremely delicious aroma of wood, citrus, mint and eucalyptus. An absolute insider tip.

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is very pleasant with dried fruits like raisins, apricots and citrus with an orange, as a wood is roasted with caramel, pastry, nuts, spicy with vanilla, nutmeg, shortly full-bodied. On aeration, a molasses brings tea and musty, slightly minty notes, some peaches pop up, dried currants. Some tannins are present, bring waxes, there might be some rubber. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is mostly fruity with tropical fruits like passion fruit, pineapple, later toasted coconut and even banana, dried fruits like raisins, later currants and citrus with orange and grapefruit. The wood is roasted with dark chocolate, mocha and nuts, later caramel, a bit spicy. Some tannins could be tasted, waxy. With resting, vegetal notes are more intense with tea, eucalyptus. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry, earthy and tannic, some new, tasty notes join the game, with an intention to round the rum like marzipan, toffee, confectionery and cherry...

Hidden Champion! Sehr gut, durch und durch. Super harmonisches und rundes Gesamtbild in Nase, Mund und Abgang. Stark auf der fruchtigen und röstigen Schokoladenseite. Karamell, Vanille, Holz. Für viele ein Standardprofil, für mich aber das beste Profil, wenn es gut gemacht ist. Und hier ist gut gemacht. Nur ein paar Prozent hätten es mehr sein dürfen.
