Best poured neat and given time to open up — several tasters say give it 30 minutes or the esters run you over. After that it settles into glue, nail polish, ripe pineapple and banana with a cookie-dough sweetness. A 2014 Hampden at cask strength; the TDL cask finish is subtle, adding a little red fruit but not much else. Some find it sour and sharp, easing with water.

What the hell is that color? Like liquid gold stretched with gunpowder. So the color is really very interesting! The taste is also interesting. Typical Jamaica with some dirty influences.

A cuvée that leaves me perplexed: it starts with the color. The rum has a blackish tinge (my photo is not good). Strongly alcoholic on the nose, some tropical fruits and esters. All of this continues in the taste. However, there is also a distinct off-note reminiscent of gasoline, diesel, or heating oil (and not in a positive sense). For me, this is an absolute failure of a product.

Definitely a rum that needs its time in the glass to breathe, otherwise the esters can be overwhelming. After 30 minutes, a wonderful combination of tropical fruits, esters, nail polish, and cookie dough, which lasts deep into the finish.

Yes, you can really recognize the nose from miles away. There are lots and lots of esters and glue here, as well as plenty of tropical fruits such as pineapple and banana. Just waiting for the Caroni to arrive :)

A rather strange bottling... first the color... as if ground burnt remains of the barrel were added. The nose and palate, in my opinion, are quite classically very close to the other Hampden 2014 H. Unfortunately, I also detect slight sulfur aromas. In the finish, delicate cherry notes join in.

#7152 12.08.2026 Relaxing after a hard walk/training on the way home from work today. Listening to some nice tracks by Anyma, Charlotte de Witte, Lisa Gerrard and Akushiya on Spotify. Very nice bottling with a nice price tag at release. Intense profile with overripe fruits, ester, spice, wood, mint and some roasted notes.

Unfortunately, it's not particularly complex for me. Very ester-heavy and tropical fruits, that's it. Unfortunately, it also has a very sour taste and finish. Fortunately, this goes away with a little water. I don't need a bottle of it.

First, let's check out what this is about: a 2014 <>H, finished for 12 months in a 2003 TDL cask. Really dark color, but on the nose at first just the HD high esters. Even with more resting time, I can't really pick out the TDL finish. Similar on the palate, the HD also dominates. Conclusion: a 2014 <>H with a dark color. The term 'Cuvée' doesn't really fit for me. But the HD is pretty decent.

👃🏼 = Fresh salad of ripe tropical fruits, especially mango and pineapple, all bathed in solvent with fresh herbs. 👄 = The alcohol is present throughout in a slightly oily body where exotic fruits rub shoulders with tea and a hint of caramel. What's more, the finish prolongs this explosive esterized cocktail. Although it has strangely turned greenish, this very expressive rum is ripe to delight us 👏

🎨 What a color! Between very dark olive green, yellow ochre, and iron oxides. 👃 Impossible to mistake, it smells like Hampden from miles away! Sharp esters, intense, the first nose leans towards glue, varnish, and solvents, burnt rubber. Delicious aromas of dry cake dough and butter caramel. With aeration, lots of very ripe tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, banana). The TDL 2003 cask brings chemical notes of red fruit bubblegum and berries. It finishes on an exciting combination of black olives, tapenades, turpentine, grilled pine needles, salted licorice. 😋 Lots of trigeminal sensations; burning, sharp, spicy, acidic, esterified. Tropical fruits, overripe pineapple and bananas, citrus notes (bitter grapefruit). Glue and solvents tame the flavors. Spicy wood, then lots of salty flavors, bacon, black olives. ⛳ Endless, warm, sharp. Acidic esters, roasted pineapple with chili, smoky oak, metallic notes, bitter, salty, and briny. Slight biscuit dough and yeast sensation. 💡 An excellent nose, very Hampden with that little extra typicity from the finish.

Incredibly inviting fruity sweet nose, with smooth estery notes. It looks a little charred in color. A little sharp-edged on the palate at first, but this quickly subsides. The finish is very pleasantly fruity with a little acidity that lingers relatively long on the tongue. A beautiful thing.

The beautiful Swell calendar had this surprise in store for us! Anniversary Cuvée 2 is without a doubt a Hampden blind, typical, with some red fruit notes brought by the TDL cask, slightly smoky notes too, and a little herbal touch. Simple and effective!

Judging by the color (dark khaki green) you might doubt it, but as soon as you bring the glass to your nose, you can tell it's definitely a Hampden like we love. On the nose everything is there, esters, solvents, woodiness, tropical fruits... and on the palate it's a bomb that explodes and lets all these flavors free. It's excellent!

Solid 2014 Hampden. Apart from the green color, I don't notice anything from the TDL cask. As a Hampden fan, I like this bottling, but for a blend, I perceive too little from the TDL cask. It's interesting that the cask has so little influence here, but I think with these high ester rums, it just doesn't work.

The color isn't in the rating color palette. A natural light gold, messed up by something like soot or graphite. That’s a minus - not pretty. The nose compared to the simultaneously tasted RX19261 and RX17342 is clearly more on the fruity side and less solvent notes. Plus cookie dough and marzipan. The ABV isn’t noticeable. Only over time do the glue-like parts come out a bit more. On the palate, alongside the already present tasty ester notes, there’s a somewhat unpleasant sharpness, probably due to the contained acid. This rum ends in a long finish primarily on solvent notes and, for my taste, too strong sharpness. Due to the deductions for color and because of the sharpness compared to the other two, it’s only in third place, but still a good <>H representative.

Nice nose, then very spicy on the palate with a strong cask influence. I find a certain imbalance between the rum and the cask. Also some acidity and burnt wood. It has a good sharpness too. Not my first choice for this vintage. Plus a whisky association in the finish... Hampden does that better.

26/09/2026: sample tasting @ home. Interesting to see a Hampden which had a finish in TDL casks. Not sure if I can detect the TDL influence though. Nevertheless, a very intense Jamaican profile with lots of esters, pineapple and solvents. Good release.

Needs a big aeration. Then from nose to palate, we're almost on a Hampden - TDL blend. The cask tamed the beast. Rather a gourmand Hampden. With a bit more esters, it could have reached 9. It's different from what we're used to drinking and it's very interesting.

A nice fruity Hampden without a lot of esters and chemistry. Mango and papaya in particular, with orange notes appearing after a longer inhale. The palate is again dominated mainly by tropical fruit, which makes the taste rather sweeter, accompanied by light spicy-herbal notes and esters. A classic and nice round profile where nothing stands out.

Good Hampden, but the finish and the very very dark color raise questions. Taste-wise it is very mild and rather smooth compared to other 2014s. If the goal was to round off the rum slightly, then it was absolutely achieved :)
