Famille Ricci Navy Blend by RumX 2025
Best sipped neat with real time in the glass — it opens slowly and shifts as it breathes. This is a four-country Navy blend: Jamaican esters and banana, roasted woody Guyana, spice and mint from Trinidad, with a faint tar-and-solvent whisper. Most love the layering, though several note the finish runs short and the components don't always fully knit into one whole.
The community says- Complex, layered
- Real ester funk
- But: Short finish

How does Famille Ricci Navy Blend by RumX 2025 taste?
Aggregated from 102 community reviews.
Layered four-island Navy blend, best neat Widely liked as an elegant, layered Navy blend where each origin speaks. Common gripes: a short finish, present alcohol before it rests, and less Caroni funk than the name promises.

Wow, extremely good blend! Hampden dominates slightly, but you can still taste Guyana and Trinidad. Really good!

Stark adstringierend.

A rum tasted at bar 1802 during the RumX party at WLP25 and at the first RumX meeting. A nose with a very broad aromatic palette, but each component appears a little timid, drowned in the mass. Edit: re-tasted and the Jamaican and Guyanese notes take over. The first taste is soft, then the aromas rise a little. Here too, a very broad aromatic palette where the fruity, floral and spicy notes of the TDL dominate. Edit: TDL is rather dominated by Jamaica and Guyana. The finish is balanced and elegant. A great success, even if the quest for balance was, for my taste, to the detriment of personality. Edit: the finish is less balanced but has more personality. I prefer it. I don't feel the Caroni in the blend. Edit: the Caroni is perceptible at the very end. It doesn't seem to be the same rum, Oliver explains that it was well oxygenated before the final bottling.

Very well balanced and exceptionally enjoyable. Needs some time in the glas to open up and show its full potential.

8,7:On the nose, copper, roasted wood and allspice, evolve pastry, tropical fruits like banana, minty, flowery molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On long aeration, it's potential grows and balances, as tons of various confectionery arises, salted caramel, roasted nuts, some anise, delightful red fruits and rubber, tar. 8,7:On the palate, the attack shows the complexity of this rum with tons of roasted wood notes like butterscotch, roasted nuts, various confectionery, sweet and salty, spices, pure oak, as tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, cherries, minty molasses, even dark with licorice, industrial marks with rubber and tar, quite strong copper, even esters. 8,6:The finish is long, tannic, the roasted wood shows darker facet with cocoa, still spicy, the molasses is fresh and minty, the fruits dried and tropical.

Super ricci / rumX evening at 1802, a huge thank you to all 3. A tasting to be taken in hindsight, because after a day at the live venue, a Korean restaurant and a daiqiri high ester, it needs to be tasted more calmly. A good blend, very well produced. Each provenance makes a statement.
Review by TheJackDrop

The Navy Blend from Famille Ricci and RumX is balanced and harmonious, but remains somewhat restrained. Spices, wood and nuts meet subtle exotic notes without any one flavor dominating. Easy to drink, I really like it
Review by Julien Ries

Nice blend, but somehow lacks that certain something for a top rating. At least I find it better than after the boozy night at the community meeting :) Otherwise, all the components are recognizable here: mint, wood, tropical fruits, esters, but also some dark chocolate. Only the typical Caroni is somehow missing.

Shy nose, hints of mint and dark/ red fruits Mouth dominated by TDL, a bit dirty funk, Jamaica is there, New Yarmouth taking center stage after a while, nice esters, wood, wild on the tongue, wood spices, dark fruits, integration of the components could be better, finish medium long, dry, tannins, hints of tar Good rum, but for a Navy rum missing the dark, leather, cigar notes of Guyana Disclaimer: might be influenced by a day of drinking at WL25 😇

I've now had this bottling in my glass for the 3rd time... and I have to say... it's good, but unfortunately it falls short compared to the Spirit of the Day and Trinidad of Soul... it lacks a bit of complexity, the fruit content is quite low

A very complex blend in which all three islands are recognizable from nose to finish. I cannot detect any real dominance. Great Guyana notes with wood and dried fruits meet light esters and tropical fruits from Jamaica. The TDL brings some nice mint with it, but the Caroni is only perceptible in accents. Conclusion: A good blend, but not a top-class navy blend
Review by Alexander Rasch
I really like the nose, as there's a lot going on here. The sweetness from the NY, the dark from the Guyana part, the red fruits from the TDL and the light Caroni dirt. Everything comes together and harmonizes well. On the palate, on the other hand, it seems a little wilder and it is no longer so clear which part is doing what here. The blend needs time in the glass. Then it becomes clearer, the wood becomes less, but the bitterness is still a little too present for me. The finish also has a lot of wood ... A nice blend, but with the proportions you somehow expect a little more body on the palate. Tastes good to me but doesn't come close to the first HQNB Ed 31 from RC.
