First impression: sweet, aromatic Nose: slightly fruity, marzipan, light Palate: you really have to search for the flavors here, nothing upfront Finish: short and light Overall impression: only with cola, in a nameless punch or as an alcohol shot for juices. Well, what do you expect for €7.99?

Ok, this is indeed very solid. Classic notes you would expect from a moderately priced column rum: vanilla, caramel, some wood but als quite some spices and a hint of fruits are present on the nose and palate. A hint of artificial strawberries on the finish. This is not lifechaning, but pretty tastey looking at price and ABV. Obviously this will not hold up versus full proof bottlings, but that is not surprising at all.

Nothing you must not miss, but for the price, a good one for mixing and also to nibble a little in the evening. Certainly not for the start of the evening, but good for the prescribed evening, if it still may be one. Given the price-performance ratio, it can definitely find a place in the home bar.

Fruity, slightly vanilla nose, slight alcoholic hint. On the tongue spicy, light wood notes, alcohol is noticeable - peppery note.. nothing earth-shattering, but hey, I paid 7.99€ for it! It beats some well-known products for more money - clearly!

In taste rather towards 5, which is by no means bad. Not everything can be 8-10. But for the price definitely recommendable, comes better anyway than some other discount store rum in this segment. Therefore 7.

A usable mixer for the money. It can be much worse. Still thin aromas. Therefore ideal for cola rum easy drink.

For the price, it was unbeatable. Unfortunately no longer available at Penny. Typical Barbados notes with a hint of ester. At 38%, the alcohol is not so well integrated. Good for mixing with cola. There Bacardi beats it by far. But also good to drink neat.

Not world-class but for 8€ a bottle I haven't had anything comparably drinkable so far, you can comfortably drink it neat, maybe a bit too sweetened and overly reduced but that made it very drinkable and that's what a penny wants when putting an 8€ rum on the shelf, the target group is students or party mixers, not the nerds.

Unfortunately really not a good product. Taste-wise, a lot of forward notes in the distillate overshadowed by sugar.
