The surprise here is strawberry: alongside the usual <>H glue, solvent and overripe banana and pineapple, several tasters keep picking up red fruit and yogurt notes that remind them of Savanna HERR. It's a young 8-year Hampden at cask strength, but the alcohol sits well and the fruit stays loud. Only real gripe: the finish fades faster than people want.

A Hampden that stands out from the crowd, especially from Whisky Live. The nose is a beautiful balance between ripe exotic fruits, oscillating between maracuja marmalade, banana, citrus and pineapple, and the perfectly balanced esters of the mark <>H. The marzipan, spices and smoky oak blend superbly with the medicinal side of the profile, it's really pleasant to smell. A very good first impression. The palate is just as delicious. Plenty of ripe exotic fruit and citrus fruits, generous esters with a hint of glue and solvents, well-dosed roasted vanilla wood and a hint of pastry make for a superb bouquet. The rum is oily, a little dry and funky, perfectly balanced and super-round. The alcohol is absolutely masterful. The finish is of medium length and becomes a concentrate of the aromas described throughout the tasting. The profile is dense, rich, heavy, but elegant throughout. A superb rum, whose brilliance reminds me a little of Habitation Velier's first bottlings from the same distillery.

A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2025. A nose of overripe fruit, glue, varnish, citrus and fresh, stewed fruit. A perfectly balanced nose, despite the esters. The palate doesn't start out too strong, then all the fruit and other aromas rise. Exotic fruits are in full force here. The finish is rather short, with most of the aromas fading away and a few lingering for a long time.

#5710 27.09.2025 Day one of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. This one hit the nail in my mind. Again my favourite mark and this one is pretty good and the price tage is pretty good. Very fruity and lots of esters mixed with some glue and light marzipan. Warm yet well balanced on the palate with faint marzipan and natural sweetness.

Ooh yes, finally a cask-intense Hampden that’s a lot of fun. Super funky with tropical fruits, great astringent mouthfeel with a good amount of woodiness and sweetness. And the best part: everything fits together perfectly.

Wow - for a comparatively young Hampden I wouldn't have expected this level. Besides esters and glue, you just can't stop discovering the different fruits of all kinds. Especially exciting is the strawberry which shows parallels to HERRs.

Tasted together with DomM at a small sample swap. Unfortunately missed ordering one. Thanks to BananaJoe for the slightly larger sample. In contrast to the Hampden from WL Paris and WL Hamburg, I don't think it can quite keep up. But not much is missing.

The nose is just amazing. Ester and funk and an unusually intense strawberry note on the nose. On the palate, noticeably drier and woodier than expected. Overall, a good Hampden but doesn't completely grab me.

👃 Intensity, funky, esters galore! Tons of glue, solvents, overripe fruits, first tropical fruits (Victoria pineapple, plantain banana), then red fruits, the strawberry yogurt of Herr de Savanna, and a dessert of marzipan with candied citrus. Then the side I like in Hampden, brine, olive smoke, curing, bacon. The glass deserves a lot of aeration to release all its subtleties. 😋 Boom, the esters knock at the door, who's there? It's us, the overripe fruits! It smells tropical (banana, pineapple), citrus eau-de-vie and red fruits (strawberry indeed, but also sour cherry). We find our friends solvents, varnish and glue, a slight melted wood and spicy and salty spices, pink peppercorns. The mouth is a bit less complex than the nose. ⛳ Medium length, warm, lively, spicy, peppery, bitter, astringent. Then sweetness, on salted marzipan, served with a fruit salad left too long in the sun. 💡 A Hampden that approaches some Habitation Velier such as <>H and C<>H. A nose and mouth that answer each other drumbeat, too bad the finish fades too quickly.

Lots of fruit. Alcohol is well integrated, especially on the nose. On the palate, it carries aromas of solvent and menthol. High concentration. Just a few drops are enough. A noticeable strawberry note throughout the tasting.

18-10-2025 - Rate 9.1 One the the best young Hampdens I have tasted in a long time. Perhaps my favorit mark plus a high ABV. What’s not too like 😉 Like the only ex. Bourbon cask. Tasted one with only sherry cask. Not for me.

Whisky Live Paris tasting. Impressions and evaluation are based on direct impressions from the tasting glass. A Hampden with many archetypal aromas of <>H Marques. The tropical maturation harmonizes, beautiful release - the rum delivers what it promises.

Franconian Tasting Gang November 2025: The 2017 <>H had to compete against the 2016 <>H from Habitation Velier (RX9149). For me, it beats it by far. While the notes of glue and solvent in the HV are almost unpleasant, they hold back a bit in the 2017 and let it play its delicious fruit notes. A very successful bottling.

Compared directly to the Habitation Velier, much warmer on the nose with more red fruits and marzipan. Reminds me a bit of Savanna with some strawberry. On the palate, the esters come through more. Overall, I like it better than the HV.

Tasted in parallel with the HGML Awakening Series. Similarly good in comparison. More creamy yoghurt notes here. More glue. Less wood influence. But fresher and fruitier. Fermented fruit, of course. In the mouth very similar to the nose. Fruit, esters, varnish next to yogurt. Very fresh. Menthol note at the back. Tasty

Excellent piece. The nose slowly reminds me of Christmas because of the fruit, spices, and a slight technical note. The taste is bombastic, full of overripe red fruit. The finish is a bit weaker; I expected it to be longer. But even so, it's a very pleasant surprise for me and I'd be happy to have a bottle.
