A 5-year-old Providence, the oldest and probably the most accomplished to date. It has an intriguing and empyreumatic nose accompanied by touches of fresh vegetal and herbal notes as well as berries and lime. The sugarcane, spices, and woody scents complete a rather complete and harmonious nose. The older the profiles get at Providence, the more complexity they gain. The observation is similar on the palate; the profile is deeper, more complete, and refined. Aromatically, you find the fruits (berries, lime), the fresh vegetal side that moves towards sugarcane juice, the spicy woodiness, as well as the dirtier side of rubber and tar. The texture is oily, the structure quite fluid but rich in flavors. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, a bit drier with vegetal, smoky, and spicy notes upfront but gains intensity with tar, rubber, citrus, exotic and dried fruits. A beautiful closing clap, both generous and attractive, there's no doubt Providence will have other very interesting profiles to offer in the future.

#5769 28.09.2025 Day two of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. I really like these Providence releases by Velier. They're usually pretty well balanced and exciting to both the nose and palate. This one is very fresh and green with som berries, acetone, nuts and light mint notes. In the back there is some wood and very light chocolate.

Whisky Live Paris 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm the score and notes. I was impressed by this one. 3yo 2020 was poor compared to 2019, a rum that I lover for its rough soul. Two more years of ageing added really a lot in terms of complexity, and that compensate a more balanced profile. What I clearly recall is a really long finish all on the sweet side

Tasted at WLP 2026 Very pleasantly surprised by this bottle. Should've been released in 2025. Will probably be released in the coming month (October 2026). I am looking forward to the future release of Providence and their future older releases.

In my opinion, this is a step up compared to the 3 years. Really pleasant. Providence is for me an everyday rum that I appreciate a lot.
