Roasted wood, toasted nuts and citrus lead here, with tobacco, leather and a warm spice sitting under Neisson's usual fresh sugarcane. Aged eight years in cognac and bourbon casks at 50.8%, it's a woodier, rounder take than the distillery's fresher agricoles. Most tasters found it "a nice surprise," though a few felt it was bottled a touch young for the name.

A relatively classic Neisson, but of the tamer kind. For me, the typical woody nutty aromas combined with the sweetness of sugarcane are present. Also the dried fruits, mainly raisin. Everything is very harmoniously intertwined and accompanies you from the nose to the finish.

On the nose, cane sugar and a floral side. Simple and linear nose. Palate on cooked cane, very sweet, almost a cloying side like the Reimonenq Prestige 9 years. Some raisins and a few flowers. Medium and sweet finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Really not my thing. Totally overrated for me.

9:On the nose, sugarcane, fresh with tea, flowery with geranium, mineral, grassy, minty, citrus fruits like orange, green fruits, mango, yellow fruits, bourbon ageing us felt, roasted wood notes, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, berries and raisins arise, the cane is candied and slightly perfumed, the wood is nutty, smoky with caramel, chocolate, pastry, spicy with vanilla and allspice. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is slightly sweet, dry with sugarcane honey, candied, herbaceous, grassy, flowery, mineral, earthy with tobacco, fruity with citrus, yellow and red fruits, as the wood is roasted with caramelized burnt sugar, nuts, leather, spicy with allspice, pepper. 8,8:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with grassy, flowery(geranium, perfume), earthy, slightly dark with black tea, sugarcane, citrus and dried fruits, roasted wood notes with chocolate, caramel, nuts, burnt sugar, leather, smoky, spicy with vanilla, pepper. #5735 27.09.2025 Day one of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. This was a nice surprice. A bottling where most things come together, ABV, Fruits, Wood and nice Spices. A very good rum in my mind.

A very complex and oily Agricole. Various citrus fruits make up the fruit portion, although this varies in intensity from nose to palate. Opposing this are intense sugarcane, nut, wood, and spice aromas.

Freshness, solvent, complex citrus aromas, macaroons, light spice. On the palate somewhat sharp and very spicy. Towards the finish a bit artificial, then warm spice. Good drinkable, young Neisson. But for the price you can get much better. Let's wait for the next LMDW sale. 😀😀

A delicious, smooth, and oily rum. Very soft on the nose. Woody notes, a touch of toast, citrus, and agricultural notes come to the fore. The longer it sits in the glass, the more floral notes emerge. The same notes appear on the palate. Additionally, dark chocolate, raisins, and grassy flavors come to the fore. A nice warm, spicy, medium-long finish.

On the nose, a good balance of fresh (citrus) and nutty notes, with a slight hint of chocolate/toffee. On the palate, gingerbread spice and caramel. Overall not bad, but honestly, I would have wished for a bit more complexity and depth. It can't hold a candle to the Neisson Le Rhum XO Full Proof bottlings, even though it's priced at their level.

Tasting WLP2025. 👃&😋 Neisson markers very present; dried fruit, candied citrus, nuts, light caramel, beeswax, vanilla. Elegance of the distillery's fine woodiness, agricultural character present under sunny and comforting sugar cane. A smooth finish blending island spices, sweet tobacco leaf, dark chocolate, and bookbinding leather. Not very empyreumatic, however. Compare with the previous three FPs, which seem a notch above. To be rediscovered in better conditions and at a leisurely pace. Looking for a sample.

The Neisson touch is still very recognizable on this bottling which lives up to its name. A nice woody base serves as the background to this rum which also proves very fresh, with a nice cane sensation, while bringing notes of tobacco and leather. A great success.

Time to celebrate holidays with some samples from some of the Neisson's latest releases. I think this rum did sit in the glass for a good 45 minutes before the review. On the nose: Woody, roasted and nutty notes dominate the profile. Sugarcane/agricole, light citrus and light raisin notes. Good intensity for 50% abv rum. Taste: Woody, nutty and spice notes at first. Light oily mouthfeel at first. Then you get more leather and tobacco notes with some grassy, sugarcane notes mixed in. Some nice fruity notes in the background, maybe mangoes. Good integration of alcohol. Pretty smooth. Finish: Warm, spicy, nutty and citrus notes. Short-medium finish. This was quite the experience and the range of notes did surprise me. I really enjoyed sipping this rum

"Aged eight years and bottled at natural strength, this first Neisson L’Empyreumatique cuvée is the result of a blend of rums aged in cognac and bourbon barrels." LMDW. Another great tasting in peace during the press evening, and what a punch! Both taste-wise (but also price-wise, that’s hard to keep up with..). On the nose: roasted and smoky notes, candied lemon, a more restrained pastry side, and a good mango coulis. Neisson & its cane are present but well masked behind other heady aromas. On the palate, a nice creaminess. Notes of raspberry, mango, caramel, as well as sweet & tangy notes. A real little candy, a bit less roasted this time, but since you keep putting your nose back in the glass... it works! Didn’t really notice the cognac barrel this time, but I liked it a lot.

Tasted together with RX25146. This one comes across as riper and more mature. More wood, more spice, more sweetness, but less fruit, less grass, less floral notes. Still unmistakably an Agricole, and a very good one at that.

Whisky Live Paris 2025 A nice surprise from Neisson. Unusual style, less precise but rather funny, I likes this one pretty enough, despite the neisson freshness leaves room to a more rounded woody profile.

V1 85: Beautiful roundness, nuts Nose: deserves to open up, quite concentrated on woody dark honey. A little freshness Palate: quite dry attack, very woody, a bit burnt, tobacco even ashtray then comes orangette, nuts and spice, finish more relaxed and pleasant than the attack. Let's see how it evolves with oxidation.

An 8-year tropical aged Agricole with a cool orange-brown color. To get straight to the point, the rum benefits greatly from 30 minutes plus in the glass. On the nose, the classic Neisson combo of barrel-aged releases. Spicy wood notes and a distinct sugarcane aroma. But this is more on the sweet side than the grassy side like with unaged examples. Additionally, light citrus notes. On the palate very aromatic. Delicious spiciness, roastiness and barrel notes complemented with sweet sugarcane. Long-lasting, staying on these aromas. The ABV, despite a moderate 50.8%, is noticeable but pleasantly expressed. Nice rum and a recommendable sipper.
