One taster called it "rum-on-steroids", and that fits: overripe pineapple and banana, nail polish, glue, and burnt caramel that fills the room the moment you pour. What surprises people is how drinkable it stays for a DOK at 60% — creamy, fruit-forward, even a little sweet, with a long oily finish. The youth shows in a slight bitter edge, but the ester intensity carries it.

For a 4-year-old rum, it's great. From the nose to the finish, everything revolves around pineapple. Despite a very high ester level and 60° ABV, it's surprisingly easy to drink. It's even a bit creamy. Very nice finish. You know what to expect, and I really like that.

Velier Christina de Middel Collection: LROK 2016: A good Jamaica rum. A bit herbal and bitter, otherwise typical Jamaica aromas. 7.5 <>H 2017: Already better. The core is really good, much more intense and astringent, very fruity, Mr. Funk is knocking at the palate’s door. 8.7 HGML 2018: Very smooth, much spicier, woodier and also more complex than the others. Great silky mouthfeel. 8.7 DOK 2021: Tasty, nice fruity start, but then the rum falls apart on the palate into nothingness. DOK and I won’t be friends again... 7.1 Many thanks for the samples @Skyfly

8,7:On the nose, esters, solvents, glue, funky, heavy, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, briny olive, roasted wood notes like confectionery, caramel, smoky, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, red fruits arise, the rum is balanced, buttery, molasses flowery and meaty tones are present, allspice. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, solvents, funky, concentrated, but balanced, fruity with fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, mango, papaya, red fruits, later citrus fruits, vinegar, creamy, sweet, wood is roasted with pastry, caramelized, spicy with allspice, dry and molasses grassy, vegetal with briny olive. 8,7:The finish is long, dry and tannic, medicinal, metallic, fruity with fermented pineapple, red fruits, dairy, vinegar, molasses is fresh with tea, vegetal, briny and wood smoky with confectionery. Velier Hampden Christina de Middel X-Tasting: Extremely harmonious DOK that brings the typical markers. Besides esters, solvent, and primarily pineapple in tropical fruits, you only taste other aromas peripherally. With perfectly integrated alcohol, this rum shows how awesome DOKs can be!

A fairly young DOK from Hampden. At first, I was a bit skeptical whether it was quite untamed. But I was positively surprised after all. Nice esters, tropical fruits, especially pineapple with a nice solvent funk.

Weekend trip with my brother to our old home Oelde in memory of our father. And another Hampden, here we also have ester, banana and pineapple, as well as solvents and glue. Somehow also slightly creamy.

Hampden tasting on 13.06.2026 Gift from Mr. D Jungberg. Velier Christina de Middle Magnum Series #3 LROK RX25061: (83 points) Nose: Fresh fruit acidity, overripe fruit. Palate: Citrus pineapple, light cantaloupe melon. Classic lightly recognizable LROK profile. Glass: Strong oak barrel aroma. <> H RX25063: (87 points) Nose: Solvent and wild funk. Palate: Fruit bump and overwhelming fantastic funk. Explosion of lightly sour refreshing fruit, pineapple and more. HGML RX25065: (85 points) Nose: Licorice, slight vanilla barrel, underpinned by fine light funk. Palate: Bitter fruit, spiced licorice. Sour fruit. Dok RX25067: (85 points) Nose: Heavy delicious fine funk. Palate: Creamy fruit acidity, slight bitterness, lots of pineapple and more. Tasting with D Jungberg (In the cave)

Super High Ester is no longer my preferred profile... I would have rated this better in the past. Still a great, tropically aged DOK. Lots of solvent, esters, and tropical fruits. On the palate, lots of pineapple, but also some banana and papaya, as well as a nice sweetness... more like an HGML than a DOK.

Color quite light. Power in the nose, marzipan, sweetness, pineapple, glue. Feels very round and harmonious. Not tiring at all on the nose. Also surprisingly approachable on the palate for a DOK. Fruit, funk underlined with a fine acidity note. The finish is long with a slight bitterness, not optimal for my taste. Compared to the other Marks in the series, not better but really drinkable.

Typical DOK intensity, the aromas spread throughout the room as soon as you pour it. On the palate, for only 4 years old, already quite successful, not as brutal as you might expect. Alcohol is also quite well integrated. Still, you can notice the youth a bit, especially in the finish. A successful rum that wouldn’t have been harmed by more time in the cask.

Esters!! There are a lot of them. A very fun rum, a solvent smell, aromas of tropical fruits and slightly woody notes, as well as a very long finish, a good rum. I just find it a shame that the aromas evaporate quickly in the glass.

Initial smell of banana, caramel, some oak and a little burnt tire. All these elements take off in your mouth. Some sour plum as well. Pours golden. Some copper or metallic taste on the tongue. Nice stuff. Relatively short on finish. Bottle split thanks to xamsx.

On the nose, esters with lots of pineapple esters 🍍, fruity and fine. On the palate, lots of funk and esters, with fruit and lots of pineapple. The absolutely eternal finish is a highlight for me. An absolute bomb of a rum. It would only be better with longer aging.

Nose: Super intense aromas—overripe fermented pineapple and overriped bananas, nail polish remover, varnish, and strong burnt caramel notes. Palate: Yummy rich banana bread, caramelized sugar, and strong industrial funk, with overbaked caramel biscuits.Surprisingly balanced despite the extreme ester content. Finish: Very long and oily, leaving notes of estery banana, rubber, and sweet caramel. Summary: A top notch, bold, and intense "rum-on-steroids". Only for the connoisseurs
