Tasting date 05.08.2026 RX 25074 Velier Rainforest. Nose: Medical and fermenting notes, light cane juice notes. Fine wooden notes. Palate: Fruity full-bodied, with some dominating tartaric acid. Nutty notes and light caramel. Subtile spices like allspice and white pepper. Vegetable / minerals notes with light olives. Residual tast are spicy with white pepper and allspice notes, dried white grapes. Faint of vanilla and caramel. Interesting bottling, I have no need for an additional bottle. The glass: Allspice, bitter sweet pipe tobacco, light oak notes. Smagning “In the cave”

A rum tasted at Whisky Live in Paris in 2025. The first nose is not very pleasant, with fermented notes and button mushrooms. Then pear, peach, and a light woodiness come through. The palate is moderately full, fruity but with a marked acidity. The finish is quite short, the fruits are there, but with a strong acidity. An interesting rum, though with a few small flaws.

#5708 27.09.2025 Day one of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. A surprising well made rum from the Philippines. Nice fruits, spices and a light nutty touch along wood an caramel. There is a light licorice and faint coffee note in the profile as well as faint olives.

A rum from the Philippines that finally steps out from Tanduay and Don Papa. And yet, it’s still not great. The nose is quite quirky and unusual for the region, with a base of mushrooms and earthy notes that bring freshness. There are more medicinal, more fermented aromas, dried fruits, pear, light wood, and subtle spices. A surprising nose and not fundamentally bad. Things get complicated once in the mouth, though. The profile becomes sharp, hot, rough, and develops few aromas. You can clearly taste the chili, but the rest pales with the wood, vegetal and medicinal side, dried fruits, and pear. It’s not a very pleasant combination of flavors in the mouth either. The alcohol isn’t well integrated. The finish finishes off this struggling rum with sharp, hot, slightly acidic notes that aren’t enjoyable. Raisin, spices, and vegetal notes don’t change anything fundamentally; it’s clearly a first draft of a Filipino profile that needs to build itself, learn, and gain wisdom and patience to get better. But let’s be honest, it’s not really a success.

Not convinced at all by this juice. I expected better. Especially from Velier!! If they were going to give us something Filipino, I thought we were going to taste something nicer. But in reality, it's not the case. I'm quite disappointed.

Tasting at "Basecamp" on 06.08.2026 Samples from Rum Depot. 👌 Nose on an adventure👃: I sense lots of olives, vegetable notes, pear, peach, general dried fruits. Tongue on an adventure 🥃: I taste a bit of olives, dried fruit, light oak influence, light licorice and again a feeling of medicinal notes. The tail of the story💫: long and warm finish with light notes of dried fruit and vegetables.

HV Chamarel 2017 – 65 % Pleasant and fruity, with a slight varnish note. Not bad at all, but nothing mind-blowing. HV Rainforest 2024 – 62 % Discovery of a new Philippine distillery! Made from pure cane juice “manpu”, fermented for a long time (10 to 12 days) with added dunder and muck, distilled in pot still, then aged in white wine (chardonnay) casks. Bottled at 62% and limited to 1,500 bottles. A nice surprise: the alcohol integration is successful despite the youth. Notes of licorice and olive stand out, making me curious to see what this distillery can offer with a bit more maturity.

#1803 10-07-2026 - Rate 7.4 Enjoying a summer evening with my mate Anders. I had brought this one to the table. He had it blind and was surprised. Young profile and very fresh. Nice aftertaste. Not one I need to try again.

Insane what Luca always digs up! It should taste like an Agricole. Definitely distinct grassy notes with alcoholic sharpness, pepper, and also a citrus note. Still very young, but once again something new!

Tasted at LMDW. An okay rum. Not mind blowing but just a good sipper. There are however better rums for this price point as it is easily forgotten.
