Don't let the modest 40.5% fool you — several tasters expected watery and got a flavourful, elegant Haitian instead. Fifteen years (bourbon then cognac cask) rounds off the raw clairin edges: sugarcane, mango, soft spice and a gentle natural sweetness over light oak. #5725 28.09.2025 Day two of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. A very nice and well balanced Haiti. Nice fruity and floral notes and some sugarcane and spices. There is also a nice natural sweetness on the palate.

Haiti (Distillerie de Jeanty) 2010 – 40.5% Selected from the Jeanty distillery, located near Grand-Goâve, this rum was made from pure cane juice fermented for five days. It aged 5 years on site in bourbon barrels, then 10 years in Europe in a cognac barrel. Result: an elegant, smooth structure with nice fruity notes... but without much brilliance. Nice, but gentle, nothing more (yes, I’m repeating myself, but that shows how lukewarm it left me).

Taste like Haiti from 60's, interesting

Tasted during Rhum Fest Paris 2026. I didn't realize back then that the ABV was that low, it's actually quite flavourful and not watery. I'm not usually a big fan of Barbancourt, but this one balances rather well the Haitian character with wood influence.
