It's a classic Trinidad TDL profile: menthol and eucalyptus, mango and banana, cedar and oak, with a little smoke and chocolate underneath. The cognac finish rounds it out nicely. Whisky Live Paris 2025. A beautiful nose, deliciously fruity, with sweet fruits like mango and a spicy/pungent side that goes well with cedar wood. A little refreshing menthol and a slight vegetal note complete the picture. Fruits dominate on the palate, tropical fruits, mango, yellow fruits and even some dried fruits (apricot, prune). The wood is discreet and the prune is more pronounced on the finish. You also discover some citrus. What a beautiful rum! But it needs a lot of aeration and resting time in the glass.

I expected more. It has a nice sweetness, the mint is very discreet, but at the same time something is missing. Finish very short, quickly gone.

#5726 28.09.2025 Day two of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. A pretty well made TDL with nice minty notes and well balanced ABV and wood. Among the fruits I can pick up is light banana, some cherry and faint mango. There is a very faint honey note in the profile.

Un TDL au nez relativement reconnaissable : bois, menthol, fruits jaunes, chocolat. En bouche, on comprend que le rhum a passé de nombreuses années en fût. La mangue et le menthol sont noyés dans une amertume amenée par le vieux bois. Un côté fumé également. Finale étonnement plus douce et vanillée, l'amertume laisse place à des notes plus rondes. Très sympa.

Tasting WLP 2025. 👃 Light caramel, dried fruits (cherry, cranberry), light tropical fruits (banana, mango), typical Ferrand Cognac woodiness. Chocolate, vanilla, freshness on kitchen thyme. Light empyreumatic (essence, essential oil). 😋 Fruits first (banana, yellow and red fruits), gently floral (flower honey, rose petal), fairly light menthol in the mouth. Slight empyreumatic smoke of overcooked butter, light tar. ⛳ Saline, buttery, tropical fruits, green citrus, light menthol freshness, licorice sticks. 💡 to be compared with the TDL 2000 from Swell de Spirits.

Tasted on the occasion of Whisky Live Paris 2025. On the nose, a typical TDL profile, menthol and eucalyptus for me, oak, caramel and tropical fruits in the back. Very flavorful on the palate, good balance between sweet and dry, eucalyptus is omnipresent, over aromas gravitate around it. You can feel the alcohol but it's not bothering. The more I get into it, the oak is coming out more and more, it's getting a bit more tannic and bitter. The finale is medium-long, oak and menthol. I can understand why it was given the current note (8.4 at the moment), considering the price point, but I think it still performs well, despite the not do long finale, the alcohol small bite, and it could be more complex on the palate.

Un bon vieux TDL qui atteint le quart de siècle de vieillissement mais qui conserve pas mal de sa superbe. Le nez prend dès le début des arômes fruités sur la banane, la mangue, puis la cerise et les fruits secs avant de se teindre de notes plus boisées, plus rôties, plus épicées et caramélisées. Le menthol est plus léger qu’à l’accoutumé, le profil devient plus soft et rond. Le profil en bouche est vif de prime abord puis s’assagit ensuite, c’est assez varié mais rien ne semble réellement dominer aromatiquement. On retrouve les fruits rouges, jaunes et tropicaux (mangue, fruit de la passion), le menthol, le bois, les épices et les notes empyreumatiques. Des notes plus pimentées et mielleuses surgissent. L’ensemble est assez intense mais ce n’est pas aussi transcendant que d’autres rhums du même terroir et Millésime ont pu donner. L’alcool est pas trop mal intégré. La finale est longue, intense mais plutôt ronde, tiraillée d’un côté par les fruits (citron vert, banane, cerise) et par le bois, les notes toastées et les épices (anis, réglisse) de l’autre. Le côté doux s’est transformé en caramel beurré, tandis que le menthol se veut plus succinct, s’effaçant doucement comme le profil. C’est un rhum plutôt bon et bien fait, mais le rapport qualité / prix n’est pas au rendez-vous, en particulier quand Planteray sort un 2003 pour 3-4 fois moins cher à quelques mois d’intervalle.

Fruits rouges, fraicheur, boisé et douceur. En soit c'est pas mal mais décevant pour moi qui aime bien quand c'est contrebalancé avec les fameux arômes industriels de Trinidad. Ca ne sera donc pas pour cette fois ci. La fraicheur n'est pas si intense. Le côté mielleux est par contre très présent, ce qui pour ma part m'écoeure un peu... Si le côté fumée était plus marqué, on pourrait penser à un croisement TDL Rockley ^^

🥇 Favorite: TDL 2000 – 56.4% My favorite of the Prestige Cellar LMDW triplet. A 25-year-old TDL (16 years tropical in ex-bourbon, then 9 years in France in ex-cognac) very well made, with beautiful menthol notes and superb overall harmony. It lacks a bit of length and complexity compared to the big calibers already released in TDL 2000, but it's still a nice tasting moment. At 279 cherries, however, it's far from the value for money that was so appealing with the TDL 2003 Terravera! 🍒

Whisky Live Paris 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm score and notes This is a nice selection, here the cognac pairs well with the usual TDL fruitiness. Maybe not the best 2000 but overall a solid release. Unfortunately the price is way is way too High.
