Un rhum dégusté au Whisky Live Paris 2025. Un nez auquel il manque un peu de complexité, mais avec des esters, de la vanille de bois neuf, un côté bonbon et du caramel. Des beaux arômes espagnols en bouche, sucrosité et caramel amer, réglisse, épices et bois neuf. Mais aussi des fruits et quelques esters. La finale est courte mais le caramel amer reste très longtemps. Un rhum dominicain qui sort du lot mais qui peine à me convaincre.

8,3:On the nose, glue, really roasted wood notes like dark chocolate, caramel, leather, roasted nuts, spicy, prunes and raisins, peaches and cherries, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, toasted coconut is out, baking spices with cinnamon, vanilla, burnt sugar and coffee. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is fruity with various dried fruits like prunes, raisins, apricots, some toasted coconut, orange peel and later red fruits, medicinal with glue and mild esters, as the wood is strongly roasted with chocolate, caramelized burnt sugar, leather, coffee and confectionery, spicy with baking spices, as the molasses is dark with licorice. 8,3:The finish is long, round, dry, slightly bitter, but creamy, fruity and dark with very roasted wood notes, spicy..

#5719 27.09.2025 Day one of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. This is an OK release with a nice ans spicy palate. fruits, coffee and some light chocolate notes balance out the wood in the profile that also has a light leather touch.

Typischer Rum aus der DomRep. Ganz viel Holz, Kokosnuss, Röstaromen, Kaffee und Karamell. Andere Aromen wie Getrocknete Früchte und etwas Schokolade im Abgang nimmt man nur partiell wahr. Alkohol gut eingebunden.

Lots of wood, smoky, and Spanish influences. PX/sherry-like notes. Dark chocolate, coffee, wood and caramel are prominent. The finish is slightly dry, glue, smokey and long. Alcohol is well-integrated.

Neben Kaffee, Schokolade und Rosinen und intensiven Sherry, sowie Nougat Noten ist hier auch eine relativ penetrante Maggi und Kräutersalz Aromatik zu schmecken, sowie bitter süße Lakritzbonbons. Grundsätzlich gut aber nicht wirklich das Profil was ich bei Dom Rep bevorzuge...

Schöner spanischer Stil, tropische Noten, wirkt deutlich älter. Sherry ist schon präsent, aber nicht störend. Richtig gut!

I dont remember drinking rums from Dominican Republic before. This rum did sit in the glass for a good 15 minutes before the review. On the nose: Woody, roasted, coffee notes dominate the nose profile. Glue notes did appear after the did sit in the glass. Light roasted coconut notes and light raisin notes at the back. Dry. Taste: Woody notes, dried fruits, some spices are in there too. Coffee. Chocolate. Light caramel notes. Good integration of alcohol. In overall, palate is missing richness and intensity. Finish: Woody notes. Spicy notes. Light Dark chocolate notes. Roasted. Dry. Light creamy mouthfeel at first, but finishes lightly bitter. Misses intensity and richer palate in order to receive higher score.

République Dominicaine 2008 – 60.8% Baptisée Hispaniola après sa découverte par Christophe Colomb en 1492, la République Dominicaine fut le premier territoire antillais à accueillir la canne à sucre. Après une longue tradition sucrière orientée vers l’exportation, les premières grandes marques de rhum y sont apparues au XIXᵉ siècle. Vieilli 14 ans sur place, ce rhum a ensuite bénéficié d’un affinage en fût de madère sous climat continental. Le profil est clairement sur le ron, doux et rond, mais la finale trop courte laisse un sentiment d’inachevé. Il reste en deçà du Thailand 2016, plus expressif et mieux équilibré.

Dégusté au Whisky Live Paris 2025 : Très gras, des notes marquées de chocolat, de café, une pointe de fruits cuits et une belle profondeur. Pas mal, mais je note retiens surtout le nez, très plaisant.
