"Ganz schön holzig," as one member put it, and that's the honest core here: oak leads, backed by cinnamon, leather, roasted coffee and warm orange peel, with dried apricot and raisin underneath. It's a 22-year Martinique agricole that stays dry and grassy rather than sweet. Several tasters find it very light and even a touch watery at 45%, wishing for more punch.

8,6:On the nose, sugarcane, fresh, grassy, herbaceous, flowery, yellow, dried fruits like raisins and apricots, orange, roasted oak notes like pastry, chocolate, roasted nuts, spicy, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the cane is candied, mineral, fresh with tea, sweet with honey, tropical fruits arise, leather, cinammon and vanilla. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is balanced with fresh, grassy, flowery sugarcane, herbaceous, mineral, vegetal, fruity, syrupy with dried apricots, raisins, currants, yellow and citrus fruits, as the wood is roasted with chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts, leather, spicy vanilla, cinammon. 8,4:The finish is long, dry&tannic, less fruity, sugarcane is still flowery, grassy, herbaceous, vegetal, mineral and oak roasted with dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, nutty, spicy. On the nose: Woody, light,dry, cinnamon,leather and little bit of vegetal notes. Taste: Woody, oaky,roasted and cinnamon notes. Light and oily mouthfell with a little bit of bitterness. Orange peel notes. Floral notes come in the end. Balanced. Woody notes dominate the profile, the abv could be higher. Finish: Woody, dry, orange notes, herbal notes. Very light and woody with spices on background.

#5729 27.09.2025 Day one of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. Just like the two previous releases, this one is also very light and smooth with a lot of fruity notes as well as spices, floral and caramel.

Watching the Tour de France and tasting a few samples at the same time. This is going to be a wonderful afternoon. Quite a change from Foursquare to aged Agricole. Still a very good rum, especially the wood and spice are noticeable here.

Third edition of the Art Déco series, this 2003 J. Bally stands out by its nobility. The nose starts with dried fruits (apricot) and orange, then lets the well-roasted oak, coffee, spices (cinnamon) and leather express themselves. A more vegetal and drier aspect comes in the background. A typical profile of the house but well chiselled. The palate releases agricultural waves, especially on herbs. We find the dark notes of coffee, cinnamon, wood and spices which slightly weigh down the profile but in a good way. The citrus (orange) and dried fruits bring this touch of indulgence that suits the palate well. The profile is rather balanced but very dry. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is quite long and remains in the continuity of the palate: agricultural greenery, wood, leather, roasted notes, spices, coffee, dried fruits and orange dominate the scene. Caramel and dark chocolate appear at the very end to soften the traits of this rum marked by its dry side. A very good agricole rum with a superb quality/price ratio, but the second batch of the series is for me superior, both in aromas and complexity.

Tasted at Whisky Live Paris 2026. Tasted before version #2. The profile is much fruitier than its predecessor. Citrus takes the spotlight. And as often with Bally, it's very pleasant and nicely balanced. Very good.

Nase ist würzig leicht Speckig . Frucht eher wenig . Alkohol nicht wahrnehmbar. Am Gaumen leicht ölig aber vorerst auch wässrig . Floral mit etwas Trockenfrüchte und Zimt . Alles in allem für mich eher enttäuschenden.... die Verdünnung hat hier meiner Meinung nach viel verschlechtert.

Nose is sweet with orange and herbal elements. Mouth is vegetal and floral with some caramel and warm orange. Finish more spicy than other art deco releases and a bit more punch. More spice than other releases, but ultimately think it’s a great drop
