CDI Grays Mauritius (Bar 1802) 2010
Tasters keep landing on the same picture: bright orange and grapefruit zest, a big hit of menthol and fresh mint, dried fruit, a little chocolate and roasted oak. The orange wine cask finish ties it together for most, lifting the citrus and adding a touch of sweetness. A few find the wine influence a step too far, but the room mostly loved this one.
- Big menthol freshness
- Orange and citrus
- Well-integrated alcohol

Review by Mirco
Interesting Mauritius rum with a distinctive, slightly edgy aroma. On the nose, herbs, citrus zest, a bit of vanilla, and a subtle tropical fruit note. On the palate, dry and spicy with wood, pepper, and a slightly grassy nuance, plus mint that adds freshness to the profile. The fruity sweetness stays in the background but provides balance. Overall solid and full of character, with clear edges and angles.

Great red-brown color in the glass! Nose: Intense with lots of freshness (mint), resin and a dirty note. Palate: there's a lot going on here! Like a huge tam-tam, more and more facets gradually unfold! Finish: medium-long, very harmonious on the palate, no bitterness. Outstanding Grays! Also very suitable as a submarine in a T.D.L. blind tasting because of the minty note!

A rum tasted at Bar 1802 during WLP25. An open, complex nose, round with varnished wood, fruit, floral notes and sweetness. The palate is full, greedy and balanced. Beautiful aromas and freshness. The finish in orange wine barrels is obvious and works very well. Definitely excellent value for money.

This is clearly a nugget. The nose is lush, fruity and fresh, a symphony very pleasing to the nostrils. Roasted wood and chocolate, along with a few spices, support a lovely menthol that breathes a breath of freshness. Red fruits and citrus fruits return the favor for an exquisite exotic sweetness. A nose of balance and delight. The palate is full-bodied and balanced, but becomes more powerful and exuberant. It's really very good, very fruity and floral. Freshness is the order of the day, with menthol and tropical fruit. Spices, chocolate and a few woody, alcoholic notes sharpen the profile and give it that little extra kick, making this a rum perfectly balanced between power and pleasure. The alcohol is superbly well integrated. The finish is very long and long, as fresh and invigorating as ever, with citrus, blackcurrant and exotic fruits. The tannins of the wine and wood come through very lightly on the finish, just enough to sharpen it. A very pleasant rum to drink and discover, with incredible value for money.

Verkostet in der Bar1802. Perfekte Balance zwischen Holz, Würze und zurückhaltender Fruchtigkeit. Tief und komplex. Gut trinkbar, ausgewogen. Top 🔝 Qualität aus Mauritius.

A recent innovation only available from the Donovan team at Bar 1802. Aged 15 years with an orange wine cask finish, bottled at 51.7% brut de fût, on paper it looks sexy. But is it worth it? Absolutely! On the nose: yellow fruit, acidic notes, bitter orange (but no vinous notes), and on the palate, still fruit, some tannins, and a big dose of menthol. I just love it! My friends were equally impressed. Clearly a bottle I need.

Der Rum macht mal richtig Spaß. Fruchtig, Sommer ... Mal ne wirkliche außergewöhnliche Flasche.

8,7:On the nose, fruits with orange, tropical fruits, minty, flowery, herbaceous molasses, waxy, smoky, roasted wood with nuts, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, yellow, dried fruits are out, dark chocolate, caramel and vanilla, fresh tea. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is fresh, round with minty molasses sweet with honey, flowery, vegetal, grassy, fruity with tropical, dried, citrus fruits, berries, as the wood is roasted, oily with caramel, chocolate, pastry, spicy and smoky, tannic. 8,6:The finish is rather long, dry&tannic, oil ly with roasted wood notes, spicy with pepper, allspice, smoky, fresh with minty molasses and tea, fruity dried fruits, citrus, yellow fruits, berries, some menthol hints might be recognized.

Whisky Live Paris 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm score and notes Well actually it was at the 1802 in the After party. But yet this will be reviewed again. A good Grays, just the Orange wine finish is maybe a bit too much influent and this to me is not good. Overall Grays is confirming itself a good distillery

Very short finish, but nice combination of tdl, Armagnac and rev flavours.
