#5751 28.09.2025 Day two of the Whisky Live 2025, which this year looks better organized/arranged inside. This is a wonderful and well balanced release with very good wood and ABV integration. Fruity with some light chocolate, herbs and spices.

Ultra-premium bottling from the distillery, this cuvée lives up to its name. The nose, smooth and elegant, shows pretty menthol and sugarcane notes, then moves towards honey and lime before turning to spices (notably cinnamon, chili, and vanilla) and lightly roasted wood. You can tell the long aging has paid off to offer a homogeneous and structured nose. The palate is just as harmonious with its spice influence (cinnamon leading), very well integrated woodiness, and honeyed sugarcane notes. There are also dried fruits and earthier flavors. The whole offers a nice roundness and a rather noble and complex product, with well-integrated alcohol but enough to have character. The finish follows the same line as the nose and palate start. You find that sweet and soft side, wood, spices, and fruity notes for a long finish that is dry and mellow at the same time. A nice profile overall, but victim of the pretty decanter syndrome, hiding a really abusive price compared to the cuvée offered.

Whisky Live 2025 - to be tasted again to confirm score and notes. High expectations not completely Met for this rhum. The most negative point is the astringency i found when sipping. Overall is not bad, a typical Montebello with wood and nuts.
