Bologne Le Distillat Brut de Colonne Rhum Blanc

Big peppery agricole, bottled at full column strength with nothing pulled back. Fresh cane, lime and a lick of anise up front, then pepper that settles into the back of the mouth and stays. What surprises most tasters is the roundness at 75.5% — the heat is there but well integrated, not a burn. A few pick up honey and white fruit; one found grainy, corn-like notes instead.

Bologne Le Distillat Brut de Colonne from Guadeloupe is made from red and black cane, distilled in the distillerys copper column and thereafter rested for 18 months and as for a Brut de Colonne then bottled without any reduction at 75,5%. Overall an Agricole that has an exceptional roundness for its high ABV.

#5582 22.08.2025 Relaxing with a set of samples while listening to some new Trance tracks. Nose Fresh, medium intense, Agricole, sugarcane, light anise, citrus, faint honey, light floral. Palate Oily, balanced, fresh, medium intense, fruits, Agricole, light anise, citrus, light floral, faint cherry. Finish Long and warm, balanced, light oily, Agricole, sugarcane, citrus, light anise. Empty glass Anise, citrus, sugarcane, faint cherry. Needs to rest for a while to really open up and ABV is close to perfectly integrated.

For me, this is one of the weaker Brut de Colonnes that I have tasted so far. Complexity rather manageable, at the same time the profile tends towards cereal-like notes, which are not my cup of tea. Alcohol integration is good, but not enough for a "good" rating.

The distillate of the black cane...any black cane is not easily delivered...and behind the notes of almond and white fruit opens a very integrated rum on the white peach, the juicy pear and a very pleasant structure.... nice length in mouth...in my opinion the quintessence of what the agricultural rum produces of better and which is the most underestimated of the game.....great work of the distillery to arrive at this result....

Nez sympa Bouche forte des 75.5 Longueur grasse avec beaucoup de poivre mais aussi de la sucrosité. Un ensemble cohérent mais pas parmi les meilleurs bdc pour moi.
