Dark chocolate and roasted wood do the heavy lifting here, with caramel, dried apricot and cherry sitting behind. The PX cask is obvious but this doesn't drink sweet — spice and oak keep it on the dry, darker side. At 48.7% a bit of heat pokes through, and a couple of tasters found the alcohol not fully tucked away. A savory, sherried sipper rather than a sugar bomb.

8:On the nose, roasted wood, slightly resinous, smoky, with leather, burnt sugar, roasted nuts, earthy molasses with tobacco, dried apricots, raisins, cherry, bump into our nosetrils. The barrel impact is noticable. On aeration, caramel, cocoa are out, confectionery, the wood is toasted, soft, the molasses is slightly minty, dark with black tea. 7,5:On the palate, the attack is creamy, a bit dry, sweet with roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, butterscotch, caramelized, confectionery, leather, nuts, dark chocolate, spicy with black pepper, allspice, vanilla, the molasses is earthy with tobacco, the fruits dried with raisins, apricots, citrus fruits. 7,1:The finish is quite short, dry and tannic, with roasted oak notes, spicy, pairing dried fruits and coconut. Verkostet zusammen mit einem Planterey Panama im white Port Fass und einem Planterey Barbados im Marsala Fass. Hat in diesem Trio den zweiten Platz belegt. Recht dunkle Farbe. Macht durchaus was her. In der Nase würzige Noten. Obwohl ein PX-Fass im Spiel ist nicht süss wirkend. Etwas Karamell aber insgesamt eher zurückhaltend. Am Gaumen dann süsser, aber auch hier überwiegen die würzigen Aspekte. Die Einbindung des Alkohols ist nicht optimal und es kommt etwas Schärfe durch. Der Abgang dann dem Gaumen folgend, mehr auf der Fassnote jedoch ohne wesentlich neue Aromen.

Das PX-Fass hat seine Spuren hinterlassen, dennoch bleibt eine recht herbe bis ruppige Natur erkennbar - viel Gewürzschärfe ebenso wie erkennbarer Alkohol. Zwar grundlegend süffig, aber insgesamt etwas unausgewogen.

Very smooth Dominican rum The nose appears to be sweeter than the palate. There is a lot of caramel as well as dried fruit, cherry and wood. The palate turns from the sweet side to the darker side. There is lots of dark chocolate, wood, tingling spice(I would say cinnamon) and something nutty. The fruit falls behind. The finish is medium to long. Again the dark side prevails. Lot of dark chocolate, coffee, spice and caramel. Alcohol is well integrated.
