Blackadder T.D.L Findest Trinidad Rum (Celebrating 30 Years Of Blackadder) 2009

Give it time in the glass — nearly every taster says the same, and it's the whole trick with this one. Out of a fresh pour it's closed and hot at 64.2%; rest it and the classic TDL menthol, thyme and peach come through, with cask oak, toffee and orange peel behind. One taster caught a metallic, clingwrap edge too. Rewards patience and a drop of water.

Schade.

#6764 08.05.2026 Relaxing with some evening samples while listening to som enice Psy Trance tracks on Spotify. This is a pretty good bottle and the price tag at release was also pretty OK in my mind. Medium intense profile with nice spices, fruits, mint and some caramel.

A typical T.D.L 2009 vintage that, despite good quality, can’t hold a candle to its brothers by a long shot (like Roots, TWJ, or CoR). Caramelized yellow fruits, Christmas market apples in sugar glaze, and of course the classic T.D.L mint. The alcohol is moderately integrated. Somehow the flavors on the palate are very subtle, like they’re waiting for the right moment that never really comes. Thanks for the sample @Saibot

This rum needs a bit of time in the glass. On the palate, you get the typical TDL notes of wood and mint but also a solid toffee note. The alcohol is well integrated, with the expected sharpness. Definitely give this young one some time in the glass and it will keep getting better!

Tasted at SITS ‘25. The aroma is a straight ambush of menthol, thyme and everything fresh and cool in existence, chased by heavy cask notes, bresilliene nuts and orange skin gratings. There’s an interesting cameo of a clingwrap note as well as an ever so slight metallic taste, hate it or love it. In the mouth: peaches. Then spearmint and a hint of apple slices. Then barrel. Lots of barrel, with oak, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger tea. The experience is quite peppery and it stings the tongue quite a bit to the point of becoming spicy. The latter is not my favourite note, but playful and exciting here. The finish is long and cooling, with more spearmint, menthol, ginger tea and canned peach juice sweetness. A great bottling with certain (im)perfections and a not so great UVP.

Angostura is famous for a bottle most people never drink neat. The bitters house founded in 1824 became Trinidad's only rum distillery, and its arm Trinidad Distillers makes a clean, column-distilled, Spanish-style rum unlike the heavy funk of Jamaica or Guyana. The same plant still guards the secret recipe for the world's most famous cocktail bitters.
