Gourmet Pool Long Pond Special Reserve LSO 2005
People already deep into aged Jamaican rum are the ones who'll get this: a 20-year Long Pond that hides its near-70% under a quiet nose, then turns oily and intense on the palate. Glue, tropical fruit, spice and bitter orange meet heavy oak and tannin. Surprisingly low on ester funk — several tasters say it leans toward an EMB/Clarendon profile, even a touch of Caroni dirt.
- Alcohol well integrated
- Oily, complex palate
- Endless finish

How does Gourmet Pool Long Pond Special Reserve LSO 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 30 community reviews.
Oily, complex 20-year low-ester Long Pond Loved by the experienced crowd as a complex, oily, low-ester Long Pond with perfectly buried alcohol. A few find the wood and bitterness a bit far along, and the high ABV needs time.

Nose: Intense ester punch meets green banana and dried fruit. The nose is dense, multilayered, and surprisingly gentle despite the high ABV. Palate: A tropical powerhouse! Ripe pineapple and passion fruit meet cinnamon oak and fine dark chocolate. The texture is wonderfully heavy and oily – a rum with real character and impressive structure. Finish: Long and complex. A mix of woody sweetness, leather, and tobacco. An excellent and impressive Long Pond.

#5850 11.10.2025 Visiting the Whisky Live Hamburg 2025 event. It was the first of its kind and went off pretty well. They still have to learn a lot about running an event like this. People were allowed to bring backpacks and even cabin bags to the event and that is a problem in my mind. This was the last tasting of the event and I'm happy it was. This is a bomb of an LSO Mark. Fruity, spices and wood marries perfectly with the ABV. The finish is like forever even after drinking water.

Hammer! 😋😋😋 But Long Pond? Never in my life! This is an EMB, and a really, really good one. I'm flashed! If you try it: Don't be fooled by the faint nose. I've never tasted a rum where the intensity of the aromas on the nose and palate are so different. Unconditional recommendation if you are an EMB fan.

Chapeau! Macht Spaß auf mehr…

Nose: very balanced, slightly fresh, sticky, hint of sweetness, Palate: boooooooommm! The rum coats the entire mouth with aromas! Fruity and sweet at the beginning, then the spectacle turns into a cask-heavy rum. Finish: the transition is perfectly smooth, at the end tannins and slight bitterness dominate, but glue and tropical fruits keep flashing up! What a rum! The nose barely gives a hint of what's in the glass! The barrel-heavy finish is limited. In addition, excellently integrated alcohol! Excellent!

An incredible LongPond. 70%??? Never in my life, alcohol perfectly integrated, incredibly intense and complex. Great interplay of wood, spices and some herbs. The finish doesn't want to end. I am really enthusiastic about this bottling.

Beautiful Long Pond, and certainly a highlight of the rum bottlings at Whiskey Live in Hamburg. Wonderfully balanced with great spicy woody aromas, alcohol sensationally integrated. A great discovery. Tested again at home. Many thanks to bananajoe for the sample.

Exzellenter Long Pond

I am surprised! I would guess a high proportion of tropical maturation! Really good!

As Gunnar already wrote. The nose is restrained in contrast to the palate. Really intense and with a lot of power. You can keep it in your mouth for ages and it changes constantly. With spice, wood, fruit, then wood and leather again. Great. An absolute grenade.

Starkes Brett!

Long Pond 09/2005 bottled 10/2025 Ex Bourbon Barrel; LSO, 12y tropisch/ Rest Conti.

Interessanter Rum. Was ist es? Steht Long Pond und Clarendon drauf. Erstmal viel Alkohol. Wenig Ester. Mit bissl Wasser erinnert es an EMB 1995. Also eher Clarendon.

A very nice dark Jamaica profile. According to the label, it comes from the Clarendon Distillery in Long Pond ... so it's a little questionable exactly what it is. The alcohol content is not ideally integrated for me. Also reminds me of the EMB profile - very dark, very high proof, needs a lot of time in the glass. In a direct comparison with another 20-year-old Long Pond, it unfortunately fell a little short, hence not the top rating
