Nose: Intense ester punch meets green banana and dried fruit. The nose is dense, multilayered, and surprisingly gentle despite the high ABV. Palate: A tropical powerhouse! Ripe pineapple and passion fruit meet cinnamon oak and fine dark chocolate. The texture is wonderfully heavy and oily – a rum with real character and impressive structure. Finish: Long and complex. A mix of woody sweetness, leather, and tobacco. An excellent and impressive Long Pond.

#5850 11.10.2025 Visiting the Whisky Live Hamburg 2025 event. It was the first of its kind and went off pretty well. They still have to learn a lot about running an event like this. People were allowed to bring backpacks and even cabin bags to the event and that is a problem in my mind. This was the last tasting of the event and I'm happy it was. This is a bomb of an LSO Mark. Fruity, spices and wood marries perfectly with the ABV. The finish is like forever even after drinking water.

Nose: very balanced, slightly fresh, sticky, hint of sweetness, Palate: boooooooommm! The rum coats the entire mouth with aromas! Fruity and sweet at the beginning, then the spectacle turns into a cask-heavy rum. Finish: the transition is perfectly smooth, at the end tannins and slight bitterness dominate, but glue and tropical fruits keep flashing up! What a rum! The nose barely gives a hint of what's in the glass! The barrel-heavy finish is limited. In addition, excellently integrated alcohol! Excellent!

Hammer! 😋😋😋 But Long Pond? Never in my life! This is an EMB, and a really, really good one. I'm flashed! If you try it: Don't be fooled by the faint nose. I've never tasted a rum where the intensity of the aromas on the nose and palate are so different. Unconditional recommendation if you are an EMB fan.

I was really looking forward to the first GourmetPool rum bottling. On the nose, it instantly reminds me of the FineDrams EMB 95/97 bottlings (both of which I scored 91 points), with ripe tropical fruits, cake batter, glue, caramel. On the palate, dirty-chemical Caroni hints, barrel/tannins in the finish. The high ABV packs a punch, but it doesn’t feel hot. Truly an excellent debut. Chapeau! Makes me eager for more…

Great Long Pond. More on the spicy strong side rather than funky fruity... with orange, banana, chocolate, caramel, a bit of mint and marzipan. Also solid performance in a Mai Tai. Top stuff, though too expensive in my opinion.

What kind of crazy Hampdens do they have here now??? These are intense. Overripe tropical fruits like pineapple and banana, but also a round of esters + glue and solvents, really tasty :-)

An incredible LongPond. 70%??? Never in my life, alcohol perfectly integrated, incredibly intense and complex. Great interplay of wood, spices and some herbs. The finish doesn't want to end. I am really enthusiastic about this bottling.

A rum tasted at WLP in 2026. Let me say right away, the best surprise of Whisky Live. According to my quick poll, this opinion is shared by many enthusiasts. A broad nose with width and depth, offering everything a great rum can. What also strikes is the perfect balance while the aromas are numerous. The palate is just as broad and deep, rich in all kinds of aromas. The finish is perfectly coherent, all the aromas ending in harmony.

The 2005 Gourmet Pool in direct comparison to the 2005 Bottleshop (RX23695).. Two 2005 Long Ponds could hardly be more different. The Gourmet Pool is much more multifaceted and complex than the also very good Bottleshop. On the nose, the GP is fruitier, on the palate more complex... almost like a good blend of Caroni, TDL and Long Pond. For me, the clear winner in this comparison.

A top-class LP and incredibly complex like few rums. The fruit notes harmonize perfectly with the rather dark aromas from the cask influence. The alcohol was a bit too strong for me personally, but with a few drops of water (which I haven't done in months) it was a blast - making the aromas even more beautiful to taste!

Wow – right from the nose there's a distinctive, dark profile. Dry, with lots of pipe tobacco, leafy greens, and smoky notes. Behind that lie tropical fruits and fine herbs, which play more of a supporting role. An astringent impression underscores the strong character. On the palate, lots of power and intensity. The alcohol feels a bit sharp, but basically fits the profile. The dryness runs consistently through the entire tasting and gives the rum a sophisticated, independent style. Not a bottling I'd absolutely have to own a whole bottle of, but overall very coherent. Especially the dark, tobacco aromas set it apart from many other rums.

Maybe I came in here with too high expectations. The nose is really nice and makes you want more. But on the palate, unfortunately, it goes in a somewhat different direction than expected. Nutty - spicy - oily but also meaty / smoky. Tastes to me blind as if someone had added 5% TECA or TECC to a Worthy Park or a low ester Long Pond because I can't quite explain this meaty fermented / overripe note otherwise. 😂 Not a bad Long Pond but I come out of the tasting with somewhat mixed feelings.😆 Was it finished in some special way?

On the nose a nice sweetness. Gentle glue notes that are not too intrusive. Really a wonderful nose. On the palate a creamy experience. It brings complexity. Stays long on the finish. A 9.x is certainly not exaggerated here.

Finally tried this Long Pond. My conclusion: a very tasty bottling that can do quite a bit. This LSO Mark was new to me. For me, a rum that is very good, but it still lacks the final kick to hit around a 9.

A true delight! Super intense and highly aromatic, you don't notice the alcohol. With water it becomes even more intense and more orange comes through. A super delicious roasted note on the finish together with orange and chocolate/cocoa create a dream of a finish.

Nice color! Phew, almost 70%, it hits the nose, yet super integrated. The trio of lacquer, mint, fruits dominates. Dirty notes (Caroni), orange peel, slightly woody, slightly spicy. Very complex, not for casual sipping. Great nose!! Very oily, silky warming in the mouth. In the finish roasted leather. Light and not too long. Awesome Long Pond. Hardly any esters (Yo!), a glance towards Trinidad. Demanding and complex. Thanks to Bonn!!

It says Long Pond on it, but it strongly reminds me of a tropical aged Clarendon with EMB mark. Needs some time in the glass, but then the bottling delivers. Tropical fruits, wood, esters, spices. The long finish brings a lot of cask influence, but the bitter notes are kept in check.

As Gunnar already wrote. The nose is restrained in contrast to the palate. Really intense and with a lot of power. You can keep it in your mouth for ages and it changes constantly. With spice, wood, fruit, then wood and leather again. Great. An absolute grenade.

I think this is my first EMB - thanks again to @mto75 for the sample! Amazing stuff, a real knockout! Let it develop in the glass on the terrace with some light sun and the nose comes more and more to the forefront. Floral, rich with slight industrial influences in the background - interesting combination! On the tongue then Jamaica - fermented fruits, but without slipping too much into esters. Rather the opposite, bitter notes of citrus fruits, wood and dirty hints reminiscent of Caroni with the oily, edgy notes of solvent and a bit of rubber. Great bottling, fun to drink, lasts a long time!

Hats off! Great long-aged Long Pond. Intense nose (needs to be covered a bit). Great interplay of ripe tropical fruits and the wood. Once the palate is adjusted to what it has, it's impressive. Everything fits perfectly here. Strong, spicy, tannins from the wood, slight mint in dark chocolate, plus orange. A top rum with a long dark finish. The best LP I've had so far.

Starkes Brett! Unglaublich smooth und rund, die 20 Jahre im Fass haben aber mal richtig gut getan. Bitterorange trifft auf ölig-minzigen „Dreck“, sind wir hier in Trinidad?!? Ein Long Pond der Spitzenklasse - nicht zu viele Ester, nicht zu kantig, dazu top eingebundener Alkohol (der soll 69% haben?) - ein richtiger Gentleman aus Jamaika!

Interesting rum. What is it? It says Long Pond and Clarendon on it. First of all, a lot of alcohol. Few esters. With a bit of water it reminds me of EMB 1995. So rather Clarendon. But it remains a bit rough. Certainly a very good rum, but for me not 9 or more.

Great low-ester LP. Nice, creamy mouthfeel and great alcohol integration. Maybe even a bit overripe in maturity, the bitter notes are comparatively pronounced. But that's nitpicking at a high level, it's already a fine drop.

A real slap! A unique Long Pond with an eye for detail. The nose is superb with this tannic (and tonic) woodiness enhanced by glue, citrus (orange), and tropical fruits (banana). You can detect caramel and toffee, spices (anise, vanilla), but also chocolate and more roasted aromas that bring a welcome indulgence. A fresh, lively, and intensely vibrant profile. The attack on the palate is super powerful but very balanced in aromas. There is great finesse in this refined tannic woodiness, perfectly supported by chocolate, roasted notes, and spices (chili). The orange and banana are still there to maintain the indulgence, while medicinal notes add dryness and elegance to the palate. You feel all the depth and complexity of the profile; it’s superbly crafted. The alcohol is very well integrated despite the proof. The finish is very long, dry, tannic, and elegant. Bitterness gains ground with orange, mocha, cocoa, and roasted notes. The warmth of the profile is felt with caramel, glue, chili, and leather. The woody and medicinal tones refine the profile at the end of the palate and perfectly highlight its structure and depth. An exceptional quality Long Pond that you definitely shouldn’t miss.

A very nice dark Jamaica profile. According to the label, it comes from the Clarendon Distillery in Long Pond ... so it's a little questionable exactly what it is. The alcohol content is not ideally integrated for me. Also reminds me of the EMB profile - very dark, very high proof, needs a lot of time in the glass. In a direct comparison with another 20-year-old Long Pond, it unfortunately fell a little short, hence not the top rating

Very very beautiful Long Pond, tastes like WLP 2026 which is the best for me compared to the latest Velier. Rounder, nice power, complex and magnificent length. The nose is however shy on the fruit and freshness but a big explosion on the palate. A must have

Nose: Very intense and initially strongly alcoholic. Unfortunately, the high alcohol masks some of the other aromas on the nose. Behind that, there is strong wood, dark spice, and some roasted or leathery aromas. On the palate, extremely intense and clearly cask-driven. Wood and dark spice are clearly in the foreground, along with roasted leather, bitter chocolate, and tropical fruit in the background. The alcohol is well integrated but feels a bit bold. With a drop of water, the rum opens up a bit. Finish: Long, warm, and bold, with wood, dark spice, and roasted notes. Conclusion: A sensationally intense Long Pond that probably works excellently for whisky drinkers. For my taste, however, the cask dominance is a bit too strong, causing the fruit and esters to recede too much into the background.
