Wet wood, black pepper and anise up front, with the salty-herbal olive-brine note that marks a Port Mourant. The nose stays shy and a bit sweet, then the palate turns intense: roasted, peppery, salty, with candied herbs and dried fruit. At 61.6% the alcohol reads a touch hot for some. A classic PM profile, more savoury and continental than tropical.

Hanse Spirit Hamburg February 2026. And then a Port Mourant from FRC. Also another Australian unicorn, Serge himself said I should try it :) This one could almost be a T.D.L, the herbs/mint dominate here.

#5855 11.10.2025 Visiting the Whisky Live Hamburg 2025 event. It was the first of its kind and went off pretty well. They still have to learn a lot about running an event like this. People were allowed to bring backpacks and even cabin bags to the event and that is a problem in my mind. This one is a very mild and easy drinkable PM. Light wood and nice fruits mix well with the spices and anice floral touch. Higher ABV would have been nice.

Rather subdued in the nose. Lots of (wet) wood and PM spices. A hint of sweetness and some alcohol. Quite different on the palate. Much more intensity with quite some sweetness. Candied herbs and fruits. I’m not sold on the nose, yet on the palate I like the profile very much.

Tried together with DomM during a short sample swap. Not so bad in itself, but I find the nose has a flaw, which I would describe as wet cardboard. Unfortunately, that prevented a better rating.

I'm working through some of my samples from HanseSpirit '26. Despite being 15 years old, this nice PM tastes surprisingly fruity-fresh. Nose: fruity-spicy-fresh. At first very pleasant, sweet-sour passion fruit with kiwi, gooseberry, a mix of citrus fruits and green apple. Along with a pleasant sweetness from sugar syrup that gradually turns into honey. This sweetness is accompanied by a floral note, maybe violet. Towards the end it becomes slightly doughy - brioche - and gains spiciness with sweet licorice. Very well integrated alcohol. I really like the nose, 8.5. Palate: here it's more typical PM. Strongly spicy-roasty. Salty and peppery-sharp at first, slightly bitter but also sweet, most like the tart sweetness of grapefruit. Yeah, that fits. Also woody with nutmeg and bacon-like nut, pecan. Here too, the alcohol is surprisingly well integrated - but the typical roasty-burnt and tart PM impression remains. Overall really not bad. 7.7

Tasting date 14.07.2026 Diamond Oldman Spirits. Whisky Watcher sample. Nose: Strange scent, alcohol. Very faint Diamond notes, slight sweetness. Palate: Honey and fruity sweetness, herbs, almost briny salt. A bit of candied caramel, strongly spiced red pepper. Leaves pepper, honey, and a bit poorly integrated alcohol in the throat. Glass: Honey and light cask. Tasting “In the cave”

First impression on the nose: the 61.6% ABV really stands out. After some standing time, many of the typical PM markers like brine, herbs, olive (though not as dominant as e.g. in the TRC PM 97), plus some caramel and barrel. On the palate spicy, candied, rather salty finish. Overall in the decent PM midfield.

Auch bei diesem Knaben dieser Serie muss man natürlich den Preis im Blick behalten und dafür ist er eigentlich nicht ok. Man bekommt leider hier nicht das was man bezahlt. Da gibt es aber auf jeden Fall auch ausgewogenere und komplexere in diesem Preisniveau

Flensburg Rum Company Awakening Series - Diamond I actually quite like this one. Typical PM profile, with herbs, spices and dried fruit. Still restrained on the nose, but very intense on the palate.

This rum did sit in the glass for about 15 minutes before i started tasting it. On the nose: Woody, toasted, spices like cinnamon and anise. Dried fruits. It also has herbal notes in the background. Taste: Woody, roasted and strong anise notes. Peppery notes. Little bit of herbal notes in the background. The abv could be integrated better and feels little bit of off balanced to me. The notes still feel light. Finish: Woody, light anise, light herba/floral notes. Short-medium finish. Unbalanced, weak notes and finish and lack of rich notes dropped the score for me. At that price, i would suggest tasting this before maybe buying it.

Still reserved on the nose with rather sweet aromatics, on the palate the PM-typical, intensely bitter pot still notes come through a bit stronger, but the character of this release almost feels like a blend of PM and classic column still rum. In any case, the release is very pleasant and approachable.

17-10-2025 - Rate 8.1 29-12-2025 - Rate 7.8 Was more found of this one the first time. Stood out as very continental flavored. No trofical climate in the taste. And plus the Port Mourant normally isn’t my favorit. Nose of wood, cinnamon, pepper and pear. Palate follows close by. Medium finish dominated by wood and cinnamon.

Relaxed Guyana for the ABV. Doesn’t really do much wrong. Just doesn’t deliver enough in my eyes for the average price of about €120. It’s also not an exceptional bottling. Certainly a solid bottling if you get a good deal.

Delicious PM. The alcoholic sharpness softens a bit after standing. Brine, olives, and anise. Classic. Taste-wise like Rum Mercenary (RX6838: 48.5%) and Kintra (RX2263: 55.9%), with the ABV clearly noticeable and exactly in this order also marking the increasing punch.
