Isautier Cuvée Anniversaire 180 Ans 2006
Polished wood, apricot and citrus up front, with leather, pepper and a green vegetal streak underneath — classic old Reunion agricole character. The nose is the highlight here: complex, layered, "feiner und eleganter" than some Velier bottlings, per one taster. The palate turns bitter, smoky and properly hot at 65.4%. A few drops of water tame the bite and pull out more caramel and citrus.

I love it! Such intensity. The bottle is only just opened and the juice already offers an incredible aromatic palette, a very evolving complexity, a big concentration. I also notice a nice freshness, like pine sap. And it's not too much!

#6219 10.01.2026 Got back home from a nice movie night with my friends and just had to run a few samples. Nose Fresh, faint wood, fruits, banana, light plum, faint medicinal, spice, faint grass. Palate Oily, fresh, round, faint wood, faint roasted, citrus, spice, light medicinal, light peppery. Finish Medium to long, light wood, light citrus, dried fruit, light peppery. Empty glass Banana, light prunes, light caramel, light vanilla.

This Isautier is really strong. You can tell right away that it's an Agricole. On the nose and palate, it's definitely very oaky and also spicy. Slightly vegetal on the nose, with some pepper and leather as well.

Tolle Nase, man merkt, dass hier sehr alte Rums geblendet wurde. Viel Fass und Holz an der Nase. Aprikose und Zitrusfrüchte, sowie erdige Noten oder Kräuter. Auch Schokolade, also einfach sehr viele Fasseinflüsse. Im Mund sehr bitter, rauchig, holzig und Zitrus.

Ohne Wasser: Ziemlich trocken im Geschmack. Auch der Abgang ist ziemlich trocken und leider kurz. Mit Wasser mehr Karamell in der Nase und er öffnet sich etwas: Mehr Zitrusfrüchte und die Bitterkeit wird geringer.

Fruits exotiques, bois typique bien poli qui caractérise bien La Réunion (en tout cas dans ces grands jus), du cuir... et en bouche des notes végétales. La finale revient sur les fruits, et une bonne dose de chocolat. Seul bémol pour moi, un peu trop alcooleux.

Er muss eine Weile atmen, zu Beginn sticht der Alkohol. Lack, Politur, edles Bananenbrot, getrocknete Früchte, Gewürze, Leder, Holz. Sehr komplex, saugut in der Nase. Scharf und alkoholisch im Mund. Strenge Würze - Pfeffer und Lakritz. Aufregender Abgang, entwickelt sich in Wellen. Sehr bitter. Richtig tolle Nase, feiner und eleganter als die Velier-Abfüllungen. Im Mund fehlt leider der Genuss.
