#6928 18.06.2026 Training is done and wife has been picked up. Time for some samples while watching Justice League on HBO. A very decent release though I would have loved a higher ABV. Molasses profile with varnish, spice, chocolage, coffee, roasted wood and tannins.

Overall, it's not a bad bottling, but not really a good one either. Reminds me more of a rum from South America than from Guyana. I'd classify this more as an easy sipper, nothing that really sticks in your memory. Definitely sweetened.

Very seductive nose on the border between classic British style from Demerara and sweet Spanish style. The sweetness makes the rum very accessible, the heavy Guyana aromas offer tempting depth. On the palate, the rum shows much more character, it gets a bit spicier and presumably the still subtly sharp finish reveals why the dilution was chosen. I also can't shake the suspicion that at least a sherry finish was used here, probably also some after-dosage - at least taste-wise it doesn't seem excluded. Thinking of the other Diamond representatives from the 90s, especially those from purely tropical aging, the question remains what would have been possible with a few more percentage points of alcohol in the glass. On the second try - and with a bit more oxidation than the first fresh tasting - I unfortunately find the rum clearly weaker in taste than the first time, as the palate falls into a rather flat sweetness that largely overwhelms the other aromas. I correct downwards, this clearly no longer suffices for a higher rating.

The rum is certainly sweetened. Unfortunately, not much can be tasted anymore because of that. I definitely don't taste PM, so it's most likely an Enmore.
