Sehr verführerische Nase an der Grenze zwischen klassisch-britischem Stil aus Demerara und süssem, spanischen Stil. Die Süsse macht den Rum ausgesprochen zugänglich, die schweren Guyana-Aromen bieten dazu verlockende Tiefe. Am Gaumen zeigt der Rum dann deutlich mehr Charakter, es wird etwas würziger und vermutlich lässt sich durch den immer noch dezent schnittigen Abgang erkennen, warum die Verdünnung gewählt wurde. Ich werde auch die Vermutung nicht ganz los, dass hier noch mit einem Sherry-Finish gearbeitet wurde, zumindest geschmacklich scheint mir das nicht ausgeschlossen. An die anderen Diamond-Vertreter aus den 90iger Jahren denkend, insbesondere die aus rein tropischer Lagerung, bleibt natürlich auch die Frage, was noch möglich gewesen wäre mit ein paar Prozentpunkten Alkohol mehr im Glas. Sei es drum - auch so macht diese Release Freude und bietet einen sehr runden, ausgesprochen süffigen Demerara-Rum auf hohem qualitativem Niveau.

Insgesamt gesehen, ist es keine schlechte Abfüllung, aber auch nicht wirklich eine gute Abfüllung. Erinnert eher an einen Rum aus Südamerika als aus Guyana. Würde diesen eher als easy Sipper einordnen, nichts das jetzt wirklich in Erinnerung bleibt. Bestimmt gesüßt

Der Rum ist sicher gesüßt. Leider ist dadurch nicht mehr viel rauszuschmecken. Pm schmecke ich auf jeden Fall nicht, deshalb wird es am ehesten ein Enmore sein.

#6928 18.06.2026 Training is done and wife has been picked up. Time for some samples while watching Justice League on HBO. A very decent release though I would have loved a higher ABV. Molasses profile with varnish, spice, chocolage, coffee, roasted wood and tannins.
