Right from the moment you open it, you can tell this isn’t your usual Agricole. Instead of just the cane and vegetal notes dominating, you get all sorts of tropical fruits and spices that make it really complex! On the palate, there are (citrus) fruits and again some light spice aromas. In the super long finish, you get a hint of wood for the first time. The alcohol is integrated to perfection! I’m honestly not an Agricole fan, but this one is truly something special!

an der Nase kommt zu Beginn der Fasseinflsuss schon deutlich durch. Mit mehr Standzeit gesellen sich reife tropische und getrocknete Früchte dazu (Mango, Papaya, Feige…), auch ein wenig Zitrusfrische, dahinter das intensive Vanille-Mark (das ich bei vielen GA/Herr hatte). Am Gaumen noch mehr Fass, röstig, sehr mundfüllend durch den hohen ABV, aber überhaupt nicht stechend oder kratzig. Hinten raus eher herb mit viel Tannin. Sehr langer Abgang. Erinnert mich ein wenig an das (für RX vorgesehene) Fass #991, nur alles noch etwas konzentrierter und intensiver

Als Savanna Fan taugt er mir nicht, mit neutraler Brille durchaus ein guter und komplexer Rum. In der Nase vergorene Frucht, Lösungsmittel, Zitrus und eine leicht florale Note, dazu eine warme Holzwürze. Am Gaumen dicht und druckvoll mit Ester, Gewürzen, trockener Eiche und einer herben Kante, die dem Rum Struktur gibt. Wirkt konzentriert und kompromisslos, mit viel Energie.

Kleines Savanna-Crosstasting mit Soforteinschätzung, daher heute nur kurz (Sakrileg, ich weiß): Na ja, der reiht sich schon an der Spitze ein. Mundfüllend, dicht, einfach ohne irgendwelche "Strickfehler", superb. Blind absolut nicht zuordenbar, weder zu Savanna noch zu Zuckerrohrsaft.

#6161 31.12.2025 Relaxing with some rums preparing for the New Year dinner and celebrations. Nose Fresh, light wood, light berries, citrus, olive, light mint, herbs, faint caramel, apple. Palate Oily, fresh, light wood, anise, fruity, apple, light citrus, light caramel, light earthy, faint mineral. Finish Long and warm, oily, fresh, anise, light earthy, light mint, berries. Empty glass Strawberry, licorice, light chocolate, light olive, mint.

Schon ganz schön holzig, aber Fruchtigkeit noch vorhanden. Sehr speziell, sehr fordernd, nichts für zwischendurch. Sehr langer, intensiver Abgang.

2008er Savanna Traditionelle von Rob Bauer. Eine unfassbar intensive & konzentrierte Nase. Vergorene, überreife Mango, leicht fermentierter rauchiger Tabak, Sandelholz Räucherstäbchen und Lack, sowie tropische Früchte. Geschmacklich kurz fast schon an einen Grand Arome erinnernd: grüner Apfel, überreife Erdbeere und Menthol. Gleichzeitig aber auch wieder die Räucherstäbchen und die Tabak Noten, sowie frisches Zuckerrohr und intensive Holzaromatik mit knackigen Tanninen und einer leichten Säure im Abgang. Wenn die rauchige Note nicht wäre, würde die Bewertung evtl höher ausfallen, leider irritiert diese mich aber enorm. Dem gebe ich zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt nochmals eine Chance. Dennoch hohe Qualität!

Si le premier nez est plutôt sec, les premières effluves sont étonnamment sur l’olive et la banane verte. Un agricole dont la canne a laissé place à des arômes qui oscillent entre la bagasse, les fruits mûrs et le chocolat au lait. L’aération amène des notes plus gourmandes, chocolatées, poire pochée au sirop. En bouche, l’attaque est chaude, franche, une pointe acidulée s’empare de votre langue, ponctuée de notes de pomme, de tannins, qui ne semblent pas s’estomper, mais laissent peu à peu place à des notes de tabac, de noix légère, et de réglisse. En finale, un voile de fruits frais, une note oxydative & acidulée, ainsi que le bois poli typique de Savanna restent, et reviennent par vagues successives, sans relâche. Un rhum pour l’éternité ? Peut être. Il est déroutant tant il change des profils agricoles de la Martinique, la colonne Savalle semble montrer l’intégralité de ses capacités, et cette finale éthérée vous hante pendant des heures. EDIT : nouvelle dégustation encore plus plaisante, et mise à dispo d'un gros article sur le blog !

Schon an der Nase begrüßen einen viel Holz und gleichzeitig viel Frucht. Am Gaumen dann ebenfalls ausgeprägte Tannine und Holznoten, etwas bitter, aber eingebettet in eine schöne Fruchtigkeit. Sehr untypisch sowohl für einen Savanna wie auch einen Rhum Agricole. Sehr langer Abgang mit viel Tanninen, die in Richtung Tictac Wintergreen gehen. Wirklich ein sehr besonderer Rum, der viel Zeit und Aufmerksamkeit erfordert.

Heute mal 3 Savannas im Glas um die neue RumX Abfüllung einordnen zu können. Angetreten sind die Abfüllung von Rob, der Virtues, der Savanna Thunderstruck, sowie eben der RumX #991. Danke nochmal an Oliver für das vorab Sample. Als Resümee für mich hat der RumX die beste Nase. Auch geschmacklich hat er für mich den ersten Platz. 17 Jahre tropische Reifung eines Savannas kann man einfach nicht toppen. Der Thunderstruck Grand Arome kann da nicht mithalten. Der Virtues von Rob hat bei mir den zweiten Platz gesichert.

Ein sehr stimmiger Rum, der aber gut 10 Minuten im Glas sein sollte. Allerlei tropische Früchte mit einem leichten Holzton. Da dachte ich noch das wird keine 9. Sowie er im Mund ist explodiert alles und die 68,3% helfen dabei ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Habe mir extra die Zähne am Abend nicht geputzt und siehe da er war am Morgen noch zu schmecken. Wer kann sollte ihn verkosten.

Bottlekilldram! Intensiver, äußerst komplexer Savanna mit ordentlich Holz in der Nase und auf der Zunge, der seine Zeit im Glas brauch. Kein Rum für Jedermann oder jeden Tag. Ich mag ihn!

Amazing. Charity is not only one of the best rums I've ever tried, but I think this is the kind of spirit that goes beyond categories. Blindly, on the nose I'd say this is an armagnac rather than a rum, or a really old calvados to some extent. But then comes the palate to show the real nature of this spirit. The nose is full of spices agrumes and wood, but I found also some red fruits and camphor that goes along with herbal and citrusy notes. The palate is a surprise, you expect it woody and astringent, instead you are welcome by fruitiness (agrumes and dried fruits) and vanilla sweetness. The woodyness and a bit of astringency are coming just at the end. I repeat myself, this is a great rum, and consider that I do not even like Savanna Agricoles on the average.

You said Rob bower you said it all. This guy continues picking amazing casks again and again. This is a monster rum. Very powerful. Not really the biggest savanna hipe person... It is a good distillery and this is an excellent rum. Glad people here founded many layers in it. But for me it is very good rum but lacks some complexity and very very. This is my thoughts from a 15 ml sample a friend gave me.

"Che bomba! Alla cieca non direi mai Savanna! Naso da rum super strutturato e complesso...molto lontano dagli agricole invecchiati classici (che preferisco white). Il palato conferma ampiamente il naso con la gradazione che si fa sentire nel modo giusto senza essere esagerata (anche se in realtà lo è 😝). Finale lunghissimo che spinge alla salivazione e a ribere. Da degustare con moooolta calma. Non è per tutti..."
