Fermented pineapple, glue and new-sneaker rubber pour out of the glass, then a creamy tropical-fruit sweetness rounds it all off — 28 years in the cask has tamed the ester punch without dulling it. Members almost all say the nose beats the palate, and that it needs a full hour of air to open. At cask strength the alcohol reads remarkably well integrated, and the finish just won't quit.

This Hampden is absolutely amazing. Despite the strong esters, it's extremely harmonious and elegant. The influence of wood and spices fits perfectly too. The alcohol is truly perfectly integrated and the finish lasts forever!

#5910 31.10.2025 Attending Tom and Barbli's wedding in Belgium and it was a monster of an event with a very nice after party the following day. Now this one is a monster and I had to try it more than once because I find it amazing. Luckily I have gotten my hands on one a well and I look forward to getting it. A fruity bomb with nice esters and good balance between all the elements. The finish is forever and even after some water it still remains on your palate.

👃 Pouah! Très expressif dès le premier nez. Je laisse le verre s'aérer pendant environ 1 heure. J'ai été récompensé par tout ce que l'on peut attendre d'un Hampden high ester avec presque 28 ans de vieillissement. Les premiers arômes m'évoquent une pâtisserie crémeuse et très légèrement caramélisée à l'ananas et au citron confit. Puis, beaucoup de fruits surmûris (ananas, banane, jacquier) sous forme de bonbons estérisés. Ce caractère trop mûr m'évoque aussi le parfum de fleurs exotiques malodorantes. Grande quantité de caoutchouc, de cuir synthétique et de colle de baskets neuves. Je trouve aussi un peu de goudron salé, cette salinité évolue vers du poisson fumé, des enchoïades épicées et des olives vertes. Le boisé est fondu dans toute cette puissance olfactive, il porte subtilement les arômes. Le degré alcoolique est imperceptible à ce moment de la dégustation. Dans le genre, c'est un nez proche de la perfection. 😋 Texture huileuse et sèche. Impressionnante sensation d'intensité et de concentration aromatique. Une totale opposition entre d'un côté des fruits tropicaux surmûris et de l'autre une fumée de goudron salé, d'essence, d'olives en saumure et de colle. J'adore ce mélange de petits morceaux d'ananas très mûrs et de cerises aigres dans une sauce asiatique umami. On peut définir cette bouche comme représentative de la saveur Hampden typique, un joyeux melting-pot de sucré/salé, amer/acide et aigre doux. Encore une fois, un boisé en retrait, qui magnifie les saveurs. L'alcool est parfaitement intégré. ⛳ Longue, très longue, chaude, savoureuse, salée, épicée, sèche, amère, astringente, estérisée jusqu'au bout. Du funk crémeux d'ananas sucrés et de vanille aux piments s'éternise longtemps sur les parois de la bouche et dans le gosier. 🏆 Complet & complexe, intense & évolutif, ce très vieux rum jamaïcain a magnifiquement vieilli, avec des esters crémeux, du funk hyper fruité, rempli de marqueurs trigeminaux et médicinaux avec une longue finale hampdenienne à souhait. Sortie fin 2025, cette licorne sera certainement considérée comme l'uns des meilleurs jamaïcains de l'année 2026.

Einfach nur prächtig… Ein echter Knaller von TWJ!! Dieser Hampden ist wunderschön und weist alle typischen Merkmale der Marke auf … und dieser hier ist wirklich magisch, vor allem nach einer Stunde im Glas, wo er seine ganze Fülle entfaltet, die man von einem solchen Likör erwartet. Alkoholgehalt top und herrlicher Abgang. Ich denke der hampden und der new yarmouth wurde aussehen vertauscht, sieht man eigentlich schon an der farbe

Oh ein Hampden, was soll ich nur schreiben? Klar hat auch oberviele überreife tropische Früchte, Ananas und Banane natürlich hervorzuheben hier, (wie immer:)), trotzdem sie immer auch sehr lecker das Gerät...

Has everything a good, long matured Hampden needs. Lots of oak, refined in wood - simply a great rum. Anyone who was able to buy a bottle should consider themselves lucky and enjoy it at a good time. Like we did at the weekend. A worthy companion to a great celebration. 🇯🇲🥰🦄 Tasting will be completed again

Somptueux… tout simplement. Grosse sortie de TWJ !! Ce Hampden est magnifique, avec tous les marqueurs habituels du noms … et celui ci est vraiment magique, surtout après une heure dans le verre où il prend vraiment toute l’ampleur de ce qu’on attend d’un tel jus. Alcool au top, et superbe longueur ❤️❤️❤️

Insane nose as soon as it is poured. Full and round on the palate too, but even better on the nose. Despite the high ester, tamed by the long maturation without being boring. Can be sipped forever in the mouth. Extremely successful bottling, but high price.

Un vrai c<>h dompté par le temps. Les 28 ans en fut ont fait un magnifique travail ! Tres crémeux, onctueux, ca tapisse la bouche (et pour longtemps...). Des fruits en veux tu en voilà, de la colle, un alcool intégré a merveille. Une finale interminable. La licorne le définit tres bien, je suis sous le charme.

24/01/2026: tasted @ Liquid Leuven 2026. A really good Hampden, but not on the same level as the first 1997 release from the Whisky Jury in my opinion. The nose was even better than the palate for me.
