This 2005 New Yarmouth, 20 years old at cask strength, reads as a "funky fruit bomb" that stays balanced rather than wild. Great New Yarmouth. Ester and glue hit you right away. But still nice and not brutal or wild. Alongside fruity notes and citrus. Nice and creamy in the mouth. Fruit again. Not wild but everything well integrated. Pleasant sweetness. Very good bottling.

#5911 31.10.2025 Attending Tom and Barbli's wedding in Belgium and it was a monster of an event with a very nice after party the following day. This is also a very good release and again I have secured a bottle for myself. Another fruit bomb with a well balanced and naturally sweet palate. The finish is also very long and fruity with some nice and light spicy sweetness to it.

8,7:On the nose, esters, glue and polish, varnish, toasted wood with nuts, marzipan, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, coconut, pear, fresh molasses, grassy with hay, bump into our nosetrils, quite tamed. On aeration, the molasses is vegetal, flowery, the rum opens up, lemon and red fruits join, the oak is a bit resinous, sweet with pastry, spicy with allspice. 9,1:On the palate, a better story, the attack is medicinal with esters, hints of menthol, glue, delicious with overripe tropical fruits like mango, coconut, banana and citrus fruits, some candied, oily with toasted oak and pastry, caramelized, spicy with allspice, sweet with molasses honey, fresh, flowery, vegetal with briny olive. 9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, balanced, fresh with minty, flowery, grassy molasses, slightly dark with black tea, hints of eucalyptus, fruity with tropical, red and citrus fruits, as the oak is roasted, spicy, smoky.

Powerful ester-rich and fruity nose... pineapple, banana, honeydew melon, clearly citrus fruits, a bit of menthol, really funky. Light sweetness... the rum immediately spreads across the palate, nicely fruity and funky... Then in the finish, a clear bitterness. Here you can see again what continental aging really means 😅😅 not much at all!! We're talking about 20 years and still this fresh funky rum... it's great but not even close to being comparable to tropical aging...

This New Yarmouth is quite intense and complex. On the nose, fruity and sweet aromas dominate. On the palate, however, an intense, powerful wave of wood, spice, and cookie dough aromas comes through... accompanied by esters and tropical fruits. Great, but certainly overwhelming for some. The finish leans more towards the spicy and bitter side.

Direct comparison of the two new 2005 New Yarmouths. At the start, the TWJ has slightly fewer esters, here the fruit aromas come through a bit stronger, notably banana which I miss in the TBS. At the beginning, there’s a citrus note with overall slightly more acidity than the TBS. The noses get closer over time and blind, I can no longer tell them apart. On the palate, the esters are also less pronounced and it feels a bit fruitier. Nice oily, creamy texture. The finish is long on both and the alcohol is very well integrated. Overall, I find the TWJ a bit smoother and more balanced, so it just barely has the edge. But I think that definitely depends on the day. Glad to have a bottle of each.

25-10-2025 - Rate 9.2 By now it’s no surprise that I love New Yarmouth. 1994 is the absolute favorite New Yarmouth year. Som 2005 with more age is starting to pop up and they are really great. Nose of tropical fruit, banana, ester and oak. Taste that follows the nose quit well. Still tropical fruits, ester, methanol and oak. Great NY. I like this one best from today's flight of three. Here, especially the banana is more in the foreground. Also, this one is much more balanced with sweetness and not so dry. I like that. It's a bit more "classic" Jamaican but at a high level. From memory, the Cave Guildive remains my vintage favorite.

A grand and full-flavored New Yarmouth. The nose is powerful, very fruity with banana, pineapple, and lemon. The esters make their strength known to the nostrils with glue and varnish. Fresh, woody, and honeyed aromas come in a second wave to give olfactory depth. A generous and welcoming nose. The attack on the palate is direct, oily, driven by ripe exotic yellow fruits (pineapple, banana, passion fruit, maracuja). The honeyed notes are more present than on the nose but remain secondary alongside wood and spices, especially chili. The esters perfume the palate without distorting it. The alcohol is fabulously well integrated into this very rich and aromatic profile. The finish is long, the aromas diversify but change the personality of the profile: the fruity and lush bouquet in the mouth gives way to more herbal notes (eucalyptus, menthol), more bitter, more tannic and woody. This is different from what you usually see in this Vintage. A superb work by The Whisky Jury, offering a bottle capable of competing with other New Yarmouth of this kind.

A little more delicate on the nose and a little less in-your-face compared to the NY 2005 from the bottleshop tasted at the same time. Nice grapefruit on the nose. Also somewhat more delicate on the palate, while the Bottleshop is somewhat more robust. The TWJ is rounder, the Bottleshop somewhat wilder. Both at a high level. In the end, the TWJ is slightly ahead for me, as it is a little more to the point. However, the Bottleshop has nothing to hide, both are really great bottlings of high quality.

On the nose: Esters, glue, varnish and nail polish notes seem be nicely balanced with tropical fruits. Woody notes give a nice aged body to this. Taste: Mango notes at first. Then the esters, glue and other fruit notes hit. The mouthfeel evolves to little bit oily and palate changes little bit towards sweeter side with honey notes. Delicious. Finish: Esters, banana and sweeter notes from maybe marzipan. Little bit of minty/eucalyptus notes at the background. Medium-long finish. Is this my first New Yarmouth rum? Maybe yes, so therefore i cant compare it to New Yarmouth 1994 releases, but this is a fantastic release and i recommend that you try this rum.

Despite I am not a fan of NY except 1994, this one is making me rethink my position. Estery and fruity both on the nose, where also spices and especially pepper come out of the glass (LROK 2010 HV anyone?), and on the palate where this rum finds a new dimension with the oilyness. A masterpiece that lacks just of a bit of freshness to be close to the perfection

Fresh and agile on the nose with a nice variety of esters and barrel notes. Direct acidity on the palate. Barrel influence is there and offers some bitterness. A little shorter on the finish than I had hoped. Very mild finish with some smoke. It loses points here. Overall a tasty drop.

Both on the nose and palate, the esters are well present, fruit, solvents, marzipan (but much less than the 2009) and very surprising, a little strawberry note at the end of the palate. Notes to explore further.

29/11/2025: private tasting @ Olivier. I don't have a lot of experience yet with New Yarmouth, but this one tasted really good and fruity. I tasted this near the end of the tasting, so I might need to retaste this with a clean palate.

Nose: F*kn amazing! Lot of grass, esters, fruits, solvents, glue, apples, bananas, pineapple, lemons, candies, demerara sugar. Some coconut, sandal wood, marmalade & fermented notes. Palate: great balance. Bananas, mango, sweet notes of overripe fruits, mint herbals. Little bit of berries. Aftertaste: long, dry, eucalyptus, herbals, pears, mint, candies. Absolutely great !

The Esters fill the room with their scent as soon as the sample is opened. Varnish and glue are very present on the nose but less so on the palate. Lots of complexity, overripe fruits, spices, woodiness.
