Agricole drinkers who like their cane spirit fresh, dry and a little weird will find plenty here. Yellow fruit — melon, nectarine, clementine — sits next to green olive, camphor, herbs and light toasted oak, with the ex-cognac cask showing quietly. At 61% the alcohol lands surprisingly well integrated. A few tasters found the nose too shy or hit medicinal off-notes, so it doesn't win everyone over.

8,2:On the nose, herbaceous, perfumed sugarcane, vegetal with olive, hay, toasted wood, spicy with allspice, smoky, burnt, meaty, cognac barrel impact is obvious with leather, citrus fruits. On aeration, melon is out, tropical and dried fruits, earthy, grassy molasses, roasted nuts and medicinal notes like rubber, camphor. 8:On the palate, the attack is slightly vegetal with herbal, floral sugarcane, briny olive, a bit perfumed, cognac barrel impact is obvious with dried fruits, leather, citrus fruits, joined by banana, yellow fruits, medicinal notes like camphor, as the wood is toasted, resinous, smoky, spicy, burnt. 8,1:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, medicinal with iodine, rubber, waxy, slightly dirty, fruity with dried fruits and banana, sugarcane is minty, floral, peppery, grassy with hay, fresh with tea, as oak is toasted with burnt sugar, smoky, spicy, warm. Tout ce que je déteste chez Savanna. Un nez sur l'olive verte intense en saumure. De l'iode et du camphre. Des champignons fermenté. Du melon qui a mal tourné. Je grimace. La bouche n'arrange rien avec ces saveurs herbacées à brouter de l'herbe, un côté très médicinal avec du camphre très présent. Sa seule qualité est son alcool bien intégré. La finale est courte et sans intérêt. Aucun plaisir dans ce rhum à une prix délirant

At first, I felt a light pastry framework and clear notes of melon. Then with aeration, a slight leather, marked notes of wood and camphor appear, and while the cognac cask is discreet, some exotic fruit notes hide among the tannins. On the palate, there is pep and a nice acidity. Nectarine, clementine, I really like it! It's quite direct, as expected from an agricole, but pleasant, and the influence of the cognac cask grows in intensity. Fruit pits and some light spices gradually settle in. The finish, of medium length, oscillates between a surprising candy sugar (rather typical of molasses), yellow fruits, pepper, and a woodiness that is present without being overwhelming. Patience is needed to let the indulgence of the cognac settle in.

Heute mal ein kleines wildes (teilweise island) savanna Tasting. L'Absolute 2025, sehr solider und leckerer Savanna mit ordentlichem Holzeinschlag. Der Preis ist sehr häppig für das Gebotene. 8.2 Unshared Cask CZ, schon sehr viel weicher am Gaumen, hellere Fruchtnoten mit dem typischen Erdbeerjoghurt. Zum Abgang hin wird es wild adstringent und die Früchte karamelisiert. Etwas scharf und unrund zum Ende hin. Dennoch sehr interessant. Sternenhimmel, hui, der spaltet völlig zurecht die Gemüter. Sehr schwefelig. Ich kann mich noch nicht ganz entscheiden, ob ich ihn mag oder nicht. Grotte, fruchtig, sehr viel vergorene Früchte. Kurzer Abgang, Alkohol nicht ideal eingebunden. Fällt etwas im Vergleich ab.

#6364 18.02.2026 Relaxing with some samples after a slow day at work and a good afternoon on the bike. This is a very nice release with a fruity and floral profile. The floral notes are close to being perfume like notes. Well balanced with some light rubber and mint.

05-12-2025 - Rate 8.3 The 1.st in a line up of 5 different Savanna rums. Can say now that this one was a bit off from the other 4. See next 4 review’s of the ocher bottles. Nose of herbs/floral, wood and spice. Palate also a floral feel mixed with wood and spice. Medium finish dominated by wood and herbs/floral

Finally tried these new Savannas in the glass, beforehand very disappointed that they were only available in overpriced bundles and in my opinion they are not worth the price. That’s not to say they are bad, but in my eyes they’re just not outstanding.

Tasting of a 2cl sample. 👃 A moment of remembrance: as soon as I pour the sample into my glass, I smell a floral perfume that reminds me of the toilets at my grandparents' house. Little sachets and still life of dried flowers, flower smoke. I've had these aromas in Folle Blanche Armagnacs aged for at least 20 years. It fades with time. Then, sweet spices, a light woodiness tinged with leather, the impression of smelling the earth in my hands. Fruit takes over, with melon, yellow fruit, mirabelle plum, raisins (gros manseng variety) and even a hint of exotic fruit with "starfruit". The nose ends with fleeting herbaceous notes of green olives and tiger balm. Very good integration of alcohol in the service of an atypical, refreshing fruit profile. 😋 A variety of fruits (melon, tangerine, carambola, pineapple, yellow kiwi) in the form of tangy tutti frutti candy. Spices including cardamom, always this floral and smoky perfume, iodine (yet the canes are not so close to the edge of the Indian Ocean in my memory), camphor, green olives, a light, melted and dry woodiness. The palate echoes the nose. A mention for the integration of ABV. ⛳ Medium-length, warm, dry, slightly bitter. Combination of yellow fruit, sugarcane and iodine. Peppery oak, smoky floral aspect with some raisins. 💡 I'm amazed by the other first tasting notes. This Savanna is a very good agricole, atypical, fresh, with a real identity.

Great Savanna tasting with Artur. A nose of tropical fruits with cedar wood and a slight smokiness, plus a bit of tar and hot plastic. The palate is first marked by the smoke, then the cedar wood comes through. Both are too dominant and mask the other aromas like tropical fruits. The finish is quite long but also too dominated by smoky wood. The off-putting plastic aromas are there too.

Tasting of 4 samples of this new Wild edition. I am a big fan of what Savanna does, their atypical and varied rums. I really enjoyed these new rums and I will not take into account the exorbitant price compared to previous versions... Before diving into this Wild edition, I took a look at the Savanna Unshared Belgium Mérou, which I had rated 8.4, to give myself a reference point. As for this Wild Grotte, I found the nose very discreet, too discreet, which is in my opinion the negative point of this bottle. On the other hand, as for the taste... I found it terrific. The alcohol is well integrated and I quickly perceived in the mouth a varied and evolving profile: salty, herbal, fruity, then a woody finish. A very successful agricole in my opinion.

In terms of nose and taste, this Savanna is a bit of a letdown. Fewer of those real tropical fruits. More glue, esters, milk chocolate, and a bit of barrel/oak wood. In the back you can taste the olive and mint. I really love Savanna, but this one is on the light side.

Beautiful, light Agricole nose. Very intense on the palate with apple, pear and grassy notes. There is a hint of vanilla, but it remains quite green-vegetable-fruity. Medium length finish with some wood. I like it, in my opinion a little underrated here. Unfortunately (too) expensive for what it is.

Savanna Cross Tasting - November 2025: The "second" Grotte from the new Wild Island Edition is rather on the light side, with yellow fruits, less wood, less spice, less sweetness. Somehow light and rather thin. Not quite to my taste.

🇷🇪 Nová Wild Island edice 🏞️🌅🌋🌌 🥃 Black Volcano Cave 🌋 Agricole, 2014, 7 let, ex-cognac, 61% Velmi svěží a živý, trochu travnatý a velmi ovocný po žlutém kontinentálním ovoci, po provzdušnění se více projevuje dřevitost se zemitým kořením a bylinkami. V chuti je agricole DNA znatelnější více. Parádní kousek a pro mě asi největší překvapení série. 🥃 Marine Cave 🏞️ Traditionnel, 2009, 15 let, ex-cognac, 62,6% Potřebuje delší čas ve sklenici, než se pořádně otevře. Pak nabídne bohaté aroma ořechů, lehké praženosti, karamelu, hnědého cukru, koření a dotek chemie. V chuti se přidávají ovocnější tóny. 🥃 Milky Way 🌌 Traditionnel, 2008, 15 let, ex-sherry, 60,1% Čokoládově nasládlý se dřevem a sušenými švestkami a celkově poměrně tmavý s příjemnou vínovou linkou. Krásně plný a hutný jak ve vůni tak v chuti. Závěr je tu ale nečekaně chemicko-gumový (zvýrazněný ještě po zapití vodou). To mi ale nevadí. 🥃 Tree in flames 🌅 Grand Arome, 2010, 13 let, ex-cognac, 60,9% Záměrně jsem si nechal na konec, protože prostě vrchol. Skvělý nos, jak jsme u Grand Arome Savanny zvyklí. Mix sladkého, zralého tropického ovoce (zvláště banánu) a umělé jahody umocněný akurátní dávkou esterů a chemie a kapka toho dřeva a sladkokyselosti. V chuti ta samá nálož ovocných tónů s estery. Celkově to působí jako gumídci. ______ Opět nádherná přírodní grafika, kterou prostě můžu, a opět špičkové rumy, které prostě můžu. A za mě se určitě staví na stejnou úroveň jako předchozí edice.

Un Savanna sympa, qui se boit facilement, il est plutôt rond et l’alcool (61%) est bien plutôt bien intégré. Le boisé se ressent au nez comme au palais. Au nez on a en plus du cuir et des fruits tropicaux. À regoûter dans quelques mois.
